  1. If it's for sale and you like it, buy it!

I agree. I've never met any of the cachers of the personal coins I have. If they're selling them, especially on the forums and other websites, I think that means they want anyone to be able to buy them.

  2. You've got to be one of the most ambitious coin guys out there!

    Seattle is a GREAT idea

I guess the space needle is the icon there...

how about a character for the front of the coin?

The Space Needle is probably the number 1 icon for Seattle. A few others might be a Ferry boat or the Pike Place Market.

  3. We are very happy to tell you that the "Geocaching Skills" coins can be preordered from now on.

    Please click here

The center part was a little bit tricky, but we found a solution for this (which means that we will finish the coins by ourselves!) So you'll get real german handwork

    Best wishes,

    Sepp & Berta

You need to add United States into your dropdown for "Country" and need a place for "State"...

I'd love to order these....but would like some idea of cost in $US

When I first tried to order, USA wasn't listed, but it is listed now.

  4. The Prject A.P.E. caches were set up for the movie, Planets of the Apes. The gold tickets were purchased by people that ahad actually found an A.P.E. cache, the silver for those of us that haven't (yet) found one.

Here's the press release about Project A.P.E.

20th Century Fox has launched a really unique promotion for its Planet of the Apes film: using global positioning satellite (GPS) technology, fans can get involved in an interactive scavenger hunt search for hidden caches of props that were used in the film. The first person to successfully find out the location of the cache and reach it will get to keep the authentic prop!

Fox is calling this contest "Project A.P.E." (www.projectape.com -- the A.P.E. standing for "Alternative Primate Evolution"), and officially launched it yesterday. Using the new online gaming technology called Geocaching, every Friday the film's Official website will supply new coordinates which can be used to determine the location of the latest hidden cache. The contest will run for 13 weeks, allowing a lucky thirteen individuals the chance to be the first to walk away with the exclusive Apes goodies. For those of you who don't have GPS system right now, every Friday the website will also give away a Garmin eTrex GPS unit to a randomly selected winner.

There's also some hidden clues embedded in the Project A.P.E. game that, we're told, are important to the film's storyline. These secrets will "unlock long-hidden secrets that could present a clue to our past - or a key to our future," said the studio.

This week's operation is called "Devil's Spoon" and is located in California at the coordinates N 37° 50.759 W 121° 56.041. You can view maps and discover clues about the location of the cache by visiting the Project A.P.E. website, as well as finding out what was in the cache when its eventually discovered. Remember, if you missed out on this week's hunt, every Friday a new location will be announced for the next three months!

  5. I know that I "reserved" on the other thread, but I went ahead and put in the order on the order form...

I also reserved on the other thread, but filled out the order form too.

  6. Those codes are available at the http://www.geocoinclub.com

I don' think it's explained very well, but geocoins are basically travel bugs, so once you get the activation code, then go to the geocaching home page and click on the link on the side to track travel bugs, then click on the link to activate your travel bugs. Fill in the tracking number on the coin, your activation code, and viola! Give it a name and mission (or leave it blank, the default mission is to just travel from cache to cache) and fill in your info and you're good to go.

Be careful! Geocoins are very addicting!

  7. There is a night cache in the Tacoma area I have been watching ever since it came out. Control The Night sounds like a reallly fun one. Too bad it is so far away from Battle Ground WA.

Night caches are fun! Give it a try. I'd recommend using a LED flashlight, they seem to pick up the glints extremely well. I'd also highly recommend the Control the Night mentioned above, it's way cool!

  8. It seems like I'm in the minority but Summer is my favorite season for caching. The days are longer, it hardly rains, and the temp is usually in the 80's. Perfect!!

I'd have to agree with Summer. It's been depressing lately. But the time I get off of work, I only have maybe 2 hourse to geocache before it gets dark. Of course, all the parks close at dusk...sigh. I'm really missing the long Summer days where I can be out till after 9 before it got dark.

  9. One of the reasons I placed THIS night cache was because I wanted to do something very different than the usual "follow the glints", which always seemed a little weak on GPS use to me. There haven't been any daylight finds yet that I'm aware of. Even if someone was able to find all of the other waypoints during the day, you still can't see the laser at the final in the daylight.

I've done this cache (a few times) and can attest it would be really hard to do in daylight. The first time we did it, it wasn't quite dark yet, and we had a heck of a time seeing the blinking LED. It's very small and not noticable in the dalight, but once it got dark, it was pretty cool.

  10. I have noticed that jeep pictures for the September theme are not being posted. I know we can't vote for any till Oct 1, but I like looking over the pictures as they come in. I have been able to see a few of the entries by going to the Jeep Home Page and then the link for Travel Bug Movements and look for "Submitted Goal" posts. Did I miss something? They must be waiting to post all the entries on Oct 1!

Well... I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

At lest I got my picture in for the September theme.

I just looked and they're posted now.

  11. Any idea when invoices will be sent out? I did reserve five but never got an confirmation mail. Now I am a bit anxious if my reservation got through...

I too sent to you, & your supplier a committment for your coins as well. This supplier needs to step up tp the plate for you and commit a shipping date, invoice etc for those coins we committed to buying from them.

They are a great coin and some word would be nice to those of us willing to support this nice coin.

Then again I want to get something going for my coins too so we will talk...

I just got an invoice for this about 5 minutes ago
