  1. Haha, no worries. I'm glad with all the help, with or without typos.
  2. Oh, thanks, this could be helpful. Maybe that is also the reason why some people report the problem and others don't. I will try it that way.
  3. No, but I turned off the "lock on road" (or something like that). Should I put in on "off road" navigation ?
  4. I know this is an old topic, but I'm really having troubles with the sticky issue on my Etrex 20 and Garmin says they never heard it on Etrex. Software is already 4.50 and it's still there. Anybody who can help me, please ? Garmin advice is to buy a new one. As if.
  5. I send several mails to Garmin BE, but I have to wait a week or more before I get an answer and then they answer in one sentence or with a question. Mostly, I have to ask something back or give some information, wich means waiting for another week or so. This is going on for a few weeks now, so today I decided to call them. Operator wasn't friendly at all, went on about "not having time to Google things" and "people say a lot on the internet", when I told him about the 'sticky issue'. So I decided to contact Garmin UK. The guy in the chat was kind, but the answer was the same: not on warranty anymore, there is nothing we can do, the issue is unknown. So that's it. I spend 200 EUR on a GPS that fails to perform and which is clearly not my fault and I have to pay for replacement. Never again a Garmin, that's for sure.
  6. No, I never use the compass. There is a blue arrow on the map that moves when you move and that shows where you are. That one stops moving and the numbers for distance to target stop counting down. Not very handy when it comes to geocaching. I hear that that problem was resolved, but I don't see how. In a certain software version, then ? How come I still have it on the latest software version ?
  7. Since long, I have a problem with my Etrex 20: the arrow doesn't move anymore when I'm near a geocache. After a LOT of Googling, today I found that it is a common problem and is called the "sticky issue". (once you found the right word, you find a lot of posts, but before I thought I was the only one with this problem) But now...I see that it should be fixed with software 2.8, but mine is running on 4.50 and I still have the issue. Am I understanding something wrong, maybe ? Is there anyone who can help me with this ?
  8. Thx for this usefull advice ! I will certainly keep it in mind. :-)
  11. I have one simple question. I know there are several ways to install an openstreetmap on my Garmin, like using Basecamp or copying the .img-file directly on the root of the GPS with Windows Explorer. Is there a difference in both methods ? Copying the IMG-file on my GPS seems to work fine and I don't need the rest of the Basecamp options, since I'm a light user. So...can I continue copying maps through Win Explorer or should I - for some reason - use Basecamp ? What do you think ?
  12. Very strange, but no, I never took a picture of it's code. Maybe someone else did, but how do I find out ?
  13. I have (or should I say "had") 3 TB's. One of them is missing and the other two are in the hands of GC'ers. I sent them both a message, but they don't respond. What can I do to have my TB's moving again ?
  14. Sorry...problem solved. Apparently there were 4 tiles overlay between the two maps, which caused the problem.
  15. I downloaded two maps, one for Germany, one for Austria, from Garmin Openstreetmap, which gave me two gmapsupp.img-files. I put them both in the directory Garmin (from my Garmin Extrex 20) and renamed them to gmapsuppduitsland.img en gmapsuppoostenrijk.img. I gave the maps both a different name to display on my Garmin through JaVaWa GMTK. Now, I'm in Austria and when I put the GPS on, I see a blank screen where I should see streets, etc. When I look in the menu, I can see in the list of maps my maps Germany as well as Austria. So the maps are showing in the list, but when I activate Austria, nothing happens, my map is a blank screen (with an arrow, but no streets). What am I doing wrong ?
  16. Do you mean I did something wrong there ? Oh, and some other question too. I understand that there are lists of TB-numbers, then, so that anybody can log the TB, even if he didn't discover it ? Why would you like to do that ? Isn't that cheating ?
  17. Owkay....I don't quite follow, I'm sorry. Do I have to delete these logs, then ? Euhm...why ?
  18. I'm very new to GC, so I may have a stupid question, but I don't seem to find an explanation... I have 2 TB's going around. One of the two is located in Spain and I get every day mails about "(name) has discoverd...", but the TB doesn't move. What does this mean ? How come that everybody seems to find my TB, but nobody moves it ???
  19. Bedankt, dat ga ik zeker eens proberen !
