  1. For what its worth, I have had a couple of dealings with TigerGPS including the return/exchange of opened product (I opened and used it) and they treated me very fairly and sent everything to me quickly without any hassle. My feeling is that they are a pretty decent operation and I wouldn't hessitate to do business with them again. (No affiliation, just a consumers viewpoint)
  2. I own and use a 60cx now but I previously owned a Magellan Explorist 400 which was every bit as accurate as the 60cx at 1/3rd the price. (I upgraded to the 60cx for the bells and whistles I think gpsblake gave some good advise on the 210 or any Explorist for that matter. With the price of a Magellan so low who needs customer service on the off chance that something should happen, just throw the thing away and buy another one.
  3. This looks to be exactly what I need for my 60cx. Are there any possible wear issues with the cradle similar to what Thrak mentioned for his 76 series (see quote below), or is the Ram cradle "safe" on the 60 series? Has anyone used this for a long time? Thrak wrote: "I have a 76 series, not a 60 series, but I also had severe issues with the RAM mounting cradle. It totally destroyed the rubber on my 76 series due to putting it into and taking it out of the mount a ton of times."
  4. One way to do this is to put the GPSr into USB mode and connect to your computer. You should then be able to see the space available / used of the newly mounted drive which will be your GPSr's SD card.
  5. Thank you Red90, that was very informative and it inspired me to test further. I drove to work today and turned track logging on and off 3 times along the way. When I got home I imported my tracks using Mapsource and found that Active Log, Active Log2, and Active Log3 had been imported. These logs matched the 3 times that I turned on track logging. Next, I went ito usb mode as you suggested and sure enough there was a 20060727.gpx file that I could transfer to the computer and import into Mapsource. When I did this I got Active Log081121, Active Log83514, and Active Log 172573. These 3 logs were mirror copies of the 3 Active Logs that I had imported using Mapsource. So bottom line, It looks like you can not only import the active logs in USB mode, but you can also import the active logs directly with Mapsource as well. Thanks again Red90 for your help explaining this feature!
  6. As a way to learn about the many features of this GPSr I pick one and then try to use it in some way. The past couple of days I have been trying to figure out tracks and don't quite understand what is going on, I'll provide an example..... Before going to work, I turn on the gps and clear out any existing saved tracks and clear the track memory. Then I turn track log on and drive to work. Once I arrive, I turn off the track log, save the track as "morning", and turn off the GPSr. In the afternoon when I drive home I turn the unit back on, turn on track log and drive home. Once home, I stop track log again and save the log as "afternoon". Now when I view the Saved Tracks on the GPSr it appropriately shows just 2 entries "morning" & "afternoon" as the only saved tracks. Here's where I could use some clarification.. When I upload the tracks into Mapsource I end up getting 4 entries instead of just the 2 that show on the GPSr, "morning", "afternoon #2", active log, & active log #2. The active logs seem to be copies of the morning & afternoon tracks but with more complete data, like leg speed for each index point and also elapsed time and average speed. What are these logs and why can't I just have the extra data that they collect put into my named & saved tracks? One more thing. I don't seem to remember having these logs prior to doing these 2 things: 1) I updated the software and firmware to the latest versions. 2) I configured my tracks to be stored on the SD memory card. Thanks for any info.
  7. "'I'm very sorry to hear that. You have my sincere condolence." What a witty response, I am still not laughing. To my knowledge there are no "from the manufacturer" Mac ready GPSr's out there today, however Garmin is expected to release Mac specific software later this year so you may want to lean in that direction. As far as a solution right now, there are a number of Mac GPS applications available that you can use to transfer geocache waypoints from your Mac. I use GPSBabel which will work with both Magellan and Garmin units, and probably others. The topic is too broad to provide a lot of information so I will leave it up to you to scan the forums and glean the information, it is all there. It is a steep learning curve but certainly within reason if you truly have interest.
