  1. Bump....and I am looking forward to this one being approved, there is many places that can be logged for this category.
  2. You got my vote for this category, good idea. There has to be many small post offices still in use include the busiest one in Saskatchewan on Valentine's Day at Love, SK. If I lived closer to there I would log it as soon as possible.
  3. Used to have Magellen 315 and 2000XL Now have Garmin eTrex Legend and Legend Cx. I really like the Cx compared to any I have used in the past.
  4. New eTrex Legend Cx is what I am using now and it has been performing better than the older Legend. I am located in Western Canada and most of the time it receives 3 metres accuracy but I have been down to 2 metres very often. I am very impressed with the new Legend Cx.
  5. Update on Saskatchewan Historical Markers category: Right now the group officer voting is taking place and once the vote is complete the category will move onto peer review and once that takes place it should be approved. When this category is approved we can go out and find as many markers as we can. Thanks for all the interest in this new category and thank you to those members that have joined the group.
  6. "Also, look at the Reset option on the Trip Computer screen. The screen lets you do mass deletions of a number of different things, including waypoints and routes." This is how I do a mass delete of waypoints on the older Legend I have and the new Legend Cx I just recently bought. There is check boxes for what you want to delete and all waypoints is one of them along with all saved tracks and several others.
  7. I just bought a Legend Cx and updated it with the auto updater as well. Great little unit and a nice upgrade form the older Legend I used before. I just wish they would come out with an update to increase the user waypoints from 500 to 1000. They did that with the older Legend and having 1000 waypoints was nice to have instead of 500. I contacted Garmin with that request and the tech support thinks it is an excellent idea and is passing the request on to the right people.
  8. This probably could have been made a sub-category of the category already created "Roadside Attractions". The category was made for this including the link on the description page to 'Roadside America' and 'Large Canadian Roadside Attractions'.
  9. This could also be put into sub-categories: Saskatchewan Historical Markers: - history of an area or community - school districts and school house - church - marker of an historical event
  10. This category would log the historical markers that dot the countryside all over Saskatchewan. There are many markers I see when I drive across country road for work and it would be nice to take a few minutes and log each one. This will give a database of the markers of many places that might have been forgotten about and history of the area lots of people might not even know. The category proposal was submited in the forums today, I am not sure if it will be approved or when it may be approved. Here is a link to the group I have created to manage this category. Please join the group and help log and manage the Saskatchewan Historical markers. There is a need of at least three managers for the each category so if your interested please join the group. http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/details.a...86-11f7b00a7aa1
  11. Here is a link to the group for the Roadside Attractions. http://www.Waymarking.com/groups/details.a...87-1d8ee7b4634a
  12. Take a look at the Large Roadside Attractions category and if it one that interests you please join. If you are someone that has already added a waymark to the Large Roadside Attraction please consider joining this group. Thanks and have a great summer Geocaching and Waymarking. Spud67
  13. I have been interested in getting the navigator as an upgrade from metroguide. The metroguide Canada is just Canada and a little bit of the northern US. Navigator North America covers almost all of North America as far as I have seen looking at the Garmin webiste. When I can afford the navigator I will probably buy it but I would also like another GPS receiver with more memory.
  14. I went looking for something about the Trans Canada Trail on here thinking it would make a great category to add to Waymarking. I found nothing so here I am in the Forums and here is a proposal idea. I think it would be a great idea, part of the trail is just north of where I live in Saskatchewan. I haven't been on much the the trail in this area but what I have been on is great as it follows along the Qu'Appelle Valley in Southern Saskatchewan. Something like the Trans Canada Trail that will cross the country would make a great category, all the trail heads, sign and information posts would be a great addition to Waymarking. I hope this post gets people talking about this again. Spud
  15. We can't forget about Climax, Saskatchewan or Colgate, Saskatchewan. There are so many this would be an excellent category.
  16. Excellent for southern Saskatchewan and Alberta as well. Great proposal, I could add many since my future brother-in-law is an operator and looks after 81 well in a very small area of southern Saskatchewan.
  17. This proposal is more than just 'Ginormous Everyday Objects', this is for large roadside attractions that actually mean something to someone or some place. They should have a historical reference or a plaque nearby with some information telling visitors about the roadside attraction. Adding country sub-categories would be great, I live in Canada so I started with that idea and I know where there are many of these large roadside attractions in Western Canada. Anyone is welcome to add waymarks from any place, not just for Canadians. This proposal is being considered for a category already and I have been contacted in regards to this category. I look forward to this idea taking shape into a category.
  18. Towns like Miami, Manitoba and Love, Saskatchewan or even Vulcan, Alberta could be a few that could be added.
  19. Many places accross Canada, small towns to large cities have these attractions. Items like the World's Largest Easter Egg in Vegerville, AB is an example of one of these roadside attractions. I think it would be great to have a Waymark for these attractions. Excellent trip on a vacation to record and travel to as many as you could on a vacation.
  20. Sounds good to me, I work at rodeos all over and have been to many rodeos indoors and outdoors. Nothing like getting a few caches in an area while there working a rodeo.
  21. We just spent a week in a Manitoba Provincial Park that has no power, no phone and no store. There is the start of a cabin area but until this year there was nothing but campers and tents. A generator there would be very distrubing at any time of the day or night. We cooked all the meals on the fire, including beans cooked in the can on the fire, corn on the cob (in the husk) and the steaks we had a couple nights. We also cooked the fish we caught on the fire, nothing like this week of camping. There was one generator I heard once but it was so far away it never bothered us and there were so few people there it was very quiet and relaxing.
  22. Another yes vote from me. Sounds like a great idea and there would be some close by here for me to visit and log.
  23. Many places around the country are famous for some roadside attractions. Large statues or objects that the area or community are famous for. Some example would be the Indian Head at Indian Head, SK, Vegerville, AB has the worlds largest Easter egg, Narcisse, MB and the large garter snake statue. There are many of these all over the North America and I think would make a great Waymark to add to the system.
  24. The great grey north is gone. Very nice to finally see, one thing that would be nice to see on the maps would be highway numbers. There are no numbers on any of the highways or roads, not even the Trans canada #1 or #16.
