  5. Hi there!!!! GeoBoo is ALOT of fun! We will have tons of kids activities as well as adult activities. We will even have a haunted house!!! This is pretty much a meet and greet halloween party! It is a pot luck, so please bring a dish to share. Costumes are not required, of course.....but there is a costume contest! Hope you can make it!!! The coordinates for the tombstones will be posted here and in the cowws.net forums COWWS Forum Keep on checking as the first one should appear on Monday!!
  6. We had so much fun last year, we had to do this again! So, here it goes: GeoBoo will be featuring the Golden Tombstone game this year. It's based on the "Golden Ticket" idea only we're using tombstone... and they're not golden they're gray little cement guys... but they're still going to get you a great prize if you find one and bring it to the GeoBoo. Here's how this works! Over the next 9 weeks we, the Shop99er Event BooCrew, will be hiding little cement tombstones around the Pacific Northwest. The tombstones are NOT hidden in caches and where they may not be hidden following the rules of normal cache placement. So think inside and outside the box when you search for them. At regular intervals we will post the coordinates to a tombstone location. Go hunt the tombstone like a regular cache. When you find him TAKE HIM HOME WITH YOU!!! Then, bring him with you to the GeoBoo, show him to one of the hosts and claim your special prize! Easy as that! Of course there are a few guidelines for hunting these tombstones. They are: 1) Only one Golden Tombstone per caching family. Doesn't matter if you all have different caching names. If you live under one roof or cache in the same group you are a 'caching family'. 2) No counterfeit tombstones will be accepted. We can identify each tombstone we have hidden by special markings. 3) When you find a tombstone you need to post on the thread that you have found it so that others will know that it's been claimed. 4) You MUST be present at the GeoBoo to claim your prize.
  7. Please sign me up for poker! Corey of coreynjoey
  8. That guy sure does get around! Congrats on 7500 FunnyNose!!
  9. Twitter came in very handy over the July 4th weekend when the geocaching.com website was down. If it wasn't for all the geocachers on there spreading the word about what was going on and re-posting what Jeremy was saying, I wouldn't have known what was going on. That, and it makes stalking so much easier for me...
  10. Congrats!!! Welcome to the 4 digit club!
  11. http://www.heavens-above.com For you Twitter users, @twisstalert will send you a message telling you when the ISS will be visible from your area.
  12. The GeoWoodstock VIII webpage is up and registrations for the event are now open! In changing the site over to next years event, we set-up a new forum section, so the link above about the cruise no longer works. You will find the cruise info on the home page now.
  13. WOW!! We just got home from the coast and this wonderful coin was waiting in our mailbox! What a beauty! I feel very honored to have received one of these. I don't spend nearly as much time in here as I used to (mainly to avoid temptation ) but it's nice to know that someone out there is still thinking of me We're part of the planning committee for GeoWoodstock VIII, so we'll need all the Luck and Protection we can get in the coming year, that's for sure!! Thank You Mystery Geocoin Giver! You're thoughtfulness and generosity are very much appreciated!
  14. While I'm in the 'I love my GPS, it's perfect in every way' camp, I do know people that haven't been as lucky. And what I hear from those people is that DeLorme's customer service has been top notch in getting those issues resolved for them. So for me, it's nice to know that if something ever does go wrong with my unit, I feel like it'll be taken care of.
  15. I use the battery pack that the Cowboy pointed you to. They make a big difference! We've been on a few all-day caching sprees and they lasted over 12 hours...that's 12 hours of constant use, never being turned off! I regularly have good WAAS lock. It's normal for my accuracy to read 6ft. My only real complaint with the PN-40 would be the auto-routing. It's not that great compared to other units, but we have an in-car unit, so it's not an issue for us. The paperless features alone I think are worth it! Especially now with the Cache Register widget.
  16. You might want to check out the Regional West and Southwest forum for locals. http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showforum=23
  17. Directly east of Seattle is Tolt MacDonald Park. It's about the same distance as Dash Point is from Seattle.
  18. If you do the textmarks SMS -> field notes -> twitter / FB route, it will post to Twitter when you upload the field notes from Cache Register. I was a bit surprised when that happened and glad I only had 7 finds! That didn't happen when you logged into geocaching.com and uploaded the field notes that way.
  19. Yes! With CR you don't even need to go to geocaching.com, it just uploads the field notes directly.
  20. For those of you thinking about heading up to Canada while in the area, the requirements for crossing the border have changed effective today. You'll need either a passport, a passport card, or an enhanced drivers license. More info can be found here: http://www.getyouhome.gov/html/lang_eng/index.html
  21. Why does my browser say GW VII? The VII forums and VIII forums are both on the Geowoodstock site. Currently, the website has the VII feel to it ;-)
  22. Could it be part of a multi or mystery cache?
