  1. I have a 60csx with topo canada and cn 2009 and this weekend I seen that while in map mode that north was not where it was supposed to be but in compas mode it was fine. Do I just have too much loaded on my mem card and there is an error reading all that information or what. I did calibrate the compas but it still was off. It is ok if I move fast but at slow speed like walking it was off. Any info.

One idea is to check to see if the battery saver option is turned on (setup system). It doesn't update as often and could explain some of the behavior of the GPSr. If battery saver is on, set it to normal.

  2. Hello!

I am thinking of placing a cache at the public library where I work and am wondering what other library-themed caches are out there?

If anyone owns, knows of, or has found such a cache, I would appreciate it if you would post the link or GC#.

    Thanks!

Check these out. They are in Ramsey County Library system (hence the RCL), each having a piece of info for a final cache, not at a library.

RCL Series - AH by tesser (GC19V1F)

RCL Series - MP by tesser (GC19V1Q)

RCL Series - MV by tesser (GC19V0P)

RCL Series - RV by tesser (GC19V1W)

RCL Series - Final by tesser (GC19V24)

  3. While in Heidelberg on a tour, I found a cache a short walking distance from the castle, and a short distance from the edge of the street: "Castle cache by Carrie,Rob, and Jessie (GC890F)", still active and recently found. I came close to a couple of caches in Munich, near the Olympic site, but could not break away from the group to go chasing into the woods. The cache I found in Frankfurt was about 0.25 miles from the hotel... a good reason to get up early and go for a walk.

I loaded as many caches from PQ's as I could in a reasonable radius around our hotels and caches on a route as POI's in my Garmin MAP60CSX. Without WAAS, the error is higher and some caches should have been easier than they were and resulted in more DNF's. Lots of fun though.

  4. Could this have anything to do with the recent change to the subject line ...
No. This problem is with notices about objects for which you are the owner, not copies of email you sent.
I'm sure some mail handlers are going to balk at the < trying to redirect it into a backdoor or something like a buffer overflow.
I shouldn't think so. RFC2822 says the Subject field is unstructured.

I made the switch over to an account at gmail.com and started to receive the emails just fine. I also forwarded one of the notices to the comcast account and it came through without problem. The base64 was converted by gmail to 7 bit encoding and comcast web mail was happy. I am sticking with gmail for a while, even if it is not perfect.

  5. I also had several conversations with comcast. Coincidentally, a fiber optic cable was cut over the weekend in the St. Paul, MN area so I let the problem rest for a couple of days. I have an open trouble ticket with comcast from Monday (yesterday) after trying some of the usual mods for security settings, etc.

...ooops duplicate post. Another time out issue?

  7. Many parks do not allow off path hiking. This has zero to do with geocaching. It applies to all users of the park. Sometimes it is related to erosion control and might be temporary in nature. I'd check with the ranger or land manager if it really concerned me that much. In the meantime I'd also abide by the rules for the park and remain on marked trails only.

If you do happen to check this out with the park authorities, let us know what they say, will you?

Is 3 rivers a private park? Perhaps you could post a link to their information page.

    It is: http://www.threeriversparkdistrict.org/parks/

  8. Wow, I'm glad you're OK! You certainly have a great attitude about it!

I hope the ER gave you a prescription for the Epi-Pen. If you get the double pack, you should get a trainer with it. It's a handy little thing.

Also, Benadryl now makes strips that are just like the Listerine breath strips. Each strip is the equivalent of 2tsp of Benadryl, which is the normal dose for an adult. They're very compact to carry and work quickly.

Yes I picked up my Epi Pens yesterday! And that's interesting about the benadryl strips, I was wondering how i was going to Cary the pills in my wallet?

Thanks for the kind words guys! Yes it was our first hunt, but i am not giving up! My kids ........That's another story, there a little freaked out. But they will be OK, it's a great lesson for them and all of us that when were in the outdoors ..to always be prepared! And like i told my 6 year old son they(bees) were only defending there home!

I look forward to the frost. I am searching for bees / wasps these days while looking for the cache. Just yesterday, in cool wet weather, I came across a nest but didn't get stung (lucky!). I had an EpiPen and Benadryl with me. I didn't find the cache either. If you don't carry a backpack / fannypack / purse, how do guys carry these things?

Also, keep your expired ones... they have a short shelf life (~ 1 year). They might not be as effective but better than nothing.
