Welcome!!! We started Geocaching for the same reason you stated..to get out of the house! It has worked for us. I think you're already off to a good start by coming to the forums. Read through each section, they all touch on something you'll have questions about later. There's a wealth of info here, so you'll be ready by the time your Gpsr shows up.
For some it's just a game, for others it's a sport, or hobby. It's whatever you want it to be. You'll see that people "play" differently, and that's ok. Just have fun! I grew up in the area I'm in, and I'm still surprised by all the different parks and areas I've never been to and never knew were even there until we started Geocaching!

I've seen lots of tutorials and posts about using a Palm for paperless caching, but not much on using a Windows PocketPC. What programs do you use for this?

My Secret Santa package arrived today!!! It was so nice to come home to that after a few hours of shopping! AND, I got 4 coins (none of which I already had!) AND 4 pins!!!!! So cool!!

Generic Micro (believe me, there are plenty of micros around here for this one!)
First To Find (gotta love glow!)
and my most favorite, a Mustang Joni coin and pin set!! I've been wanting one of these since she kicked everyones a** on the Orient Express game!

Mine arrived today to the Detroit, Michigan area and they look pretty cool.
One small problem though....the "Intellience" coin was messed up, it has the right stone affixed to it but the coin is for the "Stamina" one. Must be "fun" trying to keep all the coins and stones correctly matched up. I'm sure the seller will get it fixed for me!
Yea, I got one with the vision stone, but a stamina coin. I don't care though, I can see all the hard work they put into it and I think they turned out great!

I bought if from Provantage a few weeks ago. They shipped it pretty quickly, but I haven't seen it used yet as it is a Christmas present. The packaging looked good though.

Thanks coreynjoey!!! I was admiring Danoshimano's new coin photos (he and Glenn sure have coin photography figured out!) when I reloaded and saw your post. Cool!!
I checked to see what part of BC... and found out that it was HERE!!! Not Sooke, not Nanaimo, but VICTORIA! We grabbed the canine from the couch, two of our unactivated HFT coins and headed out the door.
20 minutes later we were parked nearby. Mr. LS has a new gps (new to him) and for some reason, even though ours are the same model, his had 5m accuracy and mine had 13m! He was standing by the cache while I was searching in the holly bushes! This cache had eluded us twice before at dusk, but today with daylight and a trail of fairy dust we soon had the cache in hand. Thanks TGF!!!

Well, we'll be traveling to upstate NY, Auburn to be exact on Wednesday the 13, and only staying till the 17th. I'm not sure if there are any coiners (my newly created term for coin collectors) in that area. I've seen some names in Cache logs that I recognize from this forum. In anycase...if you'll be around Auburn NY get in touch with me, we might just be able to meet face to face! If you can't get to Auburn while we're there, well we'll be leaving some things behind!
If you ever find yourself on the west coast, I'd sure like to see one of your coins! I used to play UO back in the day!
