If so, highlight one of the fields on it with the rocker button, press enter and select "location(selected)" from the pop-up menu. Now change another field to "location (lat/lon)" and hey presto: you have OS and lat/lon at the same time. It's not something I use that much, but it comes in handy sometimes. "Woof" quoth he. 2. Yeah, what he said! Additionally, you may want to go camping, as there are lots of good sites on the island (especially the one at Appuldurcombe). I take it you're aiming at a couple of days caching? If so, you should *probably* be able to do the lot. Still, keep an eye out for more special offers on cheap ferry crossings (you can sign up for a notification email via that website) and plan around that if you can. The Solent is, so I'm told, the most expensive body of water to cross in the country so take advantage of any offers that come up. Above all, enjoy it! "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally
  3. At least your foot is in better condition than Dan's... "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally
  4. LandRanger, by your own admission you are indeed a sock-puppet. I understand your possible concerns about burglary etc hence the new persona, but surely you don't feel the need to contradict yourself if you're an experienced cacher and forum-user? "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally

  10. Evnin' all! I've put some photos I took at the Farley Mount Bash on my website, but I only managed to get a few. Does anyone have any good snaps they'd be willing to share? If so, I'd be honoured to put them up on my site. Please email them to me (zip 'em up first!) and I'll add them. Thanks y'all! "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally
  11. Aha! I think it was on "You and Yours". I'm scanning the whole programme to find the relevant bit. Not sure how to record it though. Anyone clever enough? "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally
  12. Any idea what programme it should be on? I have the radio 4 player going at the moment but I can't find the right slot... "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally
  13. quote:Originally posted by Mrs Wood Smoke:I realise that a great anniversary present for Mr Woodsmoke would have been to spend £17.50 on a superduper weapon of mass water destruction, so he too could have played in the water fight. Good job he didn't: being a fireman, the opposition would have been "washed out"! "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally
  14. quote:Originally posted by Ben Pid: quote:PS: you & Pid missed a fun night-cache!!!! It included a locked ladder to get to a cache container up a tree (that then told you the cache was actually at the BASE of the tree); a wireless doorbell; a walkie-talkie, and a crate full of drink! 16. WOW! What a great day we had! If anyone reading this is thinking about trying some of the IOW caches (yes, there's only 11 here, but you will not do them all in one day!) I'd say you could do a lot worse than teaming up a quartet and driving 'round the Island... the Vectis series was great fun, just the right level of difficulty (mental and physical) and some great scenery to boot. There are plenty other caches besides the ones we found, so I guess another visit will be in order soon... Thankyou to Keith from Motley Crew and Pharisee for teaming up with Merman and myself, can't think of a better bunch of blokes to go caching with! "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally

  18. Huge thanks to everyone who helped out on the Multicache, there was so much positive feedback from the Geommuggles that tried it! I heard so many kind comments about the enthusiasm and friendliness of all of you that led the way, there is only one possible conclusion to be drawn: You are all great!! Hope I didn't make you work too hard whilst I was sitting around all day... Give yourselves a jolly good pat on the back! The whole event has left me with a dirty great grin from ear to ear that won't even get washed off by being pinned down and soaked by a whole bunch of water-pistollers! . I've not felt vibes this good for ages I'm proud to be a Geocacher and I'm proud to have met so many wonderful people willing to give up their weekend to have fun and show other people how to have fun at the same time. Such a good family atmosphere, too. I suppose I'd better start one of my own then... any offers?! Especially well done the Bramblers! I thank you both so much for organising the event: you've helped make an awful lot of people extremely happy! Can we do it again next month? "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. 20. quote:Originally posted by Krazy Kats:But the event's not till tomorrow??????????? Better get my face on then for later!!!!! There are two BBC crews: one tonight doing a sort of pre-amble, and one tomorrow doing something else. ITV are also there tomorrow, so I hope there won't be a punch-up! quote:Better get my face on then for later!!!!! Just a quick shave and a change of glasses should be fine "Woof" quoth he. 21. Anyone wanna be famous? BBC South Today will be filming the event LIVE TONIGHT at 6:45 p.m. Also, ITV (Meridian? ) are going to be there on Saturday to do their own bit of filming. That rocks! "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally
  22. quote:Originally posted by Kouros: In all seriousness, Dan, hope you get well soon. Yes indeed, good luck Dan. Shame you can't come along old chap: can't think of a better pair of geezers to show Geomuggles how to go caching! "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally

  24. The Merman and myself will be doing a spot of caching on the Isle of Wight after the HCC event. Thanks to a good heads-up from Mr & Mrs Hegehog on the GAGB fora, there's a good discount (£25 return) to get over for the day in a car with 1 driver and 3 passengers. I have two spare seats in the Omallymobile if anyone would like to tag along and bagsy some caches on the Wight (FCFS, obviously) otherwise, book for yourselves (look for the "ferry offers" section). Must add: I'm nothing to do with the ferry company, just seems a good idea to fill up your Sunday after the HCC event if you've come a fair distance. "Woof" quoth he. Oh, and "Grrr" also. Omally
