  1. Thank you for your suggestion. Yes quite different than when I had to put in coordinates on my old GPS with a short battery life. Also I did not know that you still have free apps on this site.
  2. Hi, I consider myself one of the first members but dropped out when I moved to the Bay Area but I moved back to the desert now and want to pick up geocaching again. What's wrong with using Google map and Iphone as my GPS by putting the decimal coordinates in the search window.
  3. quote:Originally posted by joedohn: I could foresee some difficulty with the caches being posted on Geocaching.com. You would probably want the cache contents to be maintained at a certain level of quality (for the tourists). You're right. They are not going to be posted on Geocaching. Only the touroperator and driver know these locations. Since this is a paid service the contents are of a certain high commercial quality and some are refreshed daily (lunch cache)
  4. Thank you guys for all your negative and positive responses. Alan is hitting the nail right on the head with his suggestions. That is indeed the directions I wanted to go. Please note that I live in a resort area. A lot of out of towners and snowbirds. This area has 3 jeep adventure tour companies which uses extended open jeeps to fit 6 passengers. Their clients are primarily hotel guests and conventioneers. They pay $60-70 for a 3 hour tour into the desert and mountains, lunch and refreshments included. I took the tour once. After 20 minutes driving and ooh and aahs of the presented desert vistas I became bored quickly. That's why I came with the added activity of geocaching. If you go on a google search on "adventure tours" you will find quite a number of these companies all over the world. None of these companies are offering added interactivity. Comprende guys? Besides, Jerremy is hooking up with Playtime Inc to do similar paid things with geocaching. What's the difference ? Awaiting more of your responses.
  5. I'm looking for a business partner to bring my startup geocaching related adventure tour company to the next level. I'm too occupied with my present job. For more info visit [removed] I'm willing to sell the company, to include the business plan and domain name for the costs and labor I have invested sofar. Interested parties should email me at [removed] [This message was edited by Jeremy (Admin) on June 23, 2002 at 02:08 AM.]
  6. I respectfully disagree with the first part of this statement. Digitizing optical images are 100% electronics. As a broadcast engineer I consider Sony one of the CCD technology pioneers. I do agree with the statement that lenses are the critical part of a filmbased camera. But with digital cameras the CCD and the electronic image processing is of equal importance. Therefore I have selected the famous German Carl Zeis lens and the electronics of Sony combined in the DSC-F707 with its 5 megapixels resolution. The Nikons and Canons with the same megapixel number cost twice as much. Do we need this type of camera for Geocaching. I don't think so since the max uploadable image can not exceed 100Kb. All the pictures I took for Geocaching I had to resize to fit the requirement. I loved my Sony but it is hated by the women because of its sharp images showing all their facial shortcomings. I had to unsharpen their portraits to make them happy. [This message was edited by lostsoul on June 21, 2002 at 08:33 PM.]

Upgraded to Win XP recently and did not know that it disabled the cookies during install. See icon right bottom if it is disabled. While I could access my cache page with the office computer I could not with my home computer and went crazy looking for the problem and even fired off an email to Groundspeak reporting a bug. Then I realized the new disable icon, enabled it and viola I was on my cache page. Conclusion: Groundspeak need the cookies.
  8. Why send in with the possibility of damage during shipment and being without your GPS for a period. Buy the PC cable (cheaper than have them do the upgrade, besides I don't know if they do it), go to their website and download the upgrade. Its all automatic, nothing to it. Good luck.
