I upgraded over the summer from a Vista to a 60csx and have been generally delighted with the unit.
The one thing that has bothered me though is that the vista only needed three satellites to get a lock, and would tell me where I was straight away when it found the third. The CSX is different and needs four satellites for a minute or so before it will tell me where it is, and sometimes I can have five satellites and it still not tell me where I am.
Is this the same for everyone with a csx, or is mine just up the swannie?
Thanks.

To clarify this a little further - the meeting beforehand is for those that are helping to organise the event to ensure that everything is sorted.
The meeting afterwards is in case people wish to continue conversations not finished at the flashmob event. This effectively ensures that the flashmob event stays as close to the principles of flashmob as possible, whilst having a preagreed place to socialise seperately afterwards if you wish.
It's a fairly simple choice too - if you don't like the principle, then don't come - but don't criticise others for wanting to take part.
People have often been criticised for setting drive by caches, 35mm micros, earthcaches, virtuals and, frankly, not everyone is going to like every cache. The answer is simple - stop trying to sabotage it for everyone who plays the game in a slightly different way to you, and only do the things you are interested in. That way, you don't have to worry about the poor deluded people who want a flashmob event, and we don't have to feel negatively towards pompous spoilsports.
I think that people are perhaps losing sight of the fact that geocaching should be FUN!

I think a proper dessert roulade is flourless and butterless. It can also be savoury. In music it's a run of notes sung on one syllable.
Sorry Lorna, isn't that a melisma?

Swiss?
DING DING DING DING!
James Bond's parents are Andrew Bond, a Scotsman, and Monique Delacroix, from Canton de Vaud, Switzerland. Their nationalities were established in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Fleming emphasized Bond's Scottish heritage in admiration of Sean Connery's cinematic portrayal, whereas Bond's mother is named after a Swiss fiancée of Fleming's.
Well done Lorna!
I'm surprised it took that long.
Over to you.

Italian?
Still no...

French Canadian
Nope
Born in Hong Kong and had a limp?
Not quite sure what you mean by that - keep trying

French Canadian
Nope

James Bond is half Scottish. What nationality is the other half?
I'll guess at Indian. His father was probably something to do with the Raj.
In the words of the great Roy Walker, "It's good, but it's not right"
-
Ok then. Still on a Bond theme:
James Bond is half Scottish. What nationality is the other half?
Sorry about the phrasing - for clarity, I'm not looking for the nationality of the woman he married!!

G&T....wild guess
Good wild guess but nope.
Don't forget my Whiskey suggestion!

Better go with champagne......

Hi All,
Due to the fact that we no longer have (and haven't had for some time) someone else's car to go getting filthy caching, and a distinct lack of time to maintain them, I'm looking for adopters for the following caches:
GCGQCK
GCJP2B
GCH7TX
GCGJKY
Some need maintenance. I'm hanging on to some that are nearer, virtual, or just easier to maintain without going by car.
Any takers please contact me via GC.com.
Chris
I'll happily take on Merrions Wood - Email sent.

Was it The Tirpitz? I vaguely recall (from reading the book years ago) they went at it with mini-subs to place explosives on the hull when it was in Trondheim Fjord.
dadgum - beaten to it again!!

Good morning (I am a bit behind you),
We all have read and seen movies of the battle to sink the Bismark, the German battleship. The Royal Navy also had to contend with her sister ship, and undertook near a dozen missions against this vessel, some with limited success that kept her from the fray. It was the Royal Air Force that got the job done in Nov. of 1944.
What was the name of the sister to the Bismark, and what was the method of the first attempt that resulted in the Victoria Cross for two?
Edit to add: ducking out for a bit, the purpose to remain gainfully employed. Estimate 12 hours to return.
I'm pretty sure she was the Tirpitz and didn't they attack her with mini submarines??

Sky Diving?
You wouldn't believe how close you are with that - I had to google it, but I'm glad I did. Those wierdos.

OK, an easy one............in which country was Champagne invented?
Wasn't it England? Most people think that it was Dom Perignon, but didn't some English guy invent it?

From the lack of movement and failure to find anything in the diary - do we assume that this is now not going ahead?

Third on the bottom is Hitchhiker I think.

I'm not sure many people in the UK know what Future Shop or Best Buy is - certainly not from experience.
There are certainly many online retailers that sell these, both in the UK and also Canada.

I have recently published one of these Picture Caches.
I too was concerned that finders would have to download some software to solve the puzzle. After a bit of thought I came up with a way doing it without the need to download any software. It has been found a number of times so I guess it works OK.
I like this one - didn't take me long though. It's going on the list to do whenever I make it out that way...
Thanks

what type of image are you trying to look at? If it's a jpeg, I don't know what would help, but if its a gif file then you could use www.gifworks.com

Custom Charges? The likelyhood of them being stopped is extremely slim, and the excise duty and vat chargeable on those things would be pence only!
You'll easily save that amount by getting them from the states.
I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Yay - I'd be up for that.

well I must say i'm interested... I might have to go and look for one...
anyone actually looked for one yet?
Garmin 60CSX How many Satellites?
in United Kingdom and Ireland
Posted
Well yes, but the main problem is that the vista would tell me where I was quickly with three satellites, whilst the 60csx refuses to do anything at all without 4....
what does anyone else's 60csx do?
