  1. well if you find any other fantastic deals, email me at cachenut06@gmail.com or post them here
  2. I am a stage 2, slowly progresssing into a stage 3, im not that bad yet, i still have some hope lol
  3. Yeah it happens, i have a step by step procedure somewhere in my posts, as i had the same exact problem.
  4. One other thing i dont know if i really like about the color, is screen size. It looks awful small on their site, and doesnt look like its going to be too functional if i did put mapping software on it.
  5. The Venture doesn't have mapping so the zoom feature really isn't very useful. If you're considering a Legend you might want to also consider the Venture CX. For an extra $50 you get double the battery life, color screen, expandible map memory, much better reception, autorouting and a USB connection. Im not at all interested in the venture, i was looking at it in the beginning, but i want one with at least a basemap. That narrows it down to the Legend and the color line. I dont plan on putting maps on it, but the usb connection may come in handy. Does garmin have a geocaching manger like magellan, or dont they have such a thing? How much better is the reception on the color then the black and white models?
  6. I can't answer for the Venture, but the Legend and Vista will zoom to 20 feet. Depending on the resolution of the Venture, it will be either 20 or 200 feet. Rich How do they work in cold weather? Like in 0-30 degrees, as my magellan freaks out below 40. Also hows the accuracy? What are they like in tree cover? Im really interested in the Legend, or may go for a 60csx, i just want something that works in the cold and is reliable. I only tested the etrex yellow in a open soccerfield and it showed the cache to be 30 feet up from where the cache was, and my magellan showed the cache was where it was. Thanks, Jeff
  7. I was thinking of buying a Legend or a Venture but i have one question. On the map screen, how detailed does it zoom? 200 or 100 feet? I had a eTrex yellow, that zoomed to 200 feet, and my Magellan would be right on for the caches, and it would show that the caches are further up, or further away. Are the higher level ones better at zooming in?
  8. Tell me about it. The "entitlement generation" has discovered Geocaching. That is why we have threads like, "it's not fair, premium members get the FTFs, boo hoo," and, "PMOC are elitist, this is a free game, I don't care who pays for the site upkeep, I should be able to find all caches." I remember how hard it was to find new caches (for FTF chances) before instant notification. Dont forget people all the 5 star terrain caches, and 5 star puzzle caches, exclude more people than PMOCs do. Yep, i hate seeing all the whining over the moochers. I think Jeremy and the rest of Groundspeak should strongly consider dues. geocaching.com costs lots of money im sure to run, and if the people who are just taking up bandwith would be eliminated, the site would run better etc. Also if dues were collected, Groundspeak would have better site speed, and they would have more money for other great perks. I personally think dues are a must, but thats just me, and everyone should then have the same perks if dues were colelcted.
  9. I know im going to be shot up like a buck on opening day deer season, but i think that dues should be paid for this game. Just like soccer football, etc, all sports have a yearly/seasonal fee. I think everyone should have to pay, and everyone be equal. This would help Groundspeak out, and probably keep away all the people that do this just for the desctruction/theft of caches, coins, tbs, etc.
  10. Thats one way to come up with 3 bucks a month. Its not a huge monthly payment, and its not required. If you cant afford it, then theres no need to be complaining about PM benefits. I pay because of Pocket Queries, and i could care less about being a FTF. As long as i find the cache sometime, i am happy. Im not in it for numbers or for FTF, im in it for the experience and the fun. I know if you CITOed anywhere around me, for aluminum cans, and took them to a recycling center/scrap yard for the 50 cents a pound rate right now, it wouldnt take long to come up with the monthly 3 bucks if you wanted to go premium and couldnt afford it.
  11. I bought a Otterbox 3000 to carry my gps when camping incase the unthinkable happens, and it would be a decent cache size container, and it keeps all kinds of stuff out, ive put the container through the ropes, and it still never took in any water, dirt, etc. There is another 3000 series container that Otterbox makes, that is a little taller, both the 3000 and the other one would be great for underwater caches, and have a place to attach a chain/rope etc to secure the cache.
  12. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...f1-f930e4d0d948 That cache has a lock involved...
  13. I was the finder on the second last log, and the fact that the police have it doesnt surprise me. The cache was so obvious and near walking paths, im almost positive a muggle took it as a suspicious object and reported it. Cache wasnt that great, but hopefully it gets replaced.
  14. Mail in rebate product, id just buy the 15 dollar ones to save the hassle, but it is a great deal if you send in the rebate
  15. Is it the LE or the North America one, and is there any chance you would sell it outright?
  16. Ok, im sure all you magellan users have seen my previous fix to my GPS problem, with the NAND loop. Now i am really puzzled. I had in my pocket last week and it got real cold, and the NAND came up. Now, i left it sit on my desk for a week now, because i had intentions on sending it back to magellan since the first time it happened, and i powered it up 5 minutes ago, and the NAND came up, but this time, i hit the center button, and it didnt shut off right away, it configured the unit it said and shut off, i then repowered it, and it works! This unit is a bundle of joy, the day i understand its stubborn behavior is the day i die. This unit is definately crazy! But no need for me to erase the memory this time, no need for the firmware upload, and map upload/basemap.
  17. Well i havent documented the times this occurs for me, but it happens a lot longer for me then 5 minutes, and it doesnt always occur at the wee hours of night. Ive had it happen during the day mostly on weekends. Most of my problems with Server too busy happen anytime between 11-5 or 6 night to morning eastern time
  18. What kind of R/C stuff do you have? I have a traxxas revo, and a savage, so if anything works with what i have, id be interested in purchasing/trading.
  19. Should I delight in the fact that I got almost all of them? - going back for the last one today. Some of the caches had some really nice stuff and I was tempted but didn't take anything since I had nothing to leave in return. Appropriate, or did I miss out on FTF "rights"? Those 2 are appropriate answers. You were the FTF. Celebrate about 11 in a row, thats a pretty good feat! Some people leave FTF prizes, and they are only appropriate for the FTF. I would have taken maybe the FTF prize, being the FTF, and revisit it later to put something of equal value back in.

  21. I see yours, doesnt work for me......
  22. I dont have any experience with pda gpsr caching, but ive heard it isnt near as accurate as the handheld gps's. And for the price difference, the way to go is 2 devices, one handheld, and a palm.
  23. Im contemplating buying one of them, i just am not sure about magellan anymore lol,, with my 500 with cold weather problems...
