  1. You should definitely do Grinning from 'ere to 'ere. Another cache which has received some very good reviews is Saddle-Up Pale Lady. I have also completed this one, and agree that it is well worth the trek. If you want a real challenge, although you may call me biased, I would recommend combining Macc Forest Monster with Shutlingsloe
  2. I was wondering about this the other day also. I would like to see an extension of the race deadline - not just because my TB (Kung-Fu Hamster) isn't winning, but just because it has been such fun watching all the other bugs travelling around that I would like to see it carry on. I agree with SsylvrStorm that the discussion around extending the race deadline should be opened up.
  3. Thanks Woodsmoke, It really does make a massive difference to the speed of the Interactive Map. Excellent
  4. I think that Cache Adoption week is a great idea! There are a couple of caches in my area which are 'temporarily archived' and I would be willing to adopt. Out of interest, once you had stated your intent to adopt and received no objections, how did you go about transfering ownership of the cache?
  5. I really like the idea of having to get a Travel Bug before you can find the cache - I have also been in the process of setting this up. I have a large lockable cache box already, just haven't got around to sorting the TB out. Lets just hope that the "Key" Bugs don't get locked in each others respective boxes......
  6. This topic seems to have dropped down the forums, has the idea gone cold or are people still interested in this?
  7. Just wanted to add my thanks and apreciation to the organisers of this event. It was a most enjoyable day, and I was glad to see it well attended. Looking forwards to the next one
  8. quote:Originally posted by MarcB: quote:Originally posted by Grynneman (Liam & Sharon):Shame you're not a climber, I have one placed here on the upper tier, called Don't Look Down. A fantastic place to walk around anyway...See if anybody is doing the overhang test piece, Sloth. Nar! That evil cache is 10th on my nearest list and rising! Is it possible to do without a rope? MarcB Took Log Book, Left Nothing It's been the closest on my list for some time now . I keep wondering whether it's worth taking a look at, to see if you do need a rope etc, but then I get a grip of myself and say 'NO dont even think about it' . I'm gonna have to find someone with ropes etc, and organise a trip out there......
  9. A friend of mine at work was just showing me a printout from something called Anquet. I had a quick look at the website, Anquet and it looked pretty cool. My friend had been out for a bike ride the night before, and downloaded his track from a Garmin eTrex into Anquet, and it showed the route they took, and also a profile of the elevation - which came from the mapping software, not the GPS apparently. Has anyone had any experience of this?
  10. This sounds like fun. I would be interested in doing this. I reckon I should be able to muster a 'local' team together..... I think there should be an upper limit on the number in a team though, otherwise one group of say ten cachers could just trounce all the other smaller teams. It could maybe even be something like North vs South, or on a county basis (or would that be too contraversial?) . When were you thinking of starting it up?
  11. I'm up for the weekend of the 30th/31st - I am planning to do the 3 peaks (Terrain 5 Geocaches...) in the Yorkshire Dales the weekend before. The two locations Seasider has mentioned sound a good bet - close to Motorways etc. Also, maybe Ranger Nigel could get permission for us to use the park......? (And I haven't done these caches so thats another good reason!!!) Count me in .
  12. Fossil Transfer is good, I agree. I prefer the longer cache's though, that really make you work hard - Around the Edge was good, but archived now unfortunately. Another Excellent Multi Cache is Saddle Up Pale Lady. For ingenuity though, it has to be Grinning from 'ere to 'ere
  13. I'd be interested in attending this, being as though I live in Cheshire. I can't promise too much time in terms of helping with organising, but I would do my best to help out.
  14. I think it sounds like a good idea. I would be interested in helping out. I will be travelling to the USA at the end of June, and was thinking about looking for travelbugs a couple of weeks before that wanted to go in that direction, and going to pick them up. As for it being cheating, I don't think so, people don't have to use the service if they do not want to do they? MaccLad
  15. I agree, I have only just started looking at these discussion forums in the past few days, and can't believe the level of bickering going on. I would appreciate someone stepping in, and maybe getting the forums back on track. It's hard to pick up a decent thread without the same argument creeping back in. MaccLad
  16. Hi, You must have picked that up after I dropped it off at the weekend then! I tried the e-mail link to let the "owner" know where I had deposited it, but as you have found out, it doesn't work. I don't really know what they are all about, probably just a lame attempt to copy travel bugs. MaccLad
