  1. As mentioned, there are many threads here on the subject. I keep Garmin Communicator running as a personal challenge, but it's a chore (on a Windows PC). But if you keep your computer updated, Garmin Communicator will break. If you don't, many features will break. For a Garmin GPSr, click the "GPS File" button on a cache page (NOT the "Send to My GPS" button) and place the GPX file into the /Garmin/GPX folder. It's the same folder you place Pocket Queries. Thanks all, that link was useful sort of. So if I want to do that I need firefox otherwise just need to download it then transfer to my GPS.
  2. everything worked just find when I downloaded the caches to my gps directly but the next day I was forced to update my safari to version 10. I made sure that I have version 4.2 of the communicator installed as well. Now I can no longer download straight to my gps it says the communicator cannot be found. Which means I cannot even click the find devices button. I open communicator and it sees my gps. I've checked the security and these are allowed although there is a warning says it does not support the highest level of security for Safari plug-ins. From what I've read it should still work though. What can I do?
  3. Good idea. Yes see the problem is I don't fly into Montreal until the 21st of december. So that would be no good for me
  4. I'm 26....a cacher in Calgary...Female an do the sport on my own. It's great fun and exercise. I even managed to bring my sister with me to a few events and such. She enjoys it as well. So a guys' sport? Not quite. I was surprised at how few young cachers are around though

  6. Thanks. That's really useful. I'm hopeing to eventually create my own as well as solve this one, but being an art major cryptology is definetly not my forte and I had no idea what a good source might be
  7. Here we are again, someone deciding how the game should be played, and not even reading the Op's request. Yeah I didn't think asking for help on which books would be helpful to me was a crime. Sorry to create any drama.
  8. No, sorry, when you say "eaten at dinner"....... I think immediately of FOOD, glorious food! See, we all think differently! Good luck on the code! Codes are not usually too hard to crack, providing you THINK about them! I've been dwelling on it for a while and talked to a few other cachers in the area at a local event who had trouble with it as well. That's why i'm looking for extra resources now. I'd love to solve it, and figured some code book would help me solve it and maybe help me create puzzle caches of my own in the future
  9. GCWV2Y it's called Where's Smiley? Don't tell me the solution though. I was told there are some code books in general that will help with caching but I don't know what they are. That's what I would like help in. The "note" is from pioneers and the title doesn't help much either.
  10. I didn't ask for helping solving the cache, I want to know of code books to help me out in this and future caches. I don't know of any and was told to ask on the forums
  11. I've come across a cache that I don't understand how to crack the code. It uses a format of numbers and / that you need to transfer into letters from a note. I'm not sure if I will then have to convert it back into numbers again or what. But so far I do not understand it and wonder if there is a code book or something available so I can "cheat" Thanks
  12. That's up to the owner. You'll have to ask him. The owner republished and still claimed me as the PAT.
  13. Thanks thhat got me to where it shoulda been. Alas, no dice. It said I can't log on it
  14. The owner realized it was too close in proximity to another cache and informed the publisher who retracted it. There is a plan to reinstate it in another location...would I have to go to that location to count as the FTF again?
  15. I went on a big geocache hunt today. I walked about 7km roundtrip and when I got home the cache that I did was deleted because of proximity to another cache. It was my first FTF though and I'm really excited, so erm....how do I go about loggin that for my records even though it doesn't exist anymore but I signed the logbook and everything?
