Ok, I feel I have to put my 2 cents in about this for I too was raked through the coals for making a geocoin that simply reflected my pride and love for this great state I reside in, California. I believe if someone makes a personal geocoin that makes them happy, promotes and reflects the great sport of geocaching in a positive light, then let them be. I saw this coin today in person and its a beautiful, well made, and an affordable coin that I plan to buy a handful of to place in caches that I hope will travel the world and show everyone else just how unique and special California really is. However, there is now a bigger issue that has arose that has truly saddens me. I learned today that the originator of this thread has been placed on a three (3) day suspension for simply responding to a negative post. I reviewed the post and saw nothing that would warrant such a response. To take the making of a geocoin which should be a happy and exciting event and turn it into a negative and punishing event seems unfair at least. It would appear that there may be some other motive for such a reaction that I would like to know about so I don't make the same mistake and suffer the same fate as Castle Man. "In the grand scheme of things, is it really THAT important?" I think not. If you need a coin to make you feel special after spending the day with the truly unique characters into geocaching, then I say there is just something wrong with that.

The only coins that are sold out are the Gold and the Antique copper as individual coins. I still have 9 sets of all 3 plattings and around 15 of the silver coins still available for purchase.

For me, a coin will not get me to an event at all. I am motivated to go to events to meet fellow cachers, swap stories, and honestly to learn more about this great sport. I believe, if you had an event coin made with a matching pin, perhaps the pin could be given to those who attended for free. Those who attended the event could also have the option of purchasing a coin at a reduced price since shipping charges are not involved lol. The coin could also be raffled off as door prizes to those at the event. As far as for any coins that may be left over, I see nothing wrong in making them available for purchas to the general public. The extra pins could be swag for caches.

Good question Team LightningBugs. To tell you the truth, I wasnt sure either. I know I ordered gold, silver and antiquet copper and these were what were shipped to me. I thought the antique cooper would have like an orange tone to it. But, with me being new to this, I have stuck to the different platting that I ordered in all my descriptions. In the picture of the set above, first is the silver, to the right of that is the gold, and at the bottom is the antique copper (which I think looks more like maybe brass).

There are actually 2 California Coins. One is labled the "2006 California Geocoin" that was put out by The Dillion Gang. My coin is the "California Geocoin 2006." Yes I did make a new thread for my coin because, as judged by the responses I have gotten, cachers were unaware of the liquidation prices. If you were to look at my initial thread, you would see that I tried posting this info already previously but did not get the response I thought it should have gotten. So thus I started a new one and the response has been much better. I hope I have addressed your concerns satisfactorily. OK, update on sales. The Gold California Geocoin is now Sold out!!! I am by no means an expert on this since I am new to this as well. I have done one coin though and will offer you this. I myself prefer coins that are both trackable and have an icon. I have heard many others express that it really is not important to them whether a coin has an icon or not but stil many others say that they will not buy unless it does have an icon. I would error on the side of providing an icon so both sides are essentially happy. I really like shinny gold plattings and think your coin would look good with the Falcon being 3D and adding color detail around the Falcon of its surroundings. Have you thought about what you would want on the back of the coin?

I am only offering the Silver platting for trades currently. I do have coins available for purchase. I only have around 10 of the Antique copper left so they are reserved for buyers wanting a complete set of all 3 plattings. The Gold platting I have around 30 saved and the Silver plating I have maybe 40 saved. I want to keep alot of these coins for events and to release as well. I also enjoy placing them into caches in different cities I go to after caching in the area for the day as a "thank you" to the cachers in the area. I just recently did this in the Fresno area.
