  1. If your camera only allows you to take pix of 100k or less you must have an old, old camera or a setting that needs changing, or a very, very small memory card.
  2. I read the guidelines for hiding a cache and one of the things it stated was that you should go back now and again and check up on it, to be sure it's still in tact, well hidden, etc. I'm new to this, but my girlfriend and I have discussed leaving a cache at a rest stop on our way to our vacation destination, and another near the resort where we're staying. Should we stick with leaving only local caches?
  3. I've had my Visor for about a year and have no complaints. I got a GPS Companion for it just days ago and, again, have no complaints. I am, however, a newbie to GPS and geocaching (although on my first and second journeys out my girlfriend and I had success). I've never seen GPS-only units so I can't comment on them, but I do love having the ability to download stuff to the Handspring Visor. I just downloaded a Hint Decoder (link at geocaching.com) that'll save me a few minutes. I've downloaded some other software that I'm just now starting to look at. Yeah, the Visor/Companion combo looks a little geeky (not as rugged as the GPS-only units I've seen photos of), but it works!
  4. I've read a few FAQs on this, but they weren't very helpful. Sorry if this is elementary stuff, but then this is the section for newbies. I'm not understanding waypoints. I know they refer to a location, but is every waypoint different, or is each just a sort of 'shortcut' title a person gives to a position? I see waypoints attached to geocache locations... if I plug them in to my GPS Companion software does that automatically bring up my destination? If not, how are people coming up with waypoints to attach to geocaches they've hidden? [This message was edited by pook on August 25, 2002 at 03:07 PM.]
