  1. I have always wondered this myself. It would be nice if you were drivng cross country and you the GPS popped up a box saying "Entering XXX timezone, adjusting time"
  2. There are alot of times on roadside micros where I won't even pull the gps out of the car. I'm sure that can account for some of the people not noticing the co-ords being off.
  3. I have a car adapter for an mp3 player that powers via a usb cable and I've powered my 60csx of that no problem.
  4. When you sat the new Mapsource products aren't compatible with the Vista C, I think you are refering to the City Navigator 8 NT. IIRC, the NT is designed for the newer units (x series and Quest 2). If you would get CN8 (not the NT version) it would work with your unit.
  5. For once, I honestly _don't_ want to throw fuel on a fire... I think your cache idea sounds good. This is what I'd do... First, e-mail you reviewer and see if (s)he'd approve the cache. No since in going throung all the effort of placing it if it wont get published. Make sure the desription has a good history of the church. Also, don't make all the swag religious. Throw a couple "neutral" things in there. Most importantly... have fun and don't take any negative feedback to heart. Bug And now for the smart-a[xx] part.... I think I'll go put some phamphlets in one of TWU's caches []
  6. If you e-mail Garmin support with suggestions/freature requests, they will (at least tell you they) forward it on to the product development people. I did this with one of the suggestions I had for my Quest2. (I had sugested that they add the ability to turn of distance rounding)
  7. To be honest, the only reason I have a Crosby jersey is that is my last name. (no relation...) I got mine off e-bay for a decent price. (Still expensive, but cheaper that what nhl.com wants.)
  8. They always loose to the Sens I was amazed the did as well as theydid against them in the playoffs last year. From what I've seen, the Pens are doing pretty good this year. (I need Center Ice. I don't get to watch near enouh hockey) My wife wouldn't let me wear my Crosby jersey to the game on Friday. Maybe I can talk her into it by the next time they come up here
  9. Just about any usb cable with the mini b plug will work. I think the one I'm using came with a camera. I have a bunch of usb cables laying around.
  10. Speaking of Penguins... Anyone else see them loose to the Sabres last night? Lets go Buffalo!
  11. I don't really like the new format. By the time a have to scroll past all the announcements and event listings to get to the new caches, I've lost interest. What about the possibility of two e-mails. One with the announcements and another with the caches.
  12. The actual altitude an airplane flys at will have a big effect on the cabin altitude. (inside pressure) The pressurization system in designed to only allow a certian maxim pressure differental between inside and outside the airplane. This is to pervent structural damage to the airplane. (hatches and window blowing out and rivits shooting off the plane wound be bad.) I don't know what the Max Differential is on a commercial plane is, but on a C-130 it's 15 inHg. I don't have access right now to the charts that will tell how that relates to altitude.
  13. I'd be in for a Sabres coin. Would it be possible to get a coin made up with trademarked images like a sports team's logo on it?
  14. One the coin I just released, I printed a bug sheet from the coins page and had my printer print 8 pages per sheet. This scaled it down to just the right side to fit in the coin flip. It's not as nice as the one pictured above, but it's an easy alternative.
  15. I don't turn the compass on until I get close to the cache. That way I don't have to worry about it being level or out of cal while I'm waking along the trail. Once I get near the cache and I'm not moving in a relitivley straight line, I'll turn the compass on.
  16. What you need is a serial->USB converter. Radio Shack or any computer store should have these.
  17. I found this link on another thread and it does a pretty good job walking through both the gs and mapsource: http://www.thepropers.com/geocaching/60Ser...ls.htm#Software
  18. Most of my caches are short hikes (.5 mi one way). I've just recently started carrying a small cache bag on these. This has just the essensials that used to just be thrown into various pockets. The bag is a Crown Royal bag that I tie around my belt. It has a pen, my signature poker chips, my Found by EVEL Bug lables, spare batteries, and if I have a small TB or geocoin I need to place, it goes in there to. If I'm going on a longer hike, I'll usually pring a backpack with more stuff.
  19. Actually, I was looking to be able to log the bug out from the cache log page, much like you can log it in. As for checking the goal, if I am going to a cache that has a bug in it, I'll usually look at the bug page before I go to the cache.
  20. I don't move TB's because of stats. I enjoy watching them move. In the idea i suggested, you'd still need to enter the tracking number for the bug. I also thing there should be a place to enter a note for the bug.
  21. That would be cool. I hace a DNF and a found DNF list that I use, and I do the cut and paste method.
  22. I thought I noticed my GPS picking up 48 on the way home today. (Quest2 w/ external antenna) Had a strong hollow bar and all the other sat's had a 'd'. GPS was showing 7' accuracy.
  23. I'm sure this has been brought up before, but has anyone considered an option to pick up a TB when you log a find. Since you can drop a TB from a find log, I thought it would only make sense to be able to pick up one instead of having to make a separate log. Perhaps this can be done with a box that you enter the TB tracking number and another text box for the TB log.
  24. This may seem overly simple, but why not just change the GC to something else for future waypoints?
  25. I think the problem resolved itself. If I had to guess, the sattelite data got messed up and I needed to let the almanac refresh. Garmin sugested reseting the data I'll try those if the problem continues. I also moved the mount to a clearer view of the windshield for good measure. I may look into geting an external antenna for my truck so I can actually keep the gps somewhere I can reach it. (The F150 has a very large dashboard)
