  1. Where do I go to place my reserve for the 2007 Compass Rose coin? I missed out last year,
  2. Is it possible to import that track into MapSend Topo and have it marked on the detail map so you can see it next time you are in the area?
  3. I have the 210 and love it. I bought the 210 for the main reason it used AA batteries and came with Topo maps. Got it for $160 New from eBay. Now. If I could rewind I would go for the 500LE. It gives the color, SD slot, and ability to use AA or rechargeable batteries. You just don't get Topo unless you spend some extra $$$. Go Geocaching I've used DirectRoute the most. Now saying that understand that you'll spend time with this new hobby of Geocaching and if you can afford good stuff then go for it. If you want something in the eXplorist line look at the 500LE. If you want to stay real cheap do not go below the 210 model. USB cable for the 210 is a must
  4. At one point my 210 would sort my waypoints by distance. Now it wants to do it alphabetically. Is it because I've got too many and now it is easy to simply sort by name rather than by distance from my current location?
  5. It should be fine. If the unit is turned on more than 250miles from its last fix it takes a little longer to get a new fix. I have one of these called the 315 and I've replaced it with an eXplorist 210. The accuracy of the eXplorist is much better.
  6. I was doing my normal 5 mile walk tonight and had this crazy idea. A Scuba Cache. I do not scuba but I do spend time at Lake Lanier. I thought I could use PVC to build the cache. http://buford.linxdev.com/cache.jpg The only way to get to it would be to dive to it. The weight may be so heavy that it goes too deep in the mud?
  7. Tried Vmplayer with a install of Windows XP? Might allow you to only have one laptop.
  8. Not as funny as this comment What good is that answer?
  9. Thanks!!! I found gpsbable which runs in Linux to do the conversion. This is a good thing since I do run Linux. I have a Windows box I only use to run Topo and DirectRoute.
  10. I've emailed them twice about software questions and have gotten no response. As far as I'm concerned it appears I'm on my own with their products.
  11. How do you guys find your good spots to hide a cache. It seems one rule is not on private property or in a park managed by the NPS. I live in the Atlanta metro and it seems that either land is private or public via a park of some type. I want to create a cache and hide it but I'm trying to figure out that the best type of spot is.
  12. I am looking for a site that will allow me to download track files of trails in the Great Smokey Mountains for use in Topo and eXplorist 210. The software can show trails but apparently when I drill down in the GSM all I see are POI's of a point on the trail. I don't actaully see the trail on the map. One idea I have is that I can sue the track feature of the 210 to create a track when I walk the trails and upload them to the software. I'm hoping that for some of the trails someone has done this. any ideas?
  13. The last poster was right. You don't really need an ant for the windsheild or hiking. I have just replaced my Magellan 315 with an eXplorist 210. I've not been so surpirsed about a rise in technology and a drop in price. Go to http://www.thegpsstore.com and purchase the Outdoor kit. It comes with USB cable, Cig adapter, Case, and Topo software for around $200. I got mine new off eBay for around $160 shipped. I've also tried the DirectRoute software and it works well. It seems to be a little dated with the data but I tried it in Orlando and it got me where I was going. I wish that instead of chargine $100 for the software that they would charge around < $50 and come out with an updated version every year like Street Atlas. The 210 has 22mb of internal memory and runs on AA batteries. You can use rechargabel AA's like I do. My 315 used to run only 4 hours on one set and this claims to run 17. I believe it right about that. It has good reception too. I took my daughters to Magic Kingdom in Orlando over this week and tried an experiment. I wore the GPS on my belt all day with it on. I go to the park 1 hour late and left 2 hours early. The GPS read about 10 miles on the odo. Impressive for a day at Disney. My wife claimed around 5 and I claimed around 10. MY guess is that with the extra hours it could read up to 13. I think that if you don't want the AA option you could buy a 500 with Li-Ion. There is no outdoor kit so you may have to buy the cig adapter and cable seperate. MY only gripe is support. I've emailed Magellan a few times about questions and not one person has responded to me.
