You'd be much better off putting your £50 towards a better unit anyway. I reckon you may have had a lucky escape there, going by others comments about the 38.

NIMBY?
Of course, it may not even be a NF Ranger: could be someone who simply lives in the area and regards the whole forest as his/her private garden and regards the presence of anyone who likes to have fun there as something not to be tolerated. Kind of an unofficial, self-appointed warden, I suppose. I know for a fact that people like this do actually exist (not necessarily in the New Forest: please don't think I'm saying anyone who lives there is a wrongun, 'cos that's not what I mean at all).
I suppose as not all humans are good people, we just gotta put up with folks like this.
All the more reason for not pointing fingers in any direction whatsoever, as it really could be anyone.
Until someone has the guts to stand up and say "it was me" then nothing can be done (and I mean along the lines of being nice about it and opening a discussion on the benefits of geocaching, not a public hanging! ), until then I guess we oughta just leave the Forest be and also let be whichever narrow-minded trasher who lives there.

SimonG found one of my caches whilst it was temporarily disabled. The box was still in place but I'd decided to convert it to a virtual as a secondary path was forming (among other reasons) and I'd not yet been able to visit the site to remove the cache. Of course, I let the log stay. Especially as I got one of Simons rather natty bookmarks when I removed the cache!

You're probably better off using Lat/Lon as not all of the British Grid co-ordinates are written properly (well, technically they are but not always in an easily useable form).
Depending upon what sort of GPS you have, you may be able to get it to show Lat/Lon and British Grid at the same time, which is useful if you're using ordnance survey maps whilst out walking (which is a very good idea so you can see where public footpaths are among other reasons!)

For shame, Tim! Fancy forgetting your 2nd cachiversary like that...

In Omally's first year he has put a lot of effort into setting some very challenging caches one of which we are still looking foward to doing.
You'll hate Merman and me afterwards, you really will... Hey, I'm not taking all the blame!
By the way, I decided to celebrate by remembering my Paypal password so I'm now a charter member! Woohoo! Now I can have a crack at After Dark!!

Wasn't asking for a backslap!
I was just curious as to what others have done to celebrate... Hmmm, have I now started a new trend in celebratory threads?!
Well since you ask, (hey, you at the back: wake up!) the Highs have been all about finding stuff:
1. Finding some really nice places to while away a sunny afternoon (and, *shock* *horror* actually forget about ammo-boxes and many other things besides for a hour or two).
2. Meeting some of the warmest, friendliest people since I left the village of my upbringing.
3. Finding something better to do with my time than just sitting here typing away at my keyboard... um, hang on ...
Lows? well the only lows I can think of would be reading some of the unpleasant posts that pop up from time to time. But then , as my dear old nan says:
"If you don't have a little rain, how can you know that sunshine is good?"
Happy Unbirthday? Does this mean I have to Unbuy everyone an Uncake? Could work out Unexpensive...
Anyway, what has everyone else done for their Cachiversary? (and can we get that in the next revision of the Oxford English Dictionary?)
