  1. The Geocaching App. for the iPhone, Android, and other SmartPhones provides for searching for "Nearby Caches". Does anyone know of a hand-held GPSR that can use this feature? I use this App. ( with my iPhone ) on occasion and find it particularly useful when traveling far afield from my home computer. The "problem" when using this App. with the iPhone is one of power consumption - at best maybe an hour or two and the iPhone's battery is drained ! Yes, I could take a laptop along and get the same information, but find it bulky and cumbersome. A true GPSR that could utilize this feature would really be great !
  2. Believe I have an answer to my own "question" - With a little more "experimentation" I've found the following ... The Nuvi will NOT accept a "bundled" list of caches ( as can be produced using GSAK's export utility. If I load each and every .GPX file individually, each and every one now appears under "Geocaches". Not exactly quick, if you have say, 30 or 40 caches you want to seek for the day ... Hope Garmin puts out a software update that will allow for this !
  3. Just purchased the Nuvi 500 and was quite impressed with what it can do. Am using it to locate the caches and then "switch over" to my "60" for the final 50 ft. The problem I'm having is that when I connect the Nuvi to my PC, locate the Garmin\GPX folder and then load the .GPX file with the caches I want to search for, when I then query "Geocaches" it returns a "No Geocaches Loaded" message. By loading, erasing, reloading I have occasionally managed to get the info into the Geocache section but more often than not, I find it under "Favorites" instead. The "Manual" is quite "sketchy" about loading, saying just to put the info in the Garmin\GPX folder ... Comments, suggestions ??
  4. Just received my 60CSx today from Amazon. What was in their package was... The GPSMAP 60CSx The "Owner's Manual" The "Quick-Start Guide An "Ad" for MapSource A "Bonus" USB Cable - Garmin to PC/PC to Garmin A Mapsource "Trip & Waypoint Manager" CD, which includes the USB Drivers That's it...nothing more I'll have to purchase the Mapsource US Topo Cd's ( ~$100.00 ) and I had purchased seperately, a carrying case and a suction window mount. You can find all sorts of (expensive) "goodies" if you visit Garmin's website.
  5. Have 4 of the "New" "Bugs" that I purchased. Like everything, but wonder what the longevity of just the "printed" ID Number will be, as opposed to the "Stamped" ID used on the previous design... Time will tell I guess....
  6. Oh well, leave it to me to find something "rare" ... Thanks for the replies ...
  7. Nope, Cache was GCXEBP... ( Just was curious as to why it was delisted so quickly...( guess that's the proper term to use ).) Thanks.
  8. Announcement received that new cache in my area had been "released". Printed page with Name, coordinates, etc. and went on the hunt. ( I was a "Second-to-find" that AM ). Logged my find and received "credit" on my Personal stats for the "find". Went on to other business... Came back later in day to print data sheet with my comments and site came up with "Error....this cache has not been "released"". What gives? If, ( as I suspect ) the cache was "pulled" for some reason, why wasn't the cache simply placed "on-hold for maintenance " (or something) instead of apparantly dissappearing altogether? . If the "Owner" pulled the cache, it would be nice to know...
