  1. I went to Wal*Mart after work the other day, and the had every size but the one I wanted. So, yesterday I stopped at a different Wal*Mart while at work and picked up a pack of small bags. Now my poker chips will stay nice and dry when I put them in caches. Thanks, Bug
  2. My original draft of my first comment in this thread suggested checking wqith the nearest crack dealer to see where he got his. No officer, these are for poker chips... honestly!
  3. I looked in Michaels the other day and didn't see them. I also wasn't sure where in the store to look. I'll check by the beads. If not, I'll check out Wally World. Thanks.
  4. Ahoy-ho! Some of the wooden nickels, poker chips and tokens that I've either found in caches or received in trades have been put into small ziplock bags just a little bigger than the item. Where does one get these. I'd like to get some for my poker chips and pathtags. Thanks, Bug
  5. My labels are made using MS Publisher. I have standard address labels for regular caches and return address labels for micros or small log books.
  6. Has any thought been given to making an option to receive a version of the instant notify tailored to cell phone text message? Something that has less info and would include a link to the wap listing for the cache? I think all the info I'd need in a cel phone instant notify would be cache name, waypoint code, and distance from home. Also, something I'd like to see included in any IN message would be the size of the cache.
  7. It's not that I am not willing to read the e-mails. In fact I rather enjoy it, espically with nw caches. What I don;t like is my e-mail going off eveny 5 minutes. I would much rather get one daily e-mail per cache, bug or bookmark list a day and read all the logs at once.
  8. I think this is a good idea. I thought bout it when I first started trading. I had the cache made and ready to go. Then started thinking that no one would do it. Maybe I will go ahead and try it. Also wanted to tell everyone that traded me Thank You. They are all very nice. I have a wooden nickle cache. Not everyone trades, but there's more in there than other caches. Wooden Nickle City
  9. For all my caches, I leave a special FTF poker chip. I would rather find something like that rather than a gift certificate or lotto ticket or something like that. But that factors into my attitude while caching. I am out more for the adventure and the hunt as opposed for what I can find. Usually the only items I take are personal items, tokens, wooden nickels, etc. If the cache you are placing is a themed cache, you may want to leave something related to that theme. One of my caches is geared toward trading wooden nickles and other tokens. For FTF prise, I left a pack of poker chips and labels.
  10. I too would like to have the daily e-mail as an option.
  11. I would love to see a quest model with SIRF and a memory card.
  12. i just wanted to thank everyone who traded with me. They are all very cool nickles, chips and cards.
  13. I'm not all that familiar with the Explorist line. All mine have been Garmin. I upgraded to the 60csx this past fall and love it.
  14. I would love to see a team loggin feature added to the website. Something where you can establish a team, select the members (or even check boxes to enable who was caching at that time). The log could look something like this: Team XYX (Tom, Dick, Harry) found this cache on 1/5/07 Then, for example if you are caching without Tom one day it could read Team XYZ (Dick, Harry) found this cache...
  15. I'm not familiar with the Vista, but the connection on my Quest and 60 CSx is a standard mini usb. I use the same cable for my GPSr's as I do for my camera or mp3 player.
  16. I would think all you need to do is when on the compass screen, hit menu and go to edit fields. Once there, change the field you want to you distance to destination. After you sdit you fields, hit the page button to get out of the edit fields mode. It's always shown the distance on mine. If for whatever reason that doesn't work, the distance to next should produce the same results if you are in off-road mode.
  17. IMHO, that would add too much to the cost of making the chips. I tenk to use whatever chips I can get a deal on. In fact, the ones I have now have suit boarders instead of the dice.
  18. I have some of my 2006 poker chips left. Let me know if anyone want to trade.
  19. Since you can watch TB's, it also makes it possible to follow the activity of other cachers.
  20. Oops... At least I can put the wrist strap back on now. I was wondering why Garmin made such a week attach point.
  21. The loop where the wrist strap attaches on my 60 CSx broke (the rubber tore at the top of the loop) after a couple months use. Is this a common problem? I haven't talked to Garmin yet about warranty yet, but assuming they fix it, is there anything I can do to reinforce this so it doesn't break again?
  22. Here's one for you. It's called O'Christmas Tree. The location here it's hidden is a group of five pine trees. hidden all around the trees are camouflaged film cans hanging from fishing line. Inside all of them are various Christmas messages or taunts "Not it, tired of looking yet?, etc).
  23. The way I understand is the tracking is only to see who has your tags. They are a trade item as opposed to a hitchhiker. I am thinking of making some, espically since the starter kit is 50% off right now. I would use this a special trade item.
  24. Perhaps it's because I'm lazy, but I never went back and backlogged my previous caches on my personal bug. Maybe someday I will, I don't know.
