  1. I got the coin today and it looks really cool! Thank you so much for the contest!!
  2. Since I won the last contest I don't really feel like I shoudl participate in this one...BUT I had to say that I do teh same thing as you! Although I collect "Cinderella" books...my mom travels a LOT now that she is retired and I got about 10 Cinderella books all in different languages for Christmas...I also collect different VERSIONS of the story...so while not called "Cinderella" the concept is the same!
  3. I didn't post earlier...but THANK YOU! A great contest!
  4. Thanks for sharing this one with us! Please tell us which ones are still with you Albert left for the Rainbow Bridge in Feb 2007 Elmo left for the bridge in Nov 2007 and my baby Blue left this past March 2008. But Ozzie, Rosie and Duke are still with us and loving having more space on the couches! lol. I am constantly amazed at what a good job the artist did...considering these are made out of wood!! The colors are right on, even the facial expressions are perfect! It's definitely something that I'll cherish long after these 6 dogs pass on and we have new pups in the house...
  5. We won?! Yea!!! I'm so happy.....(and just as a note...my husband and I do the 12 days of christmas presents before christmas because I hate waiting...so anyway...he wraps his presents in cracker boxes and stuff so I have no idea what they are...and I just wrapped his normally tonight....so he easily guessed that he got a chocolate bar tonight while I had NO idea about the book light that he got me since it was in a Hamburger Helper box!! lol.) Thanks again for the contest! I loved reading about everyone's traditions!!
  6. Have all the coins been mailed out? We haven't received ours yet so I just wanted to be sure that we're on the list (I know that mail can be slow this time of year)
  7. I can't believe you have the willpower!!! lol
  8. I can't believe you have the willpower!!! lol
  9. Our caching name is the Tank Hounds...Mr TH was in the Army for 21 years (just retired) and one Christmas for fun we put our 2 hounds up on a tank display at Ft Leonard Wood, MO where we were stationed at the time...it then became a tradition...so every year we dragged all our hounds to a tank on the Army base where we were stationed and plunked them up there and took their picture! So when we decided to do our first trade only coin that it had to have the tank hounds on it...We think that it came out great!!! The back side is of the Engineer Castle (Mr TH was a Combat Engineer in the Army). There are also 6 paw prints to represent all 6 of our hounds that we had at the time the coin was made. We also made it in the shape of a "dog tag"....to represent both the military and our "dogs" Below are all links to all 8 years of our tank hound pics and a pic of our coin. 2008 http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue..._2008_fixed.jpg 2007 http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue117/CA722XZF.jpg 2006 http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue...ankpicclose.jpg 2005 http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue...2005TankPic.jpg 2004 http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue...2004TankPic.jpg 2003 http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue...2003TankPic.jpg 2002 http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue...2002TankPic.jpg 2001 http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue...2001TankPic.jpg
  10. So When I moved to IN last year with everything I could fit in the Honda...I left all of our Christmas stuff in Colorado..except for this one item...I had it commissioned by a wood carver in Alaska....These are teh Tank Hounds (although only 3 are still with us). It's one of my favorite pieces. (and before you ask...my stove top isn't dusty..that is the way that it's made!!! lol) This is Duke and Elmo This is Rosie and Ozzie This is Albert and Blue
  11. We belong to a list serve for basset hound owners (imagine that!lol) and every year we have a card exchange for those interested....stipulation is that your hounds have to be on the card...this is just a SMALL sampling of some of the cards that we have received so far...We love this time of the year!!
  12. I suppose I'm probably disqualified because I don't have a pic of my fav ornament. All my Christmas stuff is in boxes in my garage at my house in Colorado that just won't sell...anyway...it's of a cheap plastic bell with a 3D santa inside it...anyway when I was little I insisted on putting it on the very bottom of the tree...that way when Santa put the presents under the tree he would ring the bell, I would hear him and I could do downstairs and see him! Unfortunately I was a very sound sleeper! lol. My other favorite Christmas decoration is our Angel tree topper. My brother made it in grade school. It's very fragile now as it's very old and it was made out of cardboard and other "grade school" material. My brother died when he was 16, so it's very special to my family. It was always the last thing on the tree when we decorated. I think that my mom has it now in storage (she doesn't put up a tree a lot anymore since it's just her and it's more hassle than not), but I know that it will always bring back great memories.
  13. I guess this is a "tradition"....it's something that my family has always done. On Christmas morning we open our presents...but we open them one at a time and we take turns. And we always have to guess what each present is...it's pretty funny. One Christmas my family was spending the holidays with my mom's sister's family (so my cousins and their spouses). There was a huge pile of presents because there were about 8 of us and a little kid. Well we started opening and next thing my family knew we had a pile of presents around us and the cousins were just ripping into presents non stop. Here we were trying to look around and see what everyone got...it was just chaos!! So we take our time. Open one present at a time and guess each and every one. It's fun to wrap really small presents in big boxes so there is no way they can be guessed! We also passed this "guessing" thing on to my stepdaughter. It was really funny to hear a 5 year old guessing her presents..and she was pretty good at it..."Pokemon" or "horse stuff"...she's gotten much better at it too! She's now 14 and at her last birthday I think she guessed just about every present! I was extra careful when I wrapped her Christmas presents this year...there's no way that she can guess them all this time! hA!!
  14. Hummmm, our stockings are still in storage in CO with the house waiting to be sold...wonder if the gnomes can find their way to our house anyway?!? lol
  15. Like Moop..yesterday it was snowy but of course we were out and about doing our errands...luckily I had the blackberry with us and was notified that the cache reaper had visited one of our caches! I made Mr TH go to the cache do we could check it out. It was daylight, so that was good, but there was also about an inch of snow on the ground. I went to the cache and lo-and-behold there was a cache reaper coin! I was thrilled!Thank you sooo much for visiting our cache! (and not destroying it! lol).

  17. I got an awesome package today from Kurdogso! The first picture is Duke checking out the goods (ok, he probably wanted the chocolate coins or something)! So you can see that we got a singing hound dog, chocolate coins, more candy, more candy, and a GeoBoo coin, a BLOODHOUND gang coin (which is SOOO cool and Duke's favorite), a GWS mini van can and a Pirate of Waterman's Bluff coin! VERY COOL!!! Then I decided that I wanted to let the dogs check out the singing hound dog...this was the funniest part of the present...I put it on the floor (singing of course) and let the dogs do their thing! Ozzie went first...then Rosie came in to steal it away...Duke didn't get too much action but I think you'l like the video! http://s51.photobucket.com/albums/f385/sue...hound112908.flv

  24. Holy Crap! I skipped a cache on my way to a conference in Dearborn, MI because it was near a park and ride and the lot was completely full. I stopped on my way back home and went to the cache. It was an ammo box over a hill and down in a copse of trees...there was what I thought was a clear geo-trail...got to the cache and found this coin! I was so excited I forgot to take a picture! But there were a ton of leaves on the ground and it really was a little forest right next to the parking lot! Maybe the geo-trail was bigfoot's trail instead? Thank you so much! I never thought I would find one of these coins! I love the mystery coins! Thank you thank you thank you!
