  1. I have the same issue of only seeing DR POI's at 100'. However I was going to look at DR and see what options there are in it. I seem to remember that with my Meridian Green I changed some MapSend options (listed on the Magellan Yahoo Board) to change when things were displayed on the GPS. These options were set in the PC and not in the GPS. Tim Cahoon Team Cahoon
  2. I have a 315 as well and have given it to my brother to use. There was a firmware upgrade at one time because it lost its fix if you were moving too slow, like when you are trying to narrow down the position of a cache. I used to have the problem of moving to a cache fairly quickly then slow down to get close. I'd all of a sudden find my GPS jump 30-60'. If you did the "honey bee" dance (waving your arms around like you where fighting off bees), it moved the GPS fast enough to retake a position where you are standing. The firmware update fixed that. I can't remember what the update was or version number, sorry. I now have a Meridian Green and really like it. I have MapSend Streets and it is great. I won't go back to the 315. Having the street info for the area where a cache is works really well. I've also used it on trips to find where I'm going (driving) as well as to help find my way back to the campground (driving) when its dark. It gets satellites much faster and works overall a lot better. I now want to get an Explorist 500 with a color screen.
  3. I wrote Magellan and asked some questions about the 500 and here is the reponses I got. (Did unit come with charger and what kind) * It comes with a charger for the LI batt that connects to the unit (In regards to a charger plug for the car) * In the future they will have one as for now we do not have one (Questions about the maps) * Map send direct is an upgrade to Map send streets, now you have turn by turn routing unlike before (Question of the SD card was proprietary like some/all Garmins use) * You can use any brand of sd card and a map region can not exceed 64mb They also sent a 17meg power point about the Explorist line which I am working to post on my website. 4. I am interested to know if Sun & Sand (GC67B9) is ok. It was on the NC outer banks and had 2 travel bugs. One of which is mine (Pirate Pete). I am assuming it is either washed out to see or covered in lots of sand. Olliver j. Team Cahoon - 12 hands high waiting patiently in Michigan
  5. I saw it as well. I thought the T-Shirt showed up well on the TV
  6. I didn't find that thread when I was looking late last night. It looks like 3.15 is pretty good and most people(with the exception of Gloom) had good luck with it. Thanks for pointing out the thread. Gotta go order that cable and get that software downloaded.
  7. I have a Magellan 315 and after researching forums (old & new) learned about the Auto-Averaging problem. (where if you move to slow it averages where you were, not where you are currently, and how to do the HULA DANCE to set it right). At www.magellangps.com they have a software upgrade V3.15 for the 315 & 320 where the following fix has been added: "The speed at which the unit starts position averaging has been reduced to 0.2 meters/second." Has anyone upgraded or have a unit with this version? Will it fix the problem? Comments, suggestions (other than buying another brand). Thanks Olliver J. Rookie GPS
