I'm excited to watch Canada lose a lot

About how many times a week do you go geocaching?
Mr Kaswa replied to marsik123's topic in General geocaching topics
Maybe once a week. -
Recently I received a log along the lines of, "Found it with my flash light"...I think in cases like that I might just prefer "TFTC" i'm not sure about '.' or blank though. edited to be less abrupt.

Avatars and Cache counts and Bears - Oh God
Mr Kaswa replied to Frank Drebbin's topic in General geocaching topics
I don't care for it, the layout of the name/avatar/type of member/find counts(s) looks awkward and cluttered...is it enough for me to complain about though? no, I don't think so. -
Everybody has a default avatar now.. did they have had to turn off their shiny new feature in an attempt to reduce server load?

When over 16 miles is closer then less then 3 miles...
Mr Kaswa replied to Coldgears's topic in General geocaching topics
That would be the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission. Penndot are the peole who put out the really funny looking benchmarks! P.D.H. Benchmark. It wasn't too bad a guess from 2945 miles away, as the Google map drives. -

Mr Kaswa replied to Coldgears's topic in General geocaching topics
Maybe Penndot has a feedback section and you can start one asking for a more convenient bridge? -

One second falls west of Revelstoke, BC on Highway 1. It seems to be having a small cache moving around problem right now but by next summer it should probably be good

The little helper script has the option to show a light blue circle around your home coords, any chance it could be that or another script?
-
Doesn't this sign have something to do with weight restrictions during the spring?

I was looking for a cache in a provincial park and the coords seemed to be taking me towards a very large boulder, and there, at the base, was this little hollow space covered in lose rocks. I started moving the rocks aside and sure enough there was a lid, so I pulled out the "cache", only to discover a glass jar with somebodies stash. It was a reasonably popular jogging/dog walking location and I figured that it was just a locals stash, "honey I'm talking the dog for a joint errr walk!"

Can you show me pictures of your signature items?
Mr Kaswa replied to gesharp's topic in General geocaching topics
Thanks in part to this topic I was inspired to try the artwork in the bottle cap with resin. The penny one was for trips to the US and the goat one was for a trip specifically to Glacier National Park. The one with the dogwood, BC's provincial flower, was for a recent trip to Alberta and Saskatchewan, where one was confirmed taken to be turned into a brooch! I was considering magnets for the next batch but haven't found any small and powerful enough to go inside the cap. Maybe glue some to the backside? -
Should Kids be allowed to post in the forums?
Mr Kaswa replied to GeoGeeBee's topic in General geocaching topics
Shouldn't that be, "than"? Is that what the kids mean when they say, " hoisted by your own petard"? It should be "hoist with his own petard." As a direct quote of Shakespeare it certainly would be, but if I am not quoting I think I could get away with it. I did however use quotations so perhaps the fuse is lit and the castle door is somewhat more distant than I thought -

Post a picture of your local area!

Mine seems to overlap Ambient Skater's map..Hi neighbour! Edited because I didn't do it right the first time -
I use one of these sling packs from MEC.

I actually use both of those macros at the same time

New maps. (beta) not an improvement
Mr Kaswa replied to JoesBar's topic in General geocaching topics
+1 Also, on the old maps when I click on a cache near the top of the map the map automatically scrolls down to make room for the cache info bubble. the beta map tries to scroll down, but the grey banner is in the way and I cannot see anything above the terrain and difficulty without further scrolling. *edited to make sense. -
The last update on the Facebook was more than an hour ago and suggests that everything was fixed and is dandy. Edited to clarify that it is not dandy at this time.

Geocaching.com site update May 4th 2011
Mr Kaswa replied to OpinioNate's topic in Geocaching HQ communications
Was there always an ad underneath the attributes? Also, if a cache description is short there is a large amount of white space to be scrolled through to get to the logs. I have to scroll my entire laptops screen to get from the end of the description to the logs. -
Geocaching.com site update May 4th 2011
Mr Kaswa replied to OpinioNate's topic in Geocaching HQ communications
The beta map is terrible slow, personalization or not. Hopefully it is just due to volume, but wasnt the switch to the beta map supposed to take care of the volume issues? Is there some way to distinguish the type of PMO cache without having to zoom in so far? -
Small preview of the new look site
Mr Kaswa replied to Mr Kaswa's topic in General geocaching topics
That's better, but still... the vast majority of my geocaching friends never visit the forums. They do check their email. I understand and agree whole heartedly. -

To be fair they did post a link to the video here in that announcement topic. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=273130
