Dear Friends, Geocaching is celebrated in song up here in Michigan. “Got Live at Winter Social 2006" features all the geocaching songs performed by the MiGO-MiGO Geo Trio at the MiGO Winter Social on February 25, 2006 in Alma. It includes bonus tracks and coordinates to the MiGO-MiGO Geo Trio Bonus Cache, available only to purchasers. The price including shipping and handling is only $12 and all profits go to the Michigan Geocaching Organization. The geocaching songs are "Not the Kind to Cache", "The Bug Came Back", "Don't Tell My Wife I'm Out Geocaching; She Thinks I'm Getting Drunk at the Bar" and "Cache on the Bayou". Musical styles range from country to folk to rock to bluegrass to old time. You can buy it on line through PayPal at http://www.geocities.com/todd_hower/banjo/cd.html or by emailing Banjo-Jim@bluewaterramblers.com. PayPal accepts credit cards, too. Or mail a check for $12 to Banjo-Jim, 3010 Bewell Ave., Lowell, MI 49331. 2. An upcoming Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite launch carries a special tribute to a visionary that made the idea of space navigation positioning a reality. Onboard the GPS spacecraft (GPS 2R-11), now scheduled for a March 20 liftoff from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, is a special plaque carrying the words of the late space pioneer, Ivan Getting: "Lighthouses in the sky serving all mankind." Getting envisioned a system that would use satellite transmitters to pinpoint with extreme accuracy locations anywhere on Earth. He then became a vigorous advocate for making sure the complex system was built after it was shown it would work. Click to Enlarge Getting, who served as president of The Aerospace Corporation when it was established in 1960 until 1977, died in October 2003. Earlier that year he was recognized by the National Academy of Engineering -- along with Bradford Parkinson of Stanford University -- for inventing the GPS. 3. Dear Friends, Would it be a misuse of geocaching.com to place a private, family cache for the entertainment of my blood kin on blessed Thanksgiving? The cache would be on private, family land and would not be available for anyone but my blood kin. In addition to entertaining and intriguing my blood kin, I hope to interest them in geocaching. Please share your considered opinions with the forum and with me, Banjo-Jim@beats-settin-home.com. Thank you all very much. Banjo-Jim Banjo-Jim
