  1. QUOTE quote:posted September 17, 2003 02:12 PM Hi zuuk. I haven't had a find in over four months because I've been out of the country working and I just returned on the 5th of September. You can even ask Mariner BC and Cacherunner, they knew of my absence. Hello geo-trekker, Was it they who supplied you with the GPS co-ordinates for the two false TEAM KFWB GPS(DOT) caches on vancouver island? Pay attention to me, boy! I'm not just talking to hear my head roar! - Foghorn Leghorn
  2. Was this geocache hidden in a sensitive area? Was it near a main trail? Was it hidden poorly or was it hidden too well causing stompage of the area? How did the Warden find it? Is this person truely a Warden or a BC Parks employee? Did the note explain why the geocache should be removed? Was the Warden speaking on behalf of the BC Government or hisself? Sincerely, Foghorn Leghorn quote:Originally posted by coast2coast2coast:Here is Fish's log for http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=38038 class="ip-ubbcode-quote">quote: July 5 by Fish (Fish) (161 found) A funny thing happened when we found this cache... As soon as we opened the cache we found a note written yesterday from the BC Provincial Parks Warden requesting that this cache be removed. We have taken it with us (so that it wont be destroyed) We are willing to plant it in the Victoria area and forward you the details. If you want you can temporarily disable this cache and we should have a new home for it within the next 2 weeks. Thanks for the hunt... It was a really good spot any one else seen this in BC yet?
  3. quote:Originally posted by canadazuuk:I came across an Activity Calorie Calculator tonight, which shows _Orienteering_ as being able to burn 529 calories in 1/2 hour for a 240 lb. male. That seems like a really good number. That's similar to snow shoeing, playing hockey and vigorous stationary rowing. I have read other threads here which mention _substantial weight loss_ as being a positive benefit of geocaching. Maybe there is some validity in this notion? Could geocaching save an obese generation? Goodafternoon, yes my wife and I began the geocaching in an effort to increase the level of outdoor physical activity and as an added benefit of weightloss. We have encountered very few other geocachers but it would appear these local geocachers are also seeking the weightloss benefit.
  4. I received an email message from Mr. Gigabyte informing me that he is an administrator of this website and as stated by peregrine also an approver. I apologize for my previous statement. I had him confused with someone else who was logging the false finds for the locationless caches. Mr. Gigabyte, please accept my sincere apology for my improper statement regarding your participation in this sport. Pay attention to me, boy! It is my belief that all but one outlined on your list are approvers, not administration. I would also be very suprised to learn that Mr Gigabyte is an approver as he has in the past taken great steps to discredit locationless caches by falsifying logs. Pay attention to me, boy! 8. quote:Originally posted by Curious George:Hi Foghorn - if you visited the caches then by all means log them. Why would I log the visit if I had not visited the geocache? If I visit the cache and find it I log it as a find. If I go and cannot find it I log a did not find. I can not always log the visit right away after going so I save the printed cache pages and do them as i can. This has not been a problem in the past. Thankyou Pay attention to me, boy! 9. quote:Originally posted by Curious George:To Foghorn: Go blow it somewhere else! Stop slamming individuals - Mariner is a good guy and he's taken enough unwarranted abuse over this whole situation. George it is three weeks since I slammed Mariner. As you know you cannot delete ond messages once the topic has run its course. It is Mariner BC who is now slamming people. Read his note about how nasty Canadians are. I am logging my geocaching finds today because I have the day off and the wife and kids are out. I did not know there was a time limit for logging finds. Do you think I Should delete them? I will not log the others until I hear back from you. Pay attention to me, boy! I'm not just talking to hear my head roar! - Foghorn Leghorn

  11. hello mopar, I was asking administration if there was a way to deal with this type of situation and some angry ones took offence. many supports of the removal of the offendding topics topics are scared to write here because as jeremy mentionedin the new persons area the geocachers oftentimes treat each other with distrspectfulness. I would still like to know from administration how we are to deal with persns we find to be offensive. Is there a mechanism in place for this sort of thing. I thought this forum area was for asking questions of administration. I did not know this forum was for everyone who is an administration wanna be to pipe in and give their opinion. quote:Originally posted by Mopar:YOU started this subject slamming a fellow cacher and making some pretty harsh accusations. Tons of people from all over the world went and tried to see what you were whining about. NOBODY else sees it. Not canadian cachers, not US cachers, not the admins here. You suggested someone needs to be removed from geocaching.com. Might I suggest starting with yourself? + _Tae-Kwon-Leap is not a path to a door, but a road leading forever towards the horizon. _ Pay attention to me, boy! 13. MarinerBC WHY WOULD YOU WAIT 21 days to bring up an old topic. Were you sad because no one was talking about you lately? Pay attention to me, boy! I'm not just talking to hear my head roar! - Foghorn Leghorn
  14. What would be different on the Canada site? The people in france seem to not have problems using this geocaching.com site. You want canadian flags all over the site? I don't see any other nations flag here unless the main site colour of green makes you think it is irish. It would be nice to have forum pages for each province or region so others do not need to hear the cachers on vancouver island complain all the time. Pay attention to me, boy! 15. A local geocacher has assisted me in creating an offset cache. I am very thankful for this and hope it will be approved this time. Also plantman did leave someone in charge of his caches but it was not yellowcord3. Thank you everyone for your assistance. Pay attention to me, boy! 17. Hello everyone, thank you for the suggestions many of which are very clever. I do not think there should be two caches in the exact same spot. We will move our cache a little further away from the read the signs cache so as not to cause conflict. I thought geocaching would prefer to have the non virtual cache there. While they would prefer this it cannot happen with the virtual owner incommunicado. One more point. I feel plantman should have left someone in charge of his caches since he will be away for so long. 18. quote:Originally posted by Car37 & Shnde:Or you could move your cache far enough away from the virtual site to quilify and have the two in the same area. Yours could be on a nearby hiking trail. Just a thought. Car37 Thank you for your comment. We placed this cache as a family and the children agreed upon this site so you can understand why it is special to me. Also, Geocaching.com administration suggested we contact the owner to see if they wanted to archive the virtual as it is my belief that Geocaching.com would prefer to see a real cache in a spot over a virtual. 19. quote:I guess you referring to this http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=37205. Just one question, What will you do if they do not want another cache nearby? Yes, that is the cache I was referring to. While I will understand if they do not want to archive their cache in favour of a traditional, my Children will be disapointed as this is the spot they selected. For your information, it was Geocaching.com administration who suggested I contact the virtual cache owner and ask them to archive the virtual cache. Pay attention to me, boy! Hiding a cache

Hello My family has hidden a cache at the plantman 0.4 virtual cache location and administration says they cannot activate my real cache since the virtual was listed first. They recommend that I contact the cache owner to have the virtual cache archived. I have sent email to plantman but there is no response. Now I hear he is on an extended vacation. Do any of you have a new way of contacting this traveling cacher? Pay attention to me, boy! I'm not just talking to hear my head roar! - Foghorn Leghorn
  21. Thank you everyone for the 48 !! emails I have received in my favour. It is really quite overwhelming. I have read all of your messages and will respond to them asap, but I type really slowly so please do not think I am rude if it takes a while Pay attention to me, boy! 22. I made a typing error. I hit the t instead of the w. I wanted to say the following: enjoyed the challenge will NOW have to do without. thank you Pay attention to me, boy! I'm not just talking to hear my head roar! - Foghorn Leghorn
  23. Hello, I do not know if you have noticed this or not but there is a geocacher (MarinerBC) in the Canada forum who has been so rude and arrogant as to make life very unhappy for many people. This cacher has caused a very generous team of geocache hiders to quit and everone in this area who once enjoyed the challenge will not have to do without. Is I fair that one person should be permitted to make life miserable for so many others? I do not believe it should be. Does Geocaching have a set of procedures in place to deal with the removal of bad apples who are involved in this sport? Pay attention to me, boy! 24. I guess I did not explain myself well. My reason for not logging finds online is due to the fact that I did not have a computer until a few months ago. I had not seen this web site until mid July of this year but I had been geocaching for about a year. Before technology entered our soggy condo a friend would print the pages for the local pages as well as those in areas of my business trips. Now that I am able to enter my logs online I am reluctant to do so as I will appear to have a very low number of cache finds and entering finds for the all caches I have been to over the past year would be tedious work. There is also a problem in that I have not retained a record of geocaches I have visited and my thoughts on the area. It is unfortunate I have not maintained a personal log. As for mentioning an easy find in a log, this only becomes a problem for me when it is reiterated in each and every entry. I find a comment such as "SP7 technique, no GPS used, 0 seconds to find" to be rude to the hider of the geocache. The SP7 relates to a cacher who is locally famous for incorrect coordinates. I did not feel it was proper to point fingers by naming names. Geoprincess had located the cache I refered to regarding changing the coordinates without first consulting the hider. I do not know what trolling refers to but I gather this is not a good thing to do. I have had this nickname since my teens as I sprouted much earlier than my friends. I am still rather large but thats another topic. Thank you all for your comments. Pay attention to me, boy! I'm not just talking to hear my head roar! - Foghorn Leghorn
