  1. According to hubby Timberland are more comfortable and last longer than Red Wings. He likes to wear his Timberland Steel Toes. Good for kicking frozen rocks loose.
  2. Regular PQs showed up on download tab but not My Finds last night.
  3. I did the ET Highway by myself without moving caches and was averaging 50-65 an hour for the first 4-5 hrs. Managed 672 in 16hrs because I did get tired and my rate went down. It was in July and I saw temps of 108*. Had to keep hydrating. Took time for pictures and lizard rescues too. I know it's possible so I believe him.
  4. This is very upsetting. I had several trips planned to hit some of these great EC's next spring. I would also be willing to adopt quite a few that I have visited. Sad day for EarthCaching.
  5. I'm surprised at how many don't believe that pace is possible. I did the ET Highway SOLO and got 55 the 1st hour and more than 60 during a couple hours, til I got tired and slowed down. I think later in the evening I was taking short naps between caches. Still found 672 in just 16hrs of caching, plus 2 lizard rescues and stopping for several pictures and a couple benchmarks. You think it was challenging with a team, try it by yourself. It was at least 108 deg. for a high temp that day. Trying to stay hydrated and nourished cost quite a bit of time too but the caches were so quick it was crazy.
  6. Found unwrapped fish crackers in one of my magnetic key cases. I would trade for Coke caps but never find any. Sometimes rocks are in small caches to weight them down. I know a few people that collect golf balls. And have known people to collect Scratched-off lottery tix.
  7. How long should I wait for a reply to a question sent to contact@geocaching.com? What is the usual response range? I sent an email 3 days ago and received the automated question received response but have not received an actual reply.
  8. Been waiting for 7hrs.
  9. If it's a dead end road and they own the property on both sides, they can and very well may have taken over ownership of the road.
  10. I'm on the search for a specific military Challenge Coin that was given away to the troops in Iraq and Kuwait during a recent base tour by the music group Los Lonely Boys. These are exactly like geocoins but are not trackable. Here's a pic
  11. I have found a couple phantom logs during maintenance and have asked them to delete their find.

    hola

Hola, Just remember to have fun and enjoy the surroundings. Orale!
  13. The 2 night caches I've done were Mystery caches due to the Unknown location of the final. I think Multi-cache implies multiple containers. If there's only 1 container it should be Mystery cache.
  14. My hobbies are IndyCar races, Los Lonely Boys concerts, and Autograph collecting. I cache while on trips to do these other activities but other than 2 caches that were at race tracks can't really combine them. I do leave my login autograph in the logbook. While speaking of hobbies, anybody else an IndyCar fan? Would love to hear from you. Or Los Lonely Boys fan? Got a concert in Milwaukee coming up soon-road trip.
  15. The laws vary in every state, so unless you are familiar with all 50+ states laws you shouldn't make blanket statements about what does and doesn't constitute trespassing. I've cached a lot at night, but we try to choose caches along country roads for that. Or parks that are obviously still open, lights on and no signs. We were stopped a couple weeks ago, around 2am for acting strange and we were just driving to the next cache. Slowed on a 4-lane to punch up cache and determine if park was open, changed lanes and turned into a dead end subdivision to turn around and go back to park. Although officer seemed like he didn't believe us, he let us go after just a couple min. and watched us go back to the park AT 2AM. It was a dnf, so we headed out of town and ended up at a guardrail within .25mi of a prison. Just asking for trouble, I know. 2 of us were stopped in broad daylight too. In a small city park looking around an evergreen growing in a concrete/brick square thing. Neighbors called us in because we were suspicious. A middle-aged fat girl and a 65yr old preacher. Still not sure what I did that was suspicious. We were giving the shurbery our blessing. Hubby and I were ordered out of the woods behind a vacant lot near an interstate ramp because an officer thought we were drinking back there. It was 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Once I explained and told him the cache had been there for over 3 yrs he was fine. Campus security came by late at night at one cache, he was ok with it too. Bottom line, evaluate the area before you stop, don't stay for more than 10min, and if confronted-be pleasant, don't lie, and tell them that you were leaving. Then don't complain about the officers doing their job, whether they did it well or not. He may have been shot at previously under a similar circumstance, you just never know.
  16. My guess is that the battery is fried. Have you tried a different battery? I have had 2 go bad in my Explorist 400. Both bought from Magellan for spares. I heard something about some bad power adapters that might have caused it so I switched that out too just in case.
  17. I'm not sure what you are proud of? Kind of annoying if you ask me. I'd much prefer a TFTC than have to read all about YOU and your accomplishments. Reminds me of year end cards I get from my narcissistic relatives. Ooohh, that didn't take long. HaHa Off the top of my head I'm proud of the fact that this is a free country and if I want to be a C+P'r I can. And proud of the military including family members who fight for that right. Again, if you don't care, then don't read them, that is your right. Seriously, I'm quite relieved that all I need to post is TFTC.
  18. I shall reply or not reply to what I choose. I shall log or not log what I choose. Wasn't really expecting the majority to support because most that post just post opposing viewpoints. There was also no intention to argue or get personal. I have no problem with their hides or them personally just the actions that occurred. If the hide was unique or if something interesting was there or happened I always add a unique portion to the cache log. If you want 200 unique posts than make 200 unique hides, not 200 similar hides strung along a roadside. And with that said I still had fun finding them as a whole days experience and would gladly find another 150 guardrails just like them because it's about the journey. If every cache was a hike in the woods, every cache would have a unique story. So what I came up with is- Majority doesn't like C+P. Majority doesn't like long repeated stories. Majority doesn't want to know how many caches you found. But the majority still would not delete for those reasons. Excellent, next time I find over 100 caches in a day, looks like TFTC logging should take about an hour, not 2 days. Goody more time to find more caches! Ok, got to go plan this weekends power run. Look out for all those TFTC's coming your way. COPY + PASTER AND PROUD OF IT!
  19. I never said you cared about the record run, I was only stating why each log was not unique. It was all part of the grand experience. The logs that were deleted were the same as the one you read in the 1st example. Thanks for everyones input so far.
  20. Last attempt to defend the C+P whether it be long or short. As for the lame C+P's we posted 138x's, one of us long and the other shorter. What part of It Was A RECORD Run, does everybody not get. Or maybe thats the real thorn in their side? I did not have the time to take notes on each cache, nor did I want to. But I felt I should write more than 138 TFTC's. NO ALR=No reason to be unique, or short, or long, or just TFTC. I don't think reviewers should get involved either, its our responsibility to work it out, which we did. To my knowledge their are no direct relationship issues, we have not met the hiders that gave us grief.
  21. And no mistaken- IT IS WORK to get the #'s. A lot of time spent analyzing the PQ and route. And you WILL Be sore and tired and have what we refer to as a caching hangover for a couple days. When we set our record we would usually jog to or from the cache even if its only 100-200ft. Every second counts. Even if you dont just getting in and out of the Jeep 300 x's is exhausting. Like Muther said, take quick notes so you remember the cache.
  22. Finally back to the point of Should the Cache owner be able to delete you just because your log is too long or is C+P when there are no specific ALR's?
  23. wait, so because briansnat doesn't have 1000 caches in one weekend, that means he's lazy?? have you ever looked at the caches he's found or placed? Have you ever looked at the caches Joranda has found? If it were up to him, they would all be on islands or 30+ ft up a tree, or on the side of a mountain. Joranda is definitely not a lazy cacher. Mr. MOGA champion can Copy+paste all he wants.
  24. The part I copy+paste usually consists of 3 things. 1. The find # and who I found it with.(The find # is for my reference, I know you dont care about that) 2. Something about the weather(which can be helpful). (Lets people know if it can still be found in the snow or flood conditions or only when its dry) 3. And Thanks for placing and maintaining the hide so that we could enjoy the hunt and the day together.(I always say Thanks even if it was crappy) THIS IS THE SAME FOR THE WHOLE DAY Even if I typed every single log, I would still type those 3 things and they would be identical on every cache that day. Since I'm not a fast typer and there are only so many ways to say thanks for the cache, I still don't see the big deal if I C+P a few sentences that I would end up typing anyway.
  25. No. Being a professional sports fan is more expensive. Tix for 2 to attend 7 or 8 of the biggest Nascar races of the season and the companion race the day before. Plus gas or airfare and rental, hotel or camping fees(motorhomes arent cheap and neither are good tents and cots). Ind. pops and bottles of water run $4-5 ea and youre there in metal stands in 90+ deg. for 6-10hrs. Not to mention souveniers.
