  1. Yeah, my husband and I have been planning on watching it all week. He says that they filmed all day, and the part about caching will be about 7 or 8 minutes. I hope it's good!
  2. Others have already said what I would like to say. At the risk of being accused of jumping "on random passing bandwagons" (which I am not, I am only speaking my own opinion on this subject), I will add my vote to amount of people who agree that this ban was far too harsh a punishment and most certainly did not fit the crime. The moderator should apologise, as this was completely out of line with the guidelines, including the unfair guidelines of her forum. More likely, however, this will be ignored by the powers that be. This sort of thing has become rather frequent, and this is why I hardly visit this forum. I prefer local forums, where I can find some sanity (or some fun insanity, at least). I am seriously considering cancelling my renewal for my Premium membership. In the words of Forrest Gump, "That's all I got to say about that."
  3. Congratulations Mr B! And thanks to Mandarin for her timely notification, much appreciated. NO, SORRY Birdman-of-liskatraz we now have two standards for UK cachers:- 1) Did you attend Harrogate Mega Event? ANSWER:- YES:- You are a wonderful cacher, all your children will do well and you know all the UK caching secrets, all of your caches will be approved without question and in fact GC.COM would like you to have it's children!!! NO:- You are no longer a cacher, you should have sold your house, your wife, and your children to get the train fare to Harrogate, you are a DNF on the Megaevent radar!!! As you did not attend the Mega Event you are a "sub-standard" cacher, the UK reviewers/moderators think you are a slug, blimey it's only 4 Hours by road to Harrogate!!!! Go into your garden and kill yourself!! OK, To any USA Moderators, I'M JOKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any UK, moderators, well you are still pissed!!!!!!!!!! BC Thanks for that Beds Clangers, you've made my evening!
  4. Well said Mandy, and well done! You deserve to hold your head high.
  5. The person who complained had the ability and time to explain their reasons before the so-called current environment happened. And even in the current environment, if they have a valid reason for complaining, then I'm sure that the good people of this forum would back off. The Hornet already made this point. I am not going to go round and round in circles with you, though. I have said my piece, and now I am off.
  6. Just because someone makes a complaint (or two or three or three thousand four hundred thirty two), that does not mean that it is valid. Are you saying that cancer research is neither helpful nor of use to the UK community? Even if you meant the geocaching community, that's still ridiculous. If you mean that none of this debate is helpful nor of use to the UK (or geocaching) community, then there is no point to these forums, if we should not debate or express our opinions in it.
  7. Is it, are you sure, can you see inside their heads and read their thoughts? I don't have to reach into this person's head and read their thoughts. Their actions speak for themselves. And you have missed my point completely. So here it is again: There is no harm in what Mandy is doing.
  8. mongoose, that is the reaction this person has received because they don't have a valid reason for reporting Mandy, and they are not acting in the best interests of UK geocachers! Mandy is working hard to do good things for people in need. This does no harm to the geocaching community at all. I find it deplorable that someone would try to undermine that good work by complaining about it. The word "jobsworth" comes to mind.
  9. Yes! I'm still here! I've been wondering what happened to this.
  10. What? I thought that you just got 1400! You did just get 1400! There's no stopping you. Congratulations!
  11. I agree completely. TBs and GCs are not swaps. As the owner of a few travelling geocoins, I like to see them do just that - travel. I feel a bit sad if I see that a cacher or two has left my coin sitting. Then my coin is stuck! I pick up almost every travelling item I find. I do this to try to help them on their way. Even if I cannot help it on its mission, I think that just keeping it moving helps it. At least it picks up a bit of mileage. The only time that I don't pick one up is when I know that my doing so will go against its mission. Just my 2 pence worth.
  12. So, would you class this as a micro or a small? I'm not sure that this is what they meant by cache and dash!
  13. We've had a few run ins here and there with getting the dog over stiles and fences (and a couple of walls!), but I just see that as a part of geocaching. I, as a human, sometimes have problems clambering over such obstacles as well. In fact, there are times when I'm trying to deal with a burn or climb a hill, and the dog is running circles around me. Our black Lab has figured out stiles. Occasionally, when we run into a fence or a wall, I have to grab her back legs and hoist her up. She has learned that when I do this, then she should leap up and over at the same time. It works most of the time. But when it goes wrong, it goes comically wrong (and I end up looking around to see if anyone saw what happened). I can see how people with less agile dogs would have a problem. A new attribute could be of use to them. But I think that there will still be problems now and then. There are a few caches where dogs are either not allowed or need to be on leads for at least a part of the way, but this is not mentioned in the description. Some cache setters simply don't realise that this will be a problem for some people. That's just the way that life (and caching) goes sometimes.
  14. Right now, I have 3 undrilled geocoins out in "the wild". They are doing very well (one made it all the way out to California and is on its way back), a credit to the geocachers who have handled them. They are in their plastic protectors, with a note included to let people know the mission and that this is not a swapable item. I have left the protectors open so that people can handle the coins. It's funny because my GCs are doing better than my cheap TB did! My TB is permanently in the hands of a 12 year old boy who seems to have turned his back on geocaching. Ah well, that's the way it goes! For this reason, I only release GCs that I have doubles of. There are 4 "single" GCs that ride along in my cache bag with me. I'm trying to decide what to do with them ("Have You Met Me," "Personal Coin" seem like possibilities). As others have said, finding an actual coin in a cache is a great feeling. It adds to the whole "buried treasure" thing that we all seem to be addicted to. It seems like a waste when I see my GCs sitting at home, unused. Whatever you decide to do with yours, I wish you luck.
  15. The one with the GX sign in white looks good! That is, the black GX with the white background, I mean.
  16. So THAT'S how I ended up in those bramble bushes! Thanks for solving the mystery, lordelph!
  17. Ooooooo I like Mark And Lynn's logo. It's bee-yoo-tee-full!
  18. I can put out another cache or two in Scotland. I haven't put in for any more than my one because I didn't want to be greedy and take an area that might be appealing to someone else. However, it doesn't look like anyone else is coming forward at this time. I'll give it another day, then I'll add myself to another couple of counties, if that's acceptable.
  19. Missy will volunteer for this one (she's such an attention seeker). Do I send her picture with my e-mail?
  20. I agree completely with Haggis Hunter on this one. What he says makes sense. I know that it has been said before, but the plain and simple fact is, this is going to be difficult enough as it is. Other people seem to find puzzle caches easy, but I often need help with them. I hate to hassle people for help (however, if help is volunteered, I accept it gratefully ). Multis? While most multis are no problem, there are times when I muck those up horribly. That's frustrating enough when I'm about 45 minutes from home. How much worse would it be, if I were on the other side of the country, had invested much time, energy and money in getting there, and couldn't get the cache? No thank you. I think that trads and simple offsets only are the way to go. There's already so much that could go wrong (especially when I'm caching)!
  21. I doubt that the tree grants peoples' wishes when they've killed it!
  22. This isn't on the list yet. We also need to decide what counties we are using, for example the list has Edinburgh, East/West/Mid Lothian and yet the map covers it all as Lothian?? Which is the original region. I think that we should use all of the regions (counties) on Rutson's list. West Lothian is there. The map doesn't seem detailed enough to me. As Team Incredible has pointed out already, Falkirk and Lothians are shown as one county on the map, which is definitely wrong. I believe that the map is only being used to get a rough idea of which areas are still open, but Rutson's list is being used to define the counties. It looks good to me! Poor Rutson, though, it must be difficult to keep the list up to date!
  23. A strange thing, I clicked on the milvus-milvus' link and read the cache log. I was interested to see how many caches this person had done, and whether they moved other caches as well. In his/her profile, it says that they have done 2 multi caches. When you go in to see what they are, though, it only shows one! Maybe I'm missing something?
  24. Yes, I was going to say that, in our area, allieballie writes quite long and interesting logs. They make you feel like you've been to the cache with her! Jack Aubrey's logs are also quite good. It's very entertaining when he sticks to the theme of his caching name, what with the Surprise (his vehicle), the First Lieutenant (his son) and the Admiral (his father, I believe). Oh, and we can't forget about his queen, Firth Of Forth. Great stuff!
