  2. What a Dick, nuff said!!! Did you check out the Dicknimbus profile? I wish bad things on Dicknimbus!!!! Love, Paul
  3. OK I checked NMEA is off. I just don't think I'm connecting to my GPS. While trying to upgrade the software I am getting a window that says "establishing communication with reciver" And then it tries to connect using com1 at 1200, 4800, 9600, 19200 baud then it tries com2, com3 and com4 then it starts over again at com1 This is driving me nutso any Ideas? Paul
  4. quote:My point is, there are more and more people joining this sport. If we were all use ammo boxes where would they come from? Obviously someone somewhere would need to use the ammo in them to free them up for caching. This means everytime you buy an ammo box, someone probably dies. If you use tupperware all that happens is that your leftovers get a little crunchy. I don't know about you but I can live with that.USE TUPPERWARE, SAVE A LIFE Let's all look at it this way, if we use all the ammo boxes they won't be able to carry any ammo to the battle. So by using the ammo boxes we are doing our part to end war. Leave the tupperware in the fridge where it belongs protecting my bologna from the harsh environment in my meat drawer. Thank you, Paul
  5. Ammo boxes don't kill people, and at least the ammo box doesn't "BURP" on you when you open it (how rude) Paul
  6. yup, that was where I had it set at. But still nothing Paul
  7. OK, i'm trying to upgrade to 3.12 I have been following the instruction exactly when I get to the point where it says "Updating to version 3.12. Proceed with software upload?" I accept and then all it does is scroll through the com ports and never does anything. Yes my GPS is on, yes it's plugged into the back. I have it plugged into my computer into the slot that has a picture like this above it [00] (or a box w/ 2 circles in it) it's the only spot on my computer that it could plug into, perhaps it's the wrong slot. Help, Paul
  8. I picked these up last night. Very comfortable, can't wait to try them out today. Thanks for everyones input. Paul
  9. I'll have to look into easyGPS too, I just got my Platinum so I don't have many waypoints saved onto it anyway. It sounds like now will be the best time to upgrade. Thanks for the info, Paul
  10. Is it worth my trouble upgrading from v3.08 to v3.12? Just wondering what your thoughts were on that. Thanks again, Paul

  12. I think I'm gonna get these Waterproof Hikers I have decided to get some hikers after my feet got soaked on my last hunt. My 7 year old converse HighTops just couldn't keep my feet dry.
  13. You may have read about it by now but you can get the Magellan Meridian Platinum at www.shopharmony.com for only $239.00 (plus shipping) I got mine there and so did some other people. Hope this helps, Paul
  14. I just bought my first GPS (Meridian Platinum)from ShopHarmony.com for $239 as CreagerStone Family said. I used it to find my first cache (Ben's Bin) last Saturday in a rain storm, under tree cover and it led me right to it, no problem in about 10 min. (I really put it being waterproof to the test). I found my 2nd cache the next day. Again, I had no problems. Can't wait to upgrade the maps. My 2 cents, Paul
  15. <------- That's me Not much of a story, just another hobby.
  16. I just found my first 2 this weekend, what a BLAST!!!! I found "Ben's Bin" and "Rocky Narrows Cache". I have the next few all picked out, it just really stinks having to bump the clocks back an hour becuase now it's dark at 5:00 Anyway, I'll get a few more before winter sets in.
  17. Sounds good, except for the "screw it up royally" part Paul
  18. Does this sound right? last night I sat in my front yard and made a waypoint called "home" then, w/out getting up or moving I did a goto "home" and it said I was 22' away. Is it normal to be that off? I figured maybe 5 or 10 feet but 22? Just wondering, thanks. Paul
  19. I just got my Platinum last night and if I remember correctly (don't have it with me at the moment) you can click the "goto" button then click on "user" and your saved waypoints will be in there, just pick the one you want. Hope this helps, remember this is just from me playing with it last night for the first time. Paul
  20. But I'm glad I did. My first GPS came yesterday by UPS and I think I just about killed my batteries already while inputing 11 local caches. I don't want to do that again, talk about a waste of time. Thanks for the info, I'm gonna go look into EasyGps, I assume there is a link around here someplace. FYI, I got the Meridian Platinum (Very Cool) Paul
  21. It's a game rated M for mature, just like a movie that is rated R. Guess what, I don't let my son go to a rated R movies or do I let him play an M rated game (unless I have checked it out first) Parents have been playing the blame game since I was a kid and even before that I'm sure. I am 32 so I'm not old and not young. I own my own house have a child that is doing great in school. I don't blame OZZY for some poor kid killing himself and I don't blame video games for our nations murderers (I think people were killing people way before video games came out) I will continue to listen to MetallicA, Ozzy and Judas Priest. I will play games called Dead to Rights, Halo, etc. and I will watch cartoons called Bugs Bunny. But I will also help my son with his homework, play with him at the park, ride dirtbikes with him and now bring him GeoCaching. If parents don't show their children that there is more to life than video games, then the children will think that video games are life especially if they allowed to play them 24-7. It's not the video games that are bad, it's the parents!!!! Great topic, don't be sorry. It's discussions like this that make me glad to live in the good ol' USA!!! I love seeing other peoples views and love sharing mine, do with it what you will!!! Paul
  22. P is the first letter of my first name, BARR is the first four letters of my last name and 86 is the year I got sober. easy enough? Paul
