  1. Congrats, you're now an official beta test site!! Please log into the beta testing forum and file your bug reports. Oh, wait. That's not working at the moment...
  2. As an additional FYI, I've been playing with this one. Seems to be a session related issue. The top stat won't update here unless the browser is closed and 20 mins or so expires. Given default state timeout for IIS is 20 minutes, now makes perfect sense. Can be shortened by closing browser and clearing the browser cache. Latest version of IE on fully patched XP running 3.5 framework if that matters to you. Hope it helps. -Roger
  3. Bug Report: New found caches in top right doesn't update. Currently showing 977. Just got done logging new finds, still shows 977 even though "old" counter shows a correct 998. Long night for the developers again tonight? -R
  4. I'm seeing an inordinate nuumber of ASPX errors, and it's throwing a server based ASPX error rather than the old version of the "Signal" default error page. Potential security issue there. I could post a screencap of an error, but again, that just adds fuel to the security issue. Simply looks like the current .config isn't set to redirect to a default error page. Take all that with a grain of salt though, I only do this for a living :-) -Roger
  5. While it's my understanding that any reviewer can publish, it could also be that due to the county permission portion it's being deferred temporarily to the more local reviewer. That's speculation though as I'm sure all the reviewers have access to guidelines. But if he should happen to be away for a day or two in this heavy vacation period I personally hope he/she is having a good time rather than publishing caches . Remember, it's only a game! -Roger
  6. I'll have to say, depends on the cache. If you're going to run me around the countryside, the only thing I ask, when done is have me reasonably back in the same area. That way I'm not overly inconvenienced. We recently did one that literally took us over 50 miles across VA, and dumped us off there. We did it, but were less than impressed as nothing in the cache description mentioned it. If you're going to take me multiple nice places - places that are worthwhile being at or I may not have found were it not for the cache, I'll give it rave reviews and drive the distance - but tell me beforehand!. If you're going to take me to three light poles and a lock-n-lock behind a dumpster you're going to get what you deserve. Just my .02 -Roger
  7. Figure up to 72 hours. The revewers are volunteers, they have lives too. I will say that the MD and VA reviewers I've dealt with are top notch in my experience. Someone tell the PTB at Groundspeak that they need raises -Roger
  8. I won't list the cache here as it's part of it's "mystique" but they have an ammo can that's literally the largest I've ever seen - waist height on my daughter... and it's empty except for a log. It's not what you put in the container - that'll be reduced to litter after a while. It's how you tie it to the find that will make it special. Just my .02 -Roger
  9. My answer? None. When I find them I usually free a bunch. Here's a good reason why... when they go missing they take a slew of bugs with them: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...6a-44726b1e8c50 Not picking on the hider at all, this is just an example. -Roger
  10. One placed here close in a fountain. Difficulty level is whether there's water in the fountain. Gets some interesting logs along this line: "I found this, I just don't think I should trespass/climb into the fountain full of water to get it. Attached is a picture. I have emailed the owner asking if it was good enough, until I hear otherwise I count this as a find. Unless of course I got the wrong spot. Thanks for the cache"
  11. He knew. He was just not trying to take all the credit all the time. Vinny's humble like that. -R
  12. Most finds in a day: 30 on 6/21/2008; 28 on 3/25/2008; 25 on 1/14/2007 Best weekend caching: 52 finds, on Saturday 6/21/2008 & Sunday 6/22/2008 Best week caching: 77 finds, from Monday 6/16/2008 to Sunday 6/22/2008 Most finds in a calendar month: 190, in Jun 2008 Fastest 100 finds: 8 days from 6/15/2008 to 6/22/2008 I personally can't see 100-200 finds in a day how it's done.. Maybe as a team with multiple people finding and logging, or it's just a high density 1/1 thing, but there are only so many lightpoles around!
  13. Why Flydad, you calculating your FTF percentage chances? -R
  14. Did this Tuesday. It has it all. Once you get past this cache all the rest seem mild :-) http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...cb-b79b502af6cd
  15. Yeah, sorry I put my ex in that cache - and she does have a way of keep popping up
  16. Nice Hummer My Unlimited: Just funnin ya on the Hummer. We have a JK also, I'd like a buck for all the times people don't realize it's a Jeep.
  17. Virginia is working on something similar. Generally referred to as "bio-bombs" here because the official stance is that they are paramount to biological waste - which indeed they are. -R
  18. Yeah, you get free admission to Camp Jeep 2008 also.
  19. They can't do Camp Jeep this year, let's see if they have the budget for travel bugs...
  20. Nice bike, but the wallpaper has to go! My wife and I bike cache - a lot. But we pretty much relegate ourselves to areas that are bike friendly like bike trails and single track areas. We'll also do urban areas that are bike friendly. (we mountain bike). Our general rule of thumb is that we won't go for a cache where the bikes are out of sight. We'll walk them if we have to, or we'll just not do the cache. I'm not warm and fuzzy leaving well more than $1K worth of bikes out of sight. We've never had an issue, and no ones really approached them, but I know if someone were to snatch and run I'm not catching them on foot! -Roger
  21. Thanks. I'll play with the categories. I understand tht the CSV wouldn't support, But the category functionality still could could it not? (Via macro versus convolutions in filters) Here's a cache that will munge with the parens: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...cf-e3915cd39774 and the same cache if you change the tag string in the waypoint name it should also display the TB issue by changing the Waypoint name string to %code%bug=*/%smart=7 Display looks like this: (Note the trailing slash is lost in the first entry) and as a FYI, none of this works on a Streetpilot 7200. While it has POI functionality it's a *totally* different display where the description info is displayed alngside a map screen, not in a screen of it's own. It has no screenshot function, but this is a POI/waypoint screen: It's saving grace however is that it does have a "delete all" for favorites, which is what I hate about the 680 we have
  22. Not here with numerous tries. I'm working with a 680. Maybe a unit/model difference? -R
  23. Actually found a way to break this, which was where I was going wrong. Leave it to me to find it :-) Can't name the file "geocache.gpx" and have a "geocache.bmp" file in the directory. Seems as if you do, the Nuvi ignores it. Change the file to "CustomPOI.gpx" and "CustomPOI.bmp" and the icon shows up just fine. Good work PilotSnipes, I'd love to see this get taken to the "next level" where rather than inserting into the waypoint name the cache type (ie /Tra) you categorize similar to the way that was done in Javapqmr's Work on the 60Csx ( http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=...amp;#entry41543 ) which does break out on the Nuvi the Caches by category under the Custom POI section. I have found some minor bugs in yours, primarily with Waypoint names that incorporate parens () where they're stripped and a numeric value inserted in their place. Also unless bug=* is the last variable in the name 1t will subesquently strip the trailing slash. Other users may want to keep this in mind when modifying as I have.. in my case the waypoint name was simplified to: %smart=15/%code%bug=* Regards, Roger
  24. Thanks, I'm an IT guy, so I'm not *completely* computer stupid, just slightly. I'll have to play with the zoom level, that's one place I haven't gone. I know that prior to pilotsnipes work I could load them as favorites with the geocache icon and they would show up at the same as the auto map level, and the wife is expecting the same functionality. I do get a grey dot and a label if I look for it in map view, dunno if it changes to an icon at a different zoom level. Nuvi is the wife's, I can only make limited changes to her world. This does make me want to try to see what my Streetpilot 7200 will support though. Thanks for your help. -Roger
  25. I can't get this to work on a Nuvi 680. When you say in the same folder, do you mean the computer folder on the machine running POI loader, or in the Nuvi folder that contains the loaded POI file on the nuvi itself? Thanks! Roger
