  1. I'm going to have to get one of those rockets to jet myself up to ridgetops! I just know that someday we'll be standing below Criminal's cache, looking up at a crumbly hill just waiting for a mudslide, and Pepper's going to say...."but Cindy, it's only 300 feet. We can bushwhack our way up." I was down in the Puyallup area today, dropping off the Hot Potato, and I really enjoyed the scenery. It would have been better on a clear day, but I'm going to make my way back down there for a day of caching soon. I haven't ever visited Gig Harbor -- would love to get down there for some fun caching! Cin
  2. I had the privilege of being the first cacher Og has ever met in person. Other than the big blue horns and and the spinning red eyes, she's pretty normal. Og, next time you get up a bit north, the Peanut Butter Brigade will take you out for a fun cache outing. Cin
  3. Hola! If I don't meet you at an event, hopefully we'll run into each other on a beautiful trail somewhere. Cin
  4. Those are some fun ones. I'm thinking it must be time to drag my husband's butt southward for a full day of caching. Cin
  5. Dang, you all are out having fun and I'm stuck at home working working working. I'm just hoping that I'll be able to get out for some fun before next week. To satisfy my yearning, let me ask: what's the favorite cache you've done in the past month? Is there a new devious puzzle that had everyone foiled? Was there a nice hike or a gorgeous view that added to the caching experience? Just hoping to plan something fun when I'm actually able to get outdoors again, Cin
  6. I think having something like "official geocoin" or "special geocoin" is important. Lots of people don't know what the coins are, and indicating that it's something special for geocaching would be good. I'd keep that on the front, or perhaps on the back instead of geocaching.com I like the roughdraft you did of the mountain! It's getting there, Pepper. Cin
  7. Popping this to the top, since the party is tonight. Cin, Pepper, and Michele are in Spokane -- headed off for some pre-party caching!
  8. EGH, skydiver has a special alert e-mail service -- it alerts you when a new cache has been approved. Usually, it happens within hours, sometimes a full day. I can't remember if I subscribed on his store site (skydivergear.com) or somewhere else. I don't think I've gotten a new cache alert in a few days. Perhaps his service is down? Cin
  9. Jeff and I went out late afternoon/early evening to grab a couple of caches. Number 400 was Seth & Adrian's Steel Mill II. We got there just at sunset, so the pond was really beautiful. Cin
  10. Hey, I'm up for some caching before the party. Perhaps we could meet up at the hotel (or at a cache somewhere). Cin
  11. Hey Paul -- I'm not sure yet what time Michele and I will be heading over. I'm thinking not too early, just to give any icy roads a chance to clear off a bit. Our tentative schedule is to leave tomorrow morning and head back home Sunday -- I'll let you know more after I talk with Michele today. Cin
  12. If you live near Spokane, you might be interested in attending the pizza party this Saturday. It’s a fun way to meet other cachers, plus there will be some discussion about forming an Eastern Washington chapter of the WSGA. DATE: SATURDAY, JANUARY 17th TIME: 7:00 p.m. (or whenever you get there) LOCATION: Savage Land Pizza, 700 S. Dishman Road Spokane, WA For more details, see the WSGA Pizza Party Cache Page Weather permitting, I'll be there with a few other WSGA officers from the west side of the state. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! Cin
  13. Thought I'd post a few caches in the city that showcase natural settings and views: Richmond Beach Overlook (there are 3 or 4 caches in this beachfront park) Huskies, Herons, Horticulture Wash Out for That Lake (also one of the older caches around, hidden in March 2001) If you've got a car, and you'd like to go for some nature walks or hikes, let us know. There are many beautiful caching areas in the forested trails on the east side of Lake Washington. Also, if you want a ferry trip, there are caches that will get you to some of the most beautiful locations in the Puget Sound. Cin
  14. If you'd like to combine a cache with some sightseeing, there's a fun one near the Seattle City Center: CWB (Center for Wooden Boats). It's a fun multi-cache in an interesting location. Cin
  15. Yup, I'm beyond the boundaries, but I'll do my best to keep that darned potato to the south. Cin
  16. Hello! Laramie, Wyoming is my home town. I live in the Seattle area now, but I visit my family there (Laramie) a couple of times a year. This past fall, my brother and I placed two caches around town. I also had a great time visiting caches in the Snowy Range and near Vedauwoo. I don't see many posts from Wyomingites to these forums, but there are definitely quite a few cachers around the state. I know that the Rock Springs area seems to be one of the most cache-intense areas. There's also quite an active group in Colorado and throughout Utah -- if you're on the southern or western sides of the state, you might want to check out their forums and see what sort of things are going on. Welcome to Geocaching, and lets hope you hear from some cachers in the cowboy state soon! Cin
  17. After PaulW's comment above, I looked at the map again -- this doesn't get up into my area. Does that mean I can't participate, or does it mean the caches that hold the geo-hot potato need to be in that area? Cin
  18. That is too bad. I've never done any of OtisPug's caches, but I did do one near Spokane that was inspired by his: Pug Cloning by niskibum. It was one of the most creative hides I've ever seen. Cin
  19. Jeff grew up in Vancouver, and we're really hoping to get up there for the cache machine. Unless something unexpected happens, we're there. Cin
  20. Aurie and I braved our way past the sledding multitudes and walked down to the park on Lake Sammamish. It was beautiful, and Aurie just can't get enough of the snow. When Jeff drove home from work this afternoon, the car was pelted with snowballs as he approached the house. Lots of people out playing in the snow today. I suspect that tomorrow will be a different story. The highways are already slick, and the freezing rain is on its way. The videos from Portland look pretty nasty. At least things should be warming up after about 24 hours, then it's only floods we have to deal with. What an interesting year of weather we've had! Cin
  21. We have about 1.5 inches at my house in Redmond, but they've been saying that the eastside suburbs won't get as much as Seattle and other parts of the Puget Sound. The snow is coming down heavier right now than it was before, so maybe we'll get a good layer of the white stuff. Aurie and I walked down to Lake Sammamish -- what a beautiful sight that was! It's quite windy off the water, so the snow is swirling and there are white caps on the waves. The park, which is usually empty at this time of the year, was full of people with dogs. The sidestreets are full of kids with sleds. Cin
  22. So....next to Wunderbars, Nanaimo Bars are my favorite chocolate treat. I'm up for a cache machine that gets me to the region with one of the world's greatest brownies. Cin (a discriminating chocolaholic)
  23. Obviously, I need to get some energy -- I've been hybernating at home, no geocaching, no fun.... Dang, all work and no play makes Cin a boring geocacher! Once this latest STORM OF THE DECADE (insert echo effects) plays out, I need to go on a cache machine of my own. cin
  24. Oh, great, now I have the underpants gnome song stuck in my head.... Where is the Rogue Valley area? (sorry, I've only lived here for 1.5 years, and I'm still getting to know place names) Cin Redmond, WA
