  1. Cool pictures! But what model are those? they are not same as mine right? Those who purchase a RAM Mount, it would be wonderful if you put the model name or link it to the page so we can get details of it for comparsion and info. I ordered mine for $52 ~ CAD currency. I am not sure how it works, do we suppose to put it on the windshield? is that the only option? or can we put on the dashboard? not sure how I should put my RAM in the car, until I get it, I will know. If anyone can take a shot of the RAM while inside the car for me to see, that would be great! As I am a very visual person, I can't understand much from text, and reading and instruction....better to see it with my own eyes
  2. Thanks everyone for your help! This is what I got from the staff at GPSCITY: Thank you for your email. Unfortunately no, the case will not be able to fit in with the cradle of the unit. The RAM-B-148-GA12U is not the same as RAM-B-166-GA12U. They both have a suction cup, but the suction cup in the RAM-B-166-GA12U combination is very very strong and the RAM-B-148-GA12U suction cup is not very strong at all. I would recommend the 166-GA12U over the 148-GA12U anyday. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask! Thank you. Best Regards, Guess I will go with the RAM Mount Aluminum GPSMAP 60C Series 3.25'' Locking Suction Cup
  3. I've also been looking at these. It appears that both models have a 3" long arm, but one has a 3.25" suction cup base while the other has a 4" suction cup base. I would guess that the larger diameter base gives a stronger hold. I'm also considering this model, which has a slightly longer flexible arm. Does either one fit when we have our cover case on it? or do we have to remove it?

But don't leave it attached too long in the heat...the suction cup gets kinda soft....I'm afraid it'll stretch if that happens too often. And which model would that be?
  5. Sometimes I have a break, I would switch between those car/motorcycle, truck, bus, emergency, taxi, delivery, pedestrian, bicycle. I'd mostly play around with the pedestrian, bicycle and car/motorcycle only. The things I discovered is that for the pedestrian, they would allow you to go one way street. Sometimes I would ask the GPS to auto route for me to a destination using the pedestrian mode, they would even tell me to get onto highway!!! so I am not sure why they do that. ETA for each of them are different. For 1km, pedestrian takes 20 minutes to complete. Car takes about 3 mintues I think. As for bicycle, I think it is like 10 minutes...not sure...but you can play around with it while indoor to see the results for yourself.
  6. so is that mean the locking one is more secure than the other one? one other question, will the cover case fit inside the RAM mount? or I have to remove it if I want to put my GPS in the RAM mount?
  7. Download the program, but how does it works? Don't know how to use it. Do I need my GPSr on and plug in?
  8. I have my 60CSX GPSr unit and I want to get it for my car. I want one that is able to carry from one car to another without buy extra base or anything like that. Just one that brings from one car to another. Another question. Which RAM mount do you recommend for my 60CSX unit? There are two options I think suites me.... RAM Mount Aluminum GPSMAP 60C Series 3.25'' Locking Suction Cup RAM Mount Aluminum GPSMAP 60C Series 4'' Suction Cup Mount Anyone knows the difference between those two? I am not sure what difference are there...same price though. I have a Neoprene Protective Carrying Case for Garmin. Neoprene Protective Carrying Case for Garmin GPSMap 60 Will the case fit into the RAM? or I have to remove it everytime I am in the car? Please let me know...I want to buy it, but I don't know which one is good for me. Thanks advance for all the help!!!

  11. hey I was wondering when you use your GPSr during the flight....how does it show on the screen? I mean, on the road, you get to see the road details and street....but on the air, how does it show up? just a straight line or something? anyone got a track picture of their flight? can someone show us a screen of what its like?
  12. BIG, When you select the point, move the cursor just a tiny bit and click again. Then right-click and select "End". You'll now have a tiny line. But be careful! Make sure you draw this tiny line in the area where your contours are going to be. If you draw it outside this area by mistake (like I did on a couple of maps) it'll be deleted when you get to the "Trim" part after you dump in your hydrography. You follow? i didnt know you suppose to leave a tiny point....i made a BIG SQUARE lol, i am not sure if this affect the map later in IMG
  13. hey i was wondering for all your picture on your website...how did you take them? did you take a digital camera and take the shot and crop it out using photoshop program? or is there another way to do it? here is what i am talking about
  14. thank you, i hope i can understand it...i am lost for the GSAK part
  15. since i am in canada, i was wondering is there any place i can go to add the waterway like you guys in the USA? i want to do it now so later i may regret not having it...i dont want to wait later and people will say "where is the waterway" then i will have to do all over again
  16. what is the purpose of that step # 9 for? i am just curious, as i do not know why we do the things we do lol
  17. Yes you can turn it off easily. I also find the compass of very little use. Press and hold down the the "PAGE" button about 2 seconds while in the compass or map screens to turn the compass on and off at will. I have the compass off until I'm within 100 feet or so of the cache. The electronic compass eats up a lot of battery life and this practice significanly improves longevity. I still prefer having it than not. i was wondering how much battery life does it eat up if we use leave our compass on? do they mention that in the manual or something? what about WAAS? does it eat even more than the compass? i really like to know this question, so i could make a decision to turn both off if necessarly
  18. now i have another problem: 9. Click on the wand tab(create object) and select point, Click on your map and create a settlement(less 100) and click ok i dont see (less 100) its just not there...whats wrong with me? problems after problems lol
  19. Bus! for the "Bits" section...how do i select them? do i select big # on top (level 0) and small number at bottom (level 5)??? actually i have discover my own error...its this: i forgot to change the "bits" level...i didnt touch that at all...i left it default and never thought i should change it...in the instuction...you should make it CLEAR for others that they must change "LEVEL", "BITS" and "ZOOM", so we need to change 3 things, what i did was only change TWO things, the "LEVEL" and "ZOON", i didnt pick up the "BITS"...so better to put that in the instruction for others, who would like to make TOPO map...just a thought only...i struggled this part... thank you BUS! p.s. am i suppose to make one map and create one IMG file for now? what if i decides i want the whole ONTARIO? i have to do those steps individually for those DEM files right? kinna confused on this...i think i have more questions...about nameing map ID...the integer value...can i just put anything i want? like 12345678?? and the MAP NAME? just leave it or give it a name? later on...the registry part..will be kinna confused
