  1. I just encountered this bug. I hope that HQ has acknowledged this and added it to a list of bugs to fix. It would also be nice if we could rotate the picture via the phone app at the time we are posting. I post the required selfies for Virtuals and Earthcaches when I log from my phone and they nearly all need to be rotated later. I often don't think to do so unless I am updating a note to a find after submitting answers.
  2. My 10k milestone is locked in as: GC8FYA6 GPS Adventures Maze - Wauseon, Ohio A cache by Midwest Geobash Hidden : 07/24/2021 Exhibit Hours: · Thursday, July 22, 2021 – (5pm - 7pm) – First Look MWGB 2021 Flamingo Club Members, Super Awesome Flamingo Friends, Friends of the Maze, Sponsors/Special Guests Only · Friday, July 23, 2021 – (5p-7pm) – Open to the Public · Saturday, July 24, 2021 – (10am - 4:30pm) – Open to the Public I paid for the "Flamingo Club" registration package so that I could visit and log this icon as my 10k milestone on 7/22/2021, carefully planning out my day so that I was at 9,999 when I got in line for the maze. After the visit, I submitted my "found it" log and took screenshots of the congratulatory 10,000th find screen and the smiley face showing on the event. Later that evening, my log was gone. I resubmitted with a friend watching and we both saw my found it log on our separate devices and then moments later, refreshed the screen and saw my log disappear. It was automatically deleted by HQ without any notification because the posted event date was in the future. I was able not able to log the event until 7/24. This was the day when my friends and I achieved a busy day of 15 icons, but for me it should have been only 14 since I considered my GPS Adventures Maze visit to be find 10k on 7/22. I did re-visit the exhibit on 7/24, but it bothers me that both my milestone and my busy day stats were impacted. I have visited two other Adventure Maze exhibits, both on the day prior to the date that I was forced to log the events by HQ. I consider it a "bug" but I guess HQ considers it a "feature."
  3. Also watching for the answer to which Event types qualify in this challenge. I attended a CITO and did some AL stages on 8/10; I have found traditionals on several days since the challenge began. I suspect the CITO was not considered an event, but it could be something to do with the general problem reported by HQ. I'll be going to a couple regular events later this month, so It's not a pressing matter, just curious.
  4. The first one I know of is at a rest stop on I-95 near East Haven, CT. Sit in your car or at a picnic table and answer 110 questions. Many more even larger ones are popping up. I've chosen to avoid them and declined to add my AL to a local effort. Others are loving them. I imagine HQ is giving thought to how they give out AL credits in the future and will need to factor this in.
  5. Same problem on my Android. I have to open the cache in the browser to send a message. Has HQ acknowledged this bug, yet? I would simply like to know that they have replicated and are working to fix it.
  6. I was going to make the switch from Android to iPhone this month. I wouldn't want to do so if the app is not available for iOS by Fall of 2021. Do you think that's a realistic timeframe for the updated app to be back in the store? I see wig's going the way of old virtuals over time, especially as more Adventure Labs are published. I still seek out Wherigo's and I expect I will do so even more if/as they dwindle in number. I the meantime, if I make the switch to iOS, I will need to carry an alternate device to use for wig's.
  7. When is Uruguay going to get a souvenir?! I sadly won't do any international travel this year, but I would still like to get a (retroactive) country souvenir.
  8. Thanks for the idea, but it doesn't appear to work in IE or Edge and I don't have Chrome or Firefox on the device I use when travelling. What browser/device are you using where hover and right click does the job?
  9. I really appreciate the new way of editing a list item with a personal description. One thing I nearly always do for significant finds (such as those placed on FTF or challenge qualification lists) is to paste the link to my log in my personal notes. In the old lists, the link would show up as a hyperlink that I could click to go directly to the found log. The new lists, just display the text of the URL rather than setting it as a hyperlink. I hope that you will add this to your bug list to correct in an upcoming release.
  10. I just read about the new promotional trackables and saw two TMNT events listed in the USA, Kentucky and Tennessee. I couldn't find any information about holding an event. I would be interested in holding one in NY's Capital Region. Is there a special process to go through similar to the GIFF and Creation Celebration events? Thanks.
  11. Thanks for the replies. It is good to know that Groundspeak has attempted to programmatically enforce the D1 event guideline. And good to know that it is likely that a reviewer was duped by after publication changes. I have noticed that some cachers manage to get around guidelines by "tricking" the reviewer, for example supplying different final coordinates for a physical stage of a puzzle or multi in order to place it less than one tenth mile from an existing physical cache. As long as there are people and guidelines, there will be people that find ways to get around the guidelines. Early in 2017, I had some frustrations with denied events, so I gave up on hosting events - except the GIFF that I've hosted in the same location for three years. I want to keep my hobby fun, so if an aspect of it takes away from my enjoyment, I will avoid that aspect.
  12. I'd like to understand how an event such as, https://coord.info/GC7E7K3, can be published? Some small group of cachers in this area have set up 31 events for each day of January. The events appear to all be at restaurants from 18:15-18:45, yet the events have many different D/T ratings. I thought that all events needed to be a difficulty of 1 and that the terrain should reflect that of the location. Yet, four of the 31 events are in restaurants in nearly the same location and have the following D/T's: Day 2: 5/2, Day 9: 3.5/4, Day 23: 2.5/2.5, Day 24: 3.5/4.5. How does one reviewer publish these, yet another reviewer would reject them for improper D/T ratings? and possibly for stacking - one person or group blocking others from placing events in the area? I recently travelled to Austin, TX and attended two events that were intentionally stacked - one to trim an outdoor tree and the other, 30 minutes later and 2.5 miles down the road, to have hot chocolate after trimming the tree. Both events referred to the other and most people went directly from one to the other. I stopped for some caches in between and got to the second event just 15 minutes before the official end time, yet the CO's had already left. They didn't reply to a note on the cache page or a message asking if I was at the correct location until the next day. Clearly some reviewers follow the guidelines to questionable extremes (rejecting events that are meant for different audiences based on drive times/bridge locations/adult-locale vs family-friendly, using their own arbitrary "as the crow flies" mileage requirement,) while other reviewers seem to ignore the guidelines. I would ask that Groundspeak provide training to the reviewers on how to apply the subjective event guidelines, adjusting as appropriate and reasonable for traffic, bridges, and intended audiences. And, if I understand correctly, that events are all supposed to be D1, perhaps it's time to 1) update the cache submission code for events to not allow any difficulty rating other than D1, and 2) request that the old challenge caches that require the 81 D/T combinations for Event caches be archived or modified to correspond to the new event guidelines.
  13. How do I get the latest version of the app to install on my phone? I have version 4.4.1 on a Samsung Galaxy4. I have upgraded the app recently, but apparently that didn't work. Tonight, I uninstalled the app, then did what I thought was a fresh install from the Google play store and I'm still far behind. Can I download from the Groundspeak website to get the proper version?
  14. Thanks for your thoughts. I got a reply today saying they were opening the event to more people, based on demand, so I have a ticket. I still think it would be good for a cache page update or announcement with total and remaining number of tickets.
  15. https://coord.info/GC6ZG66 in Houma, LA 2/18 - With the long weekend approaching, I checked the event calendar and saw what sounded like a fun event and chance to earn a coin for completing a series of caches near New Orleans. Seeing only about 15 "Will Attend" logs and no indication that the event was in any danger of selling out from either the cache page or the free ticket website, I asked for a few days off from work and made travel arrangements. Two days later (2/6) when I knew I could attend, I followed the instructions to obtain my free ticket and saw that the event was now "Sold Out." The cache page still did not indicate this and the 15 logs appeared to amount to about 25-30 people. I emailed the contact person and the prompt reply was: "There is been a total number of 120 "sold" for this event from people who have followed the post's instructions to "purchase" on Event Brite. We only have 100 coins and limited space for our breakfast mixer event. We have tried to make it as clear as possible on all of our outlets that a ticket must be reserved to guarantee a spot for the event. For that reason, most people did not mark a "will attend" and rather just followed the link to purchase their tickets." I sent a few follow up questions via email on 2/7, asking if I can attend the event briefly without the meal, whether I can still try to do the caches to earn the coin (according to the cache page people with event tickets have dibs on the coins), and whether they still have coins available for the local geotrail (as an alternative.) I have not gotten a reply. Is this "normal" practice for an event? Shouldn't the event page indicate that no more people can attend?
