  1. Phew, the search feature seems to be working OK again tonight! Thanks for the replies.
  2. Normally, when I type a place name or postcode into the "Search" box on the opening page of the geocaching.com website I am taken to a list of the caches nearest to that spot. Since last night, I am taken instead to a different, and useless, page: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest.aspx?lat=0&lng=0&dist=100 Where all I see is: All Geocaches 00° 00.000 000° 00.000. Map this Location New Search Practice "Cache In Trash Out®" While out geocaching, bring a bag with you to pick up trash along the way. Visit the Cache In Trash Out® page to learn more about CITO. If I hit "Map this location" it takes me to blank, blue ocean. If I zoom out enough, I can eventually see that I am in the ocean to the west of Africa, which I assume is the spot associated with all the 00 00.000 000 coordinates. I have tried on both my desktop iMac and my iPad, which are each using Internet Explorer. Is anyone else having this problem today?
  3. I just found this thread when googling the same question. Chief, I can't see any button in the top right hand corner of the caching app I downloaded from the geocaching.com website recently. Top left there are one or two, but they don't seem to offer the inputting of coordinates.
  4. I was wondering about the same issue in the original post. I live in the UK, and have just acquired my first smartphone. I have taken a contract with 3 mobile as I spend a lot of time in France and, as stated above, 3 allows use of your monthly allowance of calls and texts to UK phones, and data use, without extra roaming charge. My daughter insisted however that I switch "data roaming" off unless I really needed it. I am a bit dense about all this still, but I find that even with data roaming switched off, my geocaching app functions normally, so I suppose it is using the 3g network. My question is: As I am in France at present, is it going to incur extra phone cost to geocache in this way? It is working very well here. What is the app connecting to? If 3g, then does that mean a phone number? And if so, would it be a local one in France (for which I know I would have extra to pay)? Or is it linking back to. UK phone number, in which case I think there will be nothing for me to pay extra to 3 mobile. Or should I switch data roaming back on, and somehow disable the 3g connection? Is this even possible? 5. Ah, that could explain it, RK! I haven't actually set out to find them yet (still sitting at computer!), but it might make more sense when I am near GZ. I am most impressed by having so many replies within a few seconds! Thank you all.
  6. Hello, newbie here... I'm probably asking a stupid question, but here goes: Today, having by now found more than a dozen caches, I thought it was time I upgraded to Premium membership. So I have. I removed all the caches I already had saved on my Garmin eTrex20 so that when I reloaded them they would have all the extra info on them that Premium entitles you to. Now I do see the full description of the caches (which I didn't before), and some of the finders' feedback, but there is never any sign of the useful "Additional hints" - coded or uncoded. I thought this would come over to the GPS as well? Is that not so? Or is there something I have missed doing? I thought I would be quite paperless by now! Thanks in advance for any hints.
