  2. PDOP's

    PQ problems?

Diabolical hamsters Thanks for the update and the fix.
  3. Not sure if this is what northernpenguin is using but GPSVisualizer will do this. http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map_input?form=google
  4. I don't think the free version allows this. You can insert raster images but they have to be manually georeferenced. Some of the file types you mention are calibration/georeference data. .MAP works with OziExplorer, .JPR works with Fugawi (and MemoryMap)
  5. This is probably better asked in the GSAK forums (link) but there is info in the FAQ (link) 23. Archived caches are not being updated when I load GPX files. Why? This crux of the issue is that the Groundspeak Pocket Queries do not include archived caches (temporary disabled yes, archived no). For more information and a work around see this (link)
  6. It's not the most intuitive GUI but basically you mark a waypoint then edit the coordinates.
  7. There's some good information about the different formats at 'Different degree formats: Resolutions and conversions' (link)
  8. One quirk is that all uploads go through the SD card so you have to remove/reinstall the card each time.
  9. "How To Load Maps On My Garmin GPS Unit" tutorial at GPSFileDepot (link)
  10. IF $_FilterCount > 0 from http://gsak.net/help/hs21050.htm
  11. Costco has the Oregon200 with TopoCanada for $299.99 Shipping & Handling included (link)
  12. Menu => Menu => Setup => Units => Map Datum then select the datum you want from the drop down list.
  13. Planning software of this type lets you see the satellite geometry at specified locations, dates and times. Specifically it would give you the PDOP values so you could plan for job when the geometry is the best ( and PDOP is lowest). The Trimble program also allows you to input terrain masking data to aid in the computations. So if you were workng beside a big mountain it would take into account that some satellites would be behind the mountain.
  14. Leica-geosystems.com ( another survey quality GPS manufacturer ) has a similar program (link) but AFAIK again not for mobile platforms.
  15. A couple of things may be happening. You may not be seeing the geocaches in your Oregon if they are remote form your present location. There should be an option to list the waypoints by 'Name' rather than 'Nearest' As to why GSAK opens - if you have the file association for GPX files set so that GSAK opens them and your Oregon is connected in 'Mass Sorage Mode' then your computer sees the Oregon as a remote drive and uses GSAK to open the file.
  16. The RS232 to USB cable should have come with (a disk of) software drivers. Have you installed those?
  17. The Source has the Garmin Dakota 20 for $249.99 (link)
  18. The Source has the original blue eTrex Legend on for $59.99 (link)
  19. I thought they were lame too - as always it's buyer beware Something like the $200 Oregon 200 advertised from one dealer in the US would have been great.
  20. GPSCity 'Black Friday' sale (link)
  21. See this recent discussion (link).
