  1. Thank you, Paul.... I did manage to find a couple of caches in Berlin. There were a couple close to the World Clock that come to mind. Anyway... on with the quiz... Sax Rohmer wrote the books. Christopher Lee played the villain in the movies. Nayland Smith was the 'good guy' What was the name of the actress that played the villain's daughter in the aforementioned movies? mwwaaahhhh........ The world will hear from me again!!
  2. Hang about... When I was in Berlin in July, I seem to remember walking past some Lego animals. Can't remember if there was a giraffe, though, and I didn't look for a cache there. In fact didn't look for many caches at all.
  3. It would seem the problem has been sorted as I can now log out and in again with impunity.
  4. Has there been a 'update' recently because I can't log out or change accounts. I'm logged into Geocaching.com as 'Pharisee' but I also have a second account. If I 'Sign Out' of Pharisee, I get the normal Sign In page come up. I've entered my second username and password, clicked the Sign In button and I'm logged in as Pharisee again. This is happening on both my desk top PC using Firefox and my lap top which uses Internet Explorer. Is anyone else experiencing this problem

  6. No, no, no.... THESE are micros. Anything smaller is just geo-litter!!
  7. I ran CacheSense on my Blackberry Curve 9300 and to be honest, I thought it was pretty good. Having upgraded to a Blackberry Q10, I downloaded CacheSense for that and it was total garbage.... I couldn't understand it or get it to work properly at all. I've just visited the CacheSense forum and discovered that they've had so much trouble with it that it's been dropped... maybe permanently! I now use the c:geo app and while it takes a bit of getting used to, it does at least do what it says on the tin.
  8. Could someone translate that into English for me... please?
  9. That's pretty much correct and I'll give the 'DING' to Clue-72. Ira Hayes was was a native American, belonging to the Pima tribe of Arizona. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps and was one of the six men to raise the American flag on Iwo Jima. After the war he became an alcoholic and died of cold and alcohol poisoning after an all night binge in 1955. He was buried, with full military honours, in Arlington National Cemetery. Some would say that his true claim to fame was the fact that Johnny Cash sung a song about him!
  10. I believe it's when an assembly, (usually the engine), is stripped to it's component parts and re-assembled making certain that all components are machined to exactly the correct size and that all clearances are exactly to specification. i.e.... that everythig is exactly as per the 'blueprint'.
  11. It's maybe a good time for missing T/Bs to turn up. I had two notifications on Monday; one about a travel bug that had been in an English cachers possesion for over two years.... That one suddenly popped up in a cache. The second T/B went missing from a muggled and archived cache in Greece a few months ago. That has re-surfaced in a cache in Germany. Don't give up hope... !!!!
  12. I, to, am glad you're back, Nick.... It seems half a lifetime ago since I gave Mrs BC a scare in the bushes up at the old Clophiil church!!
  13. Whenever I've put out new caches, they've always been 'Members Only' for the first few weeks, then I open them up to everybody. Today I put them ALL back to Members Only.
  14. Another of my caches has been vandalised and the small ammo can that was the cache container has been stolen. The contents were just dumped on the ground at the cache location. For the time being I've replaced it with a plastic box but having had three ammo cans stolen, that's the last time I'll replace any more of my caches. I had plans for a couple of new trickier ones but they will not get placed now and as any of my current caches need maintenance, I'll just archive them. All my caches have been made Premium Member Only caches and will remain so but 'stable door' and 'horse' come to mind. If the cretin responsible can read.... "May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your ar.......... errr, nether regions."
  15. I was on the one at Great Yarmouth last weekend and that didn't reach the sea!
  16. I have a cache set that is quite a long way from home and in order to have it published I had to enlist the help of a local cacher. I set up a 'Message Rule' in my email client (Outlook Express) that automatically forwards any email whose subject line contains the cache's name to that helper. He now receives a copy of any logs on that cache and deals with them accordingly. Maybe you could set up something like that for an 'adopter' whilst still maintaining ownership.
  17. Why do people just 're-post' comments that have already been posted by another cacher without adding anything? Seems daft to me.... but what do I know?
  18. I have a 'Blackberry' but I'm not sure that counts as a 'smartphone'. I do know that it's a lot smarter than me so I only use it to make phone calls and sent the occasional text. Personally, if I read on the cache page that I'd need to 'scan a QR code' to complete the cache, I'd ignore it and move on... sorry .
  19. That's exactly what a DNF log is for. You checked the co-ordinates... You searched for ages... You didn't find it. Log it as a DNF!! I very often get DNF logs on my caches and I go and check them at the first opportunity. Quite often the caches are where they should be but the visit gives me the opportunity to clean them up and add a few bits and pieces. I'm never upset or offended if someone posts a DNF; although I do sometimes wonder just where the hell they were searching... .
  20. Agreeed... The reviewers volunteered their serviced to Groundspeak and should only be answerable to them. The ban on placing caches on land that is managed or owned by the M.O.D. should only be put in place if and when someone from the M.O.D., who has the authority do do so, contacts either a reviewer directly or contacts Groundspeak and informs them of the ban. The fact that some nameless person, who may or may not have that authority, has told the someone in the G.A.G.B., who definitely have no authority to implement a ban, that caches are no longer permitted is totally irrelevant and should be ignored until such time as the above condition has been met.
  21. Since when?? I've been rattling around these forums for 10 years or more and I can't recall anyone ever saying it "isn't allowed", let alone forum moderators blanking out a cache ID just because someone asks for help. Ok... A new cacher might not be aware of the etiquette but but as far as I'm aware, that's all it is and there's no question of breaking any rules/guidelines just for asking.
