  1. I just picked up a really nice coin from a geocache. This one reads "Alabama Geocachers Association 2004". It has a tracking number and instructions to log it at http://www.travelertags.com This is the first time I've heard of this website for trackables?!? Very little info on the web for them. Unfortunately, it appears the company has gone under. Oh well. Cool coin though. It's got the Geocaching logo on it. Yeah, I'll probably drop it off into another geocache.
  2. While using Microsoft XP with Internet Explorer 8, I was able to login to geocaching.com and Wherigo.com just fine but for the past several months, there's been a banner at the top of the geocaching.com webpage informing me Groundspeak is phasing out support for older web browsers. Ok, I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 11. Although I can still login successfully to geocaching.com, I can no longer login to Wherigo.com. Same issue as initially reported in this forum. So, c'mon Groundspeak...if you're not going to support the older web browsers and make me upgrade...then you should at least support the current web browsers!! I should not have to juggle multiple web browsers on my PC just so I can login to Wherigo. This is unacceptable. Thanks to this user forum, I successfully added Wherigo to "Compatibility View Settings" located in the Tool drop down as suggested. I can now login but really, we should not have to search through forums for a login solution! Maybe you should consider adding a banner to all Wherigo.com pages letting us know you do not support current browsers.
  3. After work, I got a chance to test out a "work around" which a Support Rep had recommended. Ah ha!!! I can officially announce the rebirth of my Geocache Navigator by Trimble. Now, I can continue to torment other cachers and COs with that infamous and shameful plug by Trimble!!
  4. Thanks for the feedback. In the unlikely event that I am moved over to an iPhone, I will keep that in mind. Until then, I'm hoping to find a few other geocachers who still use Geocache Navigator?
  5. For our past 4-5 years of geocaching, I've mainly used Geocache Navigator made by Trimble Outdoors on my BlackBerry(s). It was a great app up until Nov 2012 when Groundspeak switched their web connectivity over to a new API. Ever since then, it seems Trimble Outdoors hasn't been responsive with keeping up with changes. They've slowly addressed fixes to keep it mostly functional but recently, they've developed (and acknowledged) yet another new bug which now essentially renders the app useless for finding caches. Email exchanges with Trimble Outdoors support confirms they no longer have dedicated resources to maintain and/or improve the product. I'm sure you've noticed the countless advertisements on geocaching.com for Geocache Navigator have ceased. They're no longer accepting new subscribers and they've pointed their website (http://www.geocachenavigator.com) to a new Trimble Outdoors Navigator which doesn't even list geocaching as a feature. Yeah, I've tried CacheSense (formerly CacheBerry) but their UI wasn't as clean and simple. I suppose can always steal the esposita's eTrex but that Geocache Navigator app was just so convenient. Nope, I have no plans to get an iPhone (or any other new cell phone) any time soon but I do anticipate I'll probably continue to struggle along until a new cell phone comes my way. Just wondering if anyone else in the geocaching community is still using/tolerating Geocache Navigator?? It would be nice to compare what features work or not with someone else and/or what work-arounds are out there.

    Souvenirs

Ahhh, thanks for posting. We were wondering why we did not receive souvenirs for several countries where we recently found caches in the Caribbean.
  7. MANY thanks to TheCELTs for pointing out the Field Notes feature is working again!! Today, I confirmed it is working on my BlackBerry device as well. So, we now have a faint glimmer of hope that Geocache Navigator might actually get fixed. FYI-I was using the free 30-day trial of CacheSense but it expired. I did notice that I can still use the expired CacheSense app to list and filter out caches which I have already marked as found and then I can switch over to Geocache Navigator to make the actual find. Otherwise, I have to hope I have recently downloaded the cache to my Garmin eTrex device.
  8. Hello. Geocache Navigator has been broken for over two months now. Is there any place I can check a status of these reported issues? Is there a master ticket number I can follow?? If I call Trimble Outdoors, the best status I can get is that they acknowledge the issue and "the engineers are working with Groundspeak directly to fix this issue". I'd like to know if these issues are ever going to be resolved or if I should switch to another application such as CacheSense. An ETA would sure be nice and/or a weekly status update. Greatly Appreciated!!
  9. Wow, so it's not just me?!? I've been experiencing all five of those problems since Nov 29th. I reported the issue to Tribleoutdoors several times and they confirmed a server had gone down. They fixed several other issues but these five problems continue to persist. It's as if the phone is NOT linked to geocaching.com. Even if I re-link my phone and get a successful message, it isn't actually linked. This has been painfully slow to get resolved. If they're not going to fix these issues then I do wish they would say so such that I can find another geocaching application. Did you also notice that Trimble Outdoors also removed their website/forums where you could report problems, submit feature requests and discuss other technical details??
  10. Not sure if it's the latest release but I found a website to download OpenWIG from, http://code.google.com/p/openwig/downloads/list I downloaded the openwig-0.4.1-experimental.zip and then transfered it from my PC to Blackberry via data cable. It seemed to install successfully and it executes without critical errors. This is much further progress than I've had in the past. And now, I downloaded and installed my first cartridge (I chose Pocket PC Device) which also seems to have installed successfully. Now I just need some good weather to give it a shot... Hopefully that info helps out another Blackberry user.
  11. I was hoping to install the latest OpenWIG app on my Blackberry Bold 9700. Can anyone provide the OTA for this? Greatly Appreciated!!
  12. Thanks for all the info. I successfully took on my first puzzle cache tonight. I cannot wait to tackle some more once I return home!!
  13. Hello Geocaching Community!! I see a lot of puzzle caches all over the place but when I take a look at the details, I just don't know where to begin?!? I'd really like to solve these puzzles such that I can go after these caches. Is there a beginner's guide for tips/tricks to solving common geocache puzzles?? Greatly Appreciated!! -Mike "JPWAVE"
  14. Would have been nice but would also have left you not knowing what the benefits of premium membership are. Huh? I think he meant would have been nice to have the discount (not would have been nice to answer his question directly). Chrysalides, you are correct. Thank you for clarifying for me. Yes, it would be a nice incentive to become a paid member if paid members received a discount on items sold via Groundspeak.com, that's all. Thanks again.
  15. Ok, that's a big N-O (would have been nice). Thanks!
  16. I'm not a paid member here. I was wondering if there are any $$$ perks after becoming a Premium Member such as a discount at Groundspeak.com?? Thank you in advance.
  17. Ah ha!! So it appears that your Fpo Avatar will never actually smile on its own. For example, after actively logging geocaches or reaching a milestone. Today, after being out of town for a while and not logging into my account, I just discovered that my Fpo Avatar now matches what I had uploaded via the weblink which savant9 refered to. So, although your Fpo Avatar will not change on its own, you can manually change your Fpo Avatar but it requires a logout/login as others had suggested. Thank you everyone! (I would have like to see it smile on its own...oh well) Now, to enter some logs... =)
  18. Many thanks to all your fun-filled comments!! We're still doing the happy dance here and look forward to our next milestone. In celebration, we hope to launch our very first hide this week. Woo-hooo!! =)
  19. Thanks savant9 but unfortunately, the link you provided only changes the avatar for this Groundspeak forum. Hmmm, BTW - I noticed that when I hover my mouse over the avatar, it displays "Fpo Avatar". No idea what that means?!?
  20. Wow, thanks for the responses!! I do appreciate the history and now I have a much better understanding. Personally, I've never cared for the Harry Potter movies, books... So, this term is new to me. In summary, it sounds like I should report that there were either "no muggles" (someone who is within the area but has no idea what I'm doing) or perhaps "no potential mugglers" (someone who sees what I'm doing and then might try to steal the cache) in sight. Hmmm, I guess either spelling can work then, huh? Is one spelling more correct than the other?? Thanks again for the replies.
  21. When I first log into http://www.geocaching.com/ there is an avatar in the upper right corner of the screen. No, I am not talking about the avatar for this Groundspeak forum. I'm talking about the avatar underneath where is says "Hello JPWAVE!". I believe it was once a grayscale Signal the frog avatar when I first joined geocaching.com. At some point, I remember it being a grayscale smiley face but for the past several months it's just been a boring :| symbol... just two eyes and a flat-line mouth, no smile. Yes, I am still a Basic Member. My question is what makes this avatar change, smile... ? I changed my avatar here in the Groundspeak forum but it did not affect the avatar in the geocaching.com webpage. I just reached 100 geocaches...I thought for sure this avatar would crack a smile...nope, nuthin. Anyone have an idea?? Thanks in advance!!
  22. Hmmmm, I need some clarification. I've seen it spelled both ways in the logs. Are we watching out for "muggles" or are we watching out for "mugglers". Of course I know who they are...I just want to know the proper spelling. Thank you in advance!!
  23. Finally, we reached 100 caches!! Woo-hoo!! I know, I know...most of you experienced geocachers are saying "Big deal, I got thousands" but for us, tonight is a night to celebrate!! As soon as our little baby girl falls asleep, we're breaking out the booze and celebrating!! Today, we earned our 100th geocache by attempting our first multi-cache which turned out to be a lot of fun. Well, we just had to send this shout out to the geocaching community and we look forward to discovering MANY more of your hidden caches!! Thank you to everyone out there!! Woo-hooooo!!! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...57-18bcd6aa600d
  24. You lay in bed wide awake the entire night wondering where the blank that bleeping cache is!!
