  1. I'm another one of the people who suffered from agoraphobia and panic attacks, I live in a first floor flat and used to not even be able to go to the ground floor to check if i got any post. No way could i go for walks, wondering around aimlessly, I couldn't 'take in the sights' because i was too busy panicing. Caching gave a purpose to going outside that was NICE, a focus so I wouldn't think of horrible things I could panic on and finally got me out of the house
  2. Darn it! i'm only arriving in Japan on saturday evening (from UK) and have to go on a trip with parents on sunday for few days sorry I won't be able to meet another geocacher in Japan. BTW i recommend going on a ride on the yurikagome, it takes you through the new and exciting areas of tokyo around the bay hope you enjoy your stay in Tokyo.
  3. thanks for dropping by my flat to deliver 57 chevy's coins yesterday, nice to meet you! p.s. 57 chevy - the coins are on their way with some other goodies now.
  4. wooo thank you very much, that'll save me a lt of confusion about the datums and getting lost
  5. I'm in the UK, and about to go to Japan and Hawaii for the first time since i started geocaching. I'm aware that there are Map datum systems that are specific to some countries, but got rather confused the more i investigated it. so... right now, i use the first coordinate that is shown on the cache page, e.g. N 51° XX.YYY W 000° ZZ.000 and my GPSr (Etrex legend Cx) is set to WGS-84 (i think?). My question is, can i look up a cache in japan or hawaii, and use the first coordinate on the page (the largest font one), plug it into my GPS and be able to find the cache? or will i need to change the datum setting on my GPS first? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me
  6. I would cry and cry and cry (new owner of Etrex Legend Cx). I was out caching with another cacher couple of weeks ago and he thought he had left his at the previous cache, but it turned out it had slipped under my "numerous" bags (i only had the rucksack as storage and a waist bag!) in the car, but apparently he does this often, which makes me shudder in terror...
  7. ohhh so that's why my partner is ALWAYS bothered by them and I'm not!! (there's a foot in height difference between us) and i always thought i was just lucky/patient/no-so-edible-looking
  8. Mine came today, absolutely stunned at how quickly it came considering it was only posted in the states on friday!! the coin is great, and the person i bought the coin for (Petey) is very happy too. Thank you!
  9. There is a couple (maybe three?) multies around the second area i tend to cache in, that have 7 or 8 stages with a micro at the end... somehow, it doesn't motivate me, and thus far haven't done them yet, and probably won't until i either run out of other caches to do in that area, or I hear that it's been really good to do that cache.
  10. either sleep or writing my paper.... and i miserably failed to do either so far...
  11. thanks for picking one up, as far as i know, you're the first person to move a postcard along shall pay a visit to the cache this week to see how it is
  12. I have exactly the same problem, can't open or close them... so i don't know what i'm doing prepping a large ammo can which currently sits my living room. I have to keep getting the OH to open it for me as for micros, I know couple of micros that I was really glad i hunted, stunning locations. However it does put me off somewhat when i look on the map and it looks like i have to walk miles just for a micro. This doesn't make sense though, because i hardly ever trade (but always leave swags), so really, the size of the cache or its contents shouldn't really bug me..... no, even i don't understand that....
  13. I recieved my coins this evening (hand delivered no less!), i'm sorry i was on the phone so could not meet the person who delivered it personally, but thank you! the coins are STUNNING, and I'm so glad i bought them! thank you for my first geocoin, it's so beautiful!
  14. that's no problem I will try to be NOT on the phone this time! many thanks!
  15. *hears her wallet crying and sobbing in the corner* please don't torture the poor thing, it's rocking itself backwards and forwards with its head in its hands... (the coin design looks absolutely stunning!)
  16. I recieved my coins this evening (hand delivered no less!), i'm sorry i was on the phone so could not meet the person who delivered it personally, but thank you! the coins are STUNNING, and I'm so glad i bought them! the only thing is that I think I was suppose to get 57 Chevy's coins as well, although there may be a mix up? I have emailed chevy to see what's going on thank you for my first geocoin, it's so beautiful!
  17. i haven't heard anything yet, but really hope i get to buy this coin and i'm very proud of being a Leo and would love this coin
  18. to add to bogleman's post, if someone performs a emergency first aid on your cache, and post about it to let you know, does it really hurt to send them a quick email thanking them? if you can't look after your caches, and if you can't even send a thank you email, should you really have so many caches? (this isn't anyone in particular, i've seen alot of this go on)
  19. do you ship to the UK? went to the site but the shipping was fixed at $3 or $3.50 (can't remember now), which i know is way too low for international shipping.
  20. gazooks, I think you can put it in any cache, as long as it fits the card! I had a discussion with another cacher last night about what a geopost office can offer, that's different from other caches, and conculded for either a original postcard for the post office (such as one offered in my cache), and/or a post office stamp (like location and cache code or something) that people can stamp their post cards with. also i think when i make the new batch of postcards, I will mark it on the back to say that the cachers who moves the postcards can sign their name on it so that it shows a track of who helped it move.
  21. I've just realised i posted this on signautre item thread couple of days ago instead of posting it here (OOOPS)!! now i look like a right weirdo on that thread..... *hides* ---- I have now created a UK GeoPost Office bookmark, so if you creat one in the UK, please inform both Zonker&Co and myself (of course i will keep an eye on this thread as Zonker&Co has eagle eyes for new geopost offices!)
  22. there's no strict rules as to the above questions, although common sense would say that you should have "GeoPost Office" somewhere in the cache title. mine is called "Preston GeoPost Office (Motorway Mayhem M6 J31)" long winded by it'll get picked up on searches done for both "geopost office" and "motorway mayhem". as for the container, the ones in USA and canada seems strictly post cards and TBs only, but I've just made a normal cache with all the swags. The only difference between the normal cache and my one is that it has some blank postcards, and also a bag labeled "to send" so people know where to look for cards to possibly move on. oh and also permanent markers for people to write on the cards with (although i don't think anyone has yet, they keep taking the post cards home to fill out..... must check to see if they have dropped it off in the cache... )
