I had a Garmin gps 38 --old and I decided to go and buy a etrex legend, and love it. It has all the features I need esp for caching.. I belive it has a few more features then the Vista and not that much more in cost...go to garmin.com and compare them.. Found the cache but where is that damm GPS? See You In the Woods!!! I've used them to ..... snap my camera bag to my pack! To use as a hook to hang stuff! To go from strape to strap on my pack across my chest, to stop it from moving! I have my work badge on one! If you want to make the cache scary, really hard, underwater in pond on and island in a sunken boat go for it...Not every cacher will hunt it but some will... Found the cache but where is that damm GPS? See You In the Woods!!! Natureboy1376

Great choice, I'm thinking of doing the Trail also and have looked up a bit on it. I have a few tips for you. when in maine here is a great place to stay off the trail for a day before hitting the 100 mile forest.. www.geocities.com/pineellis/pineellis.html they cater to thru hikers and there site has links to trail info about Maine.. plus plus there is some good caching around them parts... Ok I have viewed the book for my new legend, but can't find info on something!!! Is my legend ready to go or do I need to do some kind of set up? Ok I just got my legend and I took the book out to read first, but I still have a question?? The first time turning my etrex on , is there any kind of set up I need to do? or IS it ready to go? I understand this was cache was in a Red tool box, right? Did the box have anything on it? Like the website address or something like, this is part of a game for more info visit www.geocaching.com!!! I thought this was a standard for caches, if not maybe if the box said that the police could have looked up the site before calling in the bomb squad!! I have a cache that is approx 100feet off, I have gone out 3 times and that is the closest I can get. I'm going to try with my new gps also , but I have posted on the cache page for finders to submit the cords they get for the time being. See you in the woods! Natureboy1376

used to download cache waypoint information from this site. but what do you do with it from that point ,, see the way i have been caching is basically walking untill i find the general area and looking around...Does d/l the waypoint do anything, as in draw a map and show your tracks and distance from the d/l'd waypoint or does the gps have an alarm for when you match up the d/l'd wp to your posistion??????
