  1. Think it's about time that cache size's are redone and guidelines as to what size fits into each. Definately need one for nano and probably another two mid range sizes.

Also, have the site show GMT time for those of us in United Kingdom, there are quite a few of us now!

When you say "site will be down in the afternoon tomorrow" we don't know when that is. Or at least give us the option to change it to another time and make your downtime messages more specific, in a number of time zones.

  2. No problem just the UK Reviewers facing a massive massive increase in No's submitted. Off course personally I could always try and increase the 5 to 6 hours per day I put in. :yikes. [unpaid at that]

To give you a idea of the sort of increase, 3 years ago the sort of level I saw on a manic Saturday or Sunday [which was then the busiest days of the week] does not now come close to the sort of No's waiting for us everyday, we're facing a daily increase of around 400% [that's every day and not just a manic single day of the week] compared to those manic days!

We are turning around the queue as fast as humanly possible, if there are issues with a cache. You will be informed of them via a Reviewer note to the cache.

Oh and add in one member of the team, away with no or extremely limited net access, as he's on a training course.

oh and I didn't do any reviewing yesterday :) due to keep have to talk to the big white telephone.

    Thanks Deci,

    keep at it :-)

Sounds like you need more help, how do you become a reviewer?

  4. Congratulations Alan & Sue from me and the rest of the Yelnow Consortium.

I think you will agree our Milestone cache was worthy of your milestone and was was as much fun to set up as it was for you to do it.

Anyone else out there who is nearing a major milestone and would like to do the cache, please let us know in advance so we have time to change things to suit like we did for each of the finders so far.

Follow the link to the cache Major Milestone

  5. I went on a special "Bug" hunt today. I picked out 4 caches to visit with the express purpose of grabbing a few bugs to move along. The caches I chose all showed at least 5 bugs in their inventories. Unfortunately, NONE of them contained ANY bugs.

Why doesn't Groundspeak or Geocaching.com allow cachers to mark these items as missing. One of the TB's had been on the inventory of a cache since 2006 even after several cachers noted it their logs that it was missing. In the least maybe there should be someone to audit the inventories after several "missing" logs the same as they audit and archive caches after several no find logs.

You can, mark it as missing, but would be nice if you inform owner as well!

  6. Add GC1PE18 to the list of caches destroyed by these morons, destroyed on the 8th, replaced yesterday afternoon and destroyed again some time today. These people have to be local.

I'm also aware they have done GC1DJW7 which is in the middle of nowhere so they aren't gust doing quick cache & dash ones.

Naturally no reply to my email from Groundspeak as of yet

How do you know it's been trashed and GC1DJW7 needs checking physically!!

  7. Hi,

We've just had one of ours done in the same manner ("Lutterworth in Flight" and on checking his profile for today, he/she has done 3 others today all with the same username. "c1213696"

I have sent an email to Groundspeak, will see what they say if / when they reply.

I will make all my other caches Premium Member only for now and see what happens

Alternatively I may collect all mine in tomorrow.

    Rik

Email to Groundspeak, well don't hold your breath for a reply, and if you do it will be absolutely no help what so ever

  8. So it seems that they are using a car to travel to and destroy caches in the name of Environmental protection? contradiction much?

They're probably living in the first area where the first caches were destroyed and seem to be destroying caches with TBs and geocoins in (to me).

I'm sure Groundspeak has an IP blocking facility, more reliable than email?

I can't see an area where you can report members?

I'm sure they have, but as we have yet to hear back from them we don't really know!
  9. Two more today bringing the total so far (that we know of) to eight.

I have plotted them on Memory map and so far they seem to be following the A6 A605 corridor from Santa Pod area to Oundle.

First thoughts were kids as they are on holiday from school, but the distance involved tends to rule that out. Also they are all traditional caches so far.

It’s sad that I had to make most of my caches member only, but I hope you will understand why, particularly my new series which took a considerable time to set up.

Sorry to see that you have had to do this. We are visiting Northants this weekend for a friend's birthday party and I had already uploaded the co-ordinates of three of your caches to attempt. Have only been doing this for 4 weeks and intend to become premium at some stage - I guess this just advances it. Would be interested to know which of your caches are missing in case we still try the ones we have ready.

My caches are as far as I know unaffected so far, I had one trashed some months ago but that has been archived.

  11. I thought FTF stood for First To Find, so that there can only be one FTF and in some cases joint FTF.

However there are an increasing amount of FTF claimers that just happened to be present when first found.

So come on you lot, play the game, PWFF if you were, FTF if you did!

    PWFF? Whassat?
