  1. There are tons of caches in the Falls Lake area, good for hiking or throwing a line in the water. If you feel like going a bit further, I just planted one - "puckstopper's I-85 Travel Bug Rest Stop" in Granville County, it will post in a couple days, if not on the website yet, it's at 36 14.213, 078 38.206. Trade or move a bug, or come for an easy first to find.
  2. I've noticed that when I move travel bugs, the system does not update the miles that the bug has travelled, it will just mark the new location. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to do something different when logging a bug into a new cache?
  3. I am an owner of a Sportrak Pro. It is a good device, but just a little buyer beware: the owner's manual claims that it is waterproof and floats, mine was dropped in the water and proved not waterproof and broke. I contacted Magellan about warranty and they say that since it's been over a year since I purchased it that it is not covered. I don't understand why there is a time limit to being waterproof, the manager at Magellan told me that that's the policy and that it's the same with the Garmin. Just a little buyer beware.
  4. I'm not necessarily looking for a reply to this thread; just sending out a little buyer beware. My SporTrak Pro was dropped in the water a while back and it malfunctioned. When I contacted Magellan about it, I was treated very rudely and told that if it was purchased over a year ago (it was) that it was not covered. I do not know why there would be a limit to a unit's being waterproof, but that's the policy. I even spoke with a manager who was very disrespectful and I was told that Garmin's policy was the same. It seems they wish to match rather than beat the competition's policy. Maybe a way to beat the system is to "break" your unit just before it goes off warranty and get a new one every year.....????? Just kidding, but if you're looking to buy a GPS, be aware of this rediculous policy.
  5. I'm closing in on my 50th find and I want to make it a good one. If you're in the Ventura or Santa Barbara County, California area, please post your favorite caches. I have the week off next week and I want to grab a bunch. Thanks
  6. NO I am not turning 50, not for a while at least. I will soon search for my 50th cache and I wanna make it a good one. If anyone's reading this in the Ventura or Santa Barbara County, California area, please let me know what some of your favorites were. I have next week off and plan on looking for a BUNCH and maybe planting a couple. Thanks!
  7. I'm a FedEx driver, and I go caching occasionally on my lunch, unfortunately, there are scarce few caches in my area. I've planted one and have a few more in mind to hide.
  8. Hey, thanks. Wish I could get that info on amazon or brunton, but your answer is just as good Happy caching to you S
  9. I was tooling around amazon today and came across the brunton 8096 gps eclipse compass. In the description it says it has "UTM roamer scales and confidence circles [to] compensate for GPS inaccuracies" Does anyone have any idea what this means? There was no other details or explanations, not even on the brunton website.
