  1. Thanks for posting this - I had the same problem and the patch took care of it.
  2. I’ve noticed this for a while now, saw the problem was acknowledged but still waiting for a fix. Using chrome on Catalina. Please fix! It was a very convenient way to add events to Google calendar!
  3. The Geocaching Merit Badge was discussed on the "Geocaching Podcast" this past week. http://geocachingpodcast.com/episode-255-boy-scouts-geocaching-merit-badge/ Pretty good discussion there. An interesting thing was said about the UTM coordinate requirements - All GPS units and satellites use the UTM system for their computations and then convert the info for Lat/Lon use. Maybe that's why its important to teach, if it's the basis for the system.
  4. It's up to the scout to put on the Geohunt. I had one take his patrol on a geohunt while at summer camp. Another led a cub scout den on a geohunt at a local park. Or perhaps the scout could help out at an organized geocaching activity, like a camporee.
  5. Have you tried contacting GONIL? http://www.gonil.org/ Geocachers Of Northeastern Illinois It's come up in their forum & they probably can help.
  6. Our Scout shop has the pamphlet & badges in. Theodore Roosevelt Council - Long Island, NY. Two of the employees there are geocachers, so they ordered it as soon as it was available. I picked up 2 copies - one for me & one for my troop. Well done.
  7. Still not working 8:20am Eastern Time. Bummer - I'm on a trip & planned to just download a few select caches. Waiting........
  8. I also have this problem. Garmin site reports latest software is in place & GPS is functioning properly. But I also get the "Can't get it to run? Try installing the latest plugin here." message in the Garmin Send to GPS window. That stinks!
  9. What would be the requirements? Would you need to be able to approve or limit the people that could look for your caches on Scout property? Or would all people approved to look at Scouting caches be able to search your listings? I believe there is a need for an application like this and would like to explore this further. Hmm... I don't think I'd need to approve or limit the people logging finds. If the cache contained the password, then only those on the property could access the cache page. Not sure if I would limit the viewing of the cache pages, but maybe that's necessary. Currently our Cub Scout camp has 15 caches listed on a webpage that anyone can view, but there's no logging of finds except in the logbook in the cache. It would be nice to post your story & pictures similar to Groundspeak's model. I'm also thinking about a patch or something to reward those who find them all.
  10. I just came back from a week at Boy Scout camp with my son. Our troop goes for 2 weeks, and with the permission of our council, I hid 5 caches for the Scouts & Leaders of the second week to find - 4 conventional caches, each with a clue to find the fifth. They had a great time with it! The only hitch was the caches had to be picked up as I didn't get permission to make them permanent. I'd like to propose more permanent caches to the council & wonder if anyone has come up with a scheme for logging finds on a website protected with a password, so it's only available to scouts, since this all involves private land? Thanks.
