  1. Ugh. This one really hurts since it's been out there for years. I've had other ammo cans stolen but usually they don't leave anything behind. This clown actually took a small amount of trouble and stuck the contents inside a plastic bag. I had the whole thing painted too. If anyone sees this can, it's stolen...
  2. Sorry for the necro-posting but quite frankly I had forgotten about this...it's OKay, hallowe'en is in a few days. I cached for a while before I even made a user name, and have found quite a lot of caches with someone else. I no longer like them. I just decided to start fresh...I've never been one to judge a person based on things like post count so I didn't bother updating. Well, isn't that the pot calling the kettle black? Ignoring someone is one thing, making sure they know about it...well... I think what had irritated me that day was a comment like this; "...the fun of the day was lost and the spirit of caching stripped away." Gee thanks. Really thanks. Well you just made my day too. Maybe since your numbers are so much larger than mine, perhaps you can explain why people were so irritated with the terrain rating? Honestly, is it that big of a deal? Do you know where most of my experience walking in the woods comes from? Having a hunting cabin half way up a mountain in the Adirondacks, and hunting there for the past 20 years in the middle of winter when it's 20 below and at least a couple of feet of snow on the ground. Ratings are subjective. Compared to that, there's not a spot in the entire area of that cache I would rate above a .3 LOL, I just picked a random amalgamation of names I recently saw...I didn't mean you specifically. (c:
  3. Now, I don't have 2 or 3 hundred caches out there like some people. I have a couple that I think are enjoyable. However, I've noticed that there are some members that "carpet bomb" an area with caches. Most don't even put any thought into them; they're slapdash affairs and often no more than a film canister. In a nutshell; boring. The result of this though, is that the casual cache placer can't find any decent areas to place a cache. The geocacher themselves too suffer, because all they can find is "RIdogz5, RIDogz6, RIDogz7"...just one lame cache after another after another for a couple of miles sometimes. Should there be a limit on the amount of caches placed by one member in a small amount of time in the same general area?
  4. I think those that said make a cache you'd like to find yourself are spot on. My first cache was in an area of a beautiful monastery where many years ago a renaissance faire was held. A LOT of people who walked those trails had no idea that faire was held in that area. I put in the cache a description and a photo album filled with photos. People have responded very well to that cache. Personally, I hate cookie cutter slapdash caches with no thought to them whatsoever. It just takes the fun out of it.
