  1. I do not believe it is possible in GSAK but you can sort buy distance and it will give you a good idea. You can also take it out to Google earth or some of the map programs. The GSAK forums are a very good place to start and get info!
  2. Switched from a Gold to PN-20. Liked the gold but wanted something new. I bought 2 of them and so far they are great. Screen could be bigger and it could be a little faster on the re draw but still really like them. I also like Dr. Pepper
  3. I have 2 PN-20's. Ebay refurbs. Just like new with all paper work and warranty. JM2cents
  4. We had an event. 90+ temps put out. I drove up to the tree and took my readings and placed the cache with out leaving the car. When I went to pull it after the event I drove by and grabbed it with out coming to a complete stop.
  5. From the Oelwein Iowa Daily Register Couple finds key to free Cooper Rick and Karla Thompson (left) of Independence pore over a brochure to select options for the new Mini Cooper they won in Our Iowa’s “Iowa Treasure Huntâ€. Published: Friday, October 3, 2008 2:00 PM CDT INDEPENDENCE - The first-ever “Iowa Treasure Hunt” drew to a close when Rick and Karla Thompson discovered a packet attached to the bottom of a picnic table in a public park in Independence. Inside was a key and a note, stating: “You Found It! You’ve just won a free Mini Cooper car in Our Iowa magazine’s statewide Treasure Hunt!” Ironically, the Thompsons weren’t searching for the key at the time. It was a Sunday afternoon, and they were involved in the increasingly popular geo-caching . The game involves following given coordinates to different locations, then finding new coordinates and moving on. “We were just searching under the picnic table for our next set of coordinates when we found the plastic packet held down by thumb tacks,” says Rick. “When we found the key and learned we’d won a new car, we stopped looking for the geo-cache in that park right then!” The search for the key had gone on for more than a year, and excitement grew as the search area got smaller and smaller. The Our Iowa staff announced the contest in its Premiere Issue in September, 2007. Then, they gradually squeezed down the search area by eliminating 10 counties each issue where the key wasn’t hidden. Half of Counties Remained A map of Iowa was printed in each bi-monthly issue, each time blanking out 10 additional “it’s-not-hidden-there” counties. By the current issue, only 49 of Iowa’s 99 counties were still in the running. Editors gave several reasons for the contest. “We wanted to draw attention and traffic to Iowa’s public park system, and we urged folks to take along a garbage bag and pick up litter while searching,” says Editor Jerry Wiebel. “And, okay, we’ll admit it. When launching a new magazine, getting folks to talk about it is, well, ‘golden’. And this contest quickly became the talk in coffee shops all across the state.” For the Thompsons, the finding and the timing couldn’t have been better. Rick drives 60 miles from Independence to Dubuque to work at a computer software company--in a 1999 Lumina with 305,000 miles on it. “So we were more than ready for a new car,” says Rick, “and driving this cute little Cooper should be fun. We still can’t believe how all this happened and how lucky we are. Sometimes good things just happen.” The Thompsons are now picking out the color and features of the car, and expect delivery of their free Mini Cooper as soon as the dealer can get that model on hand. We just completed our SE Iowa event and I though I would start looking for this. Late as usual
  6. I went back to the parking lot to see if he was on the hunt. I had to wait for this person to get geared up to go find this. I would have had the FTF by myself but with him pulling in I felt I should wait. See the logs below. April 3 by The finch farmers (155 found) Had a very nice talk with a new caching friend. Thanks for the Co-FTF! TFTC SL Yes I am height challenged! [view/edit logs/images on a separate page] April 3 by luvlandnav (89 found) Ran into TFF on this one and shared a FTF. Was the 3rd of six for me today. SL TFTC! [view this log on a separate page] Play as you will but in my mind of the 4 caches at that location which I had 3 FTF's the Co-FTF was the best! Dont worry be happy
  7. This is a note I just put on my cache page. No dumping please has been recovered. It is a Lock and Lock container. It has been under about 8 foot of moving floodwater since June 11th, 2008 until today’s date of July 14, 2008. All contents inside were completely dry with absolutely no moisture inside of it. It had a business card lying in the bottom of the container. No water spots or stains found on the card. Ammo cans might be the best for long term but L n L containers do one heck of a job also! My 2 cents
  8. In GSAK use Filter - Found status - un check found
  9. Have had mine since 2003. No problems and still working just fine.
  10. Went on the hunt but could not get closer to GZ than 90 feet. I went home and came back the next day. Same problem. Then I decided to walk across the road and I found it. That's what I get for going after work. Should always try to go before.
  11. I think this may be the answer? When you are getting ready to take your wife in for a heart procedure. She says she is getting into the shower at the same time you realize a new cache has been placed across town. You tell her you are going to warm the car up and be right back. You go get the FTF and return home just in time to head to the medical center 1.5 hours away. By the way it was an LPC and the procedure went very good! Great day
  12. You know you're NOT addicted to geocaching when....... .....you have no clue what geocaching is. End of list. YEP! Well I don't look so bad now do I? One problem. I had 2 hours and I figured I should be able to get 8 done. Mine must have been closer.
  13. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, !!!!!!!!

  15. QUOTE(ilpellys @ Apr 7 2008, 06:39 PM) Oooooo...sounds like Mr. Finch Farmer may have won at this point...as long as his wife doesn't find out (ouch!). She knows. But all is well I think? I asked today if she felt good enough to go for lunch. She wants to know if a new cache is at the lunch location. Well of course!

  17. Super glue the ring on 1 side. When it needs replaced pick a ring up at the auto parts store.
  18. 2002 0 2003 1 2004 0 2005 0 2006 0 2007 65 2008 18 I need to do more!
  19. What he said! PQ's are a plus also.
  20. If you are STF to find or later should you wait to log on the page until FTF logs? I don’t see that it would make much difference but I do not want to assume!
  21. That's what I'm still using. I've learned to let others be the guinea pigs... I think I saw a similar thread a few weeks ago after I went through this struggle, and now simple copy the cachemate file to my SD card on and insert it into the palm. Using this methodology, you do not have do worry about syncing up your palm. Works Great. Copy to SD with no prolems!
  22. I ordered 5 of the top pic. Very light gauge sheet metal - lid falls off - I do not think I will be using them for caches as I had planned. They are cute but IMHO not the way to go.
