  1. I'm having this issue too, but I can't seem to make your workaround work. Looks like deleting the route and reuploading it worked!
  2. Wow, thanks for that list! It will come in handy.
  3. I'm guessing that this is probably a long shot, but here goes. I'm looking for the 2006 Kansas geocoin (specifically this one in whichever finish). I'd really like an unregistered one. Does anyone have any idea where I can go to look for one? I've done a Google search, but I'm not having much luck. You can email me through my profile if you have any info.http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?act=post&do=edit_post&f=44&t=108970&p=2951518&st=8300 Edit Post
  4. So the cache log post could be like this: June 12 by Team Mini: minibaby (1 found) & miniwoman (2 found) & miniman (3 found)... That has some potential. I like it. that is exactly what I had in mind when I originally posted.
  5. If you visit a regular cache more than once for whatever reason do you log it more than once? You probably write a note. However long an event is you can really only attend it once. Where is the point in which it is no longer acceptable? If you are absent 7 days? Leave for a few hours? Go get ice at the convenient store? Drop a few friends off at the pool?Go to the bathroom? Retrieve something from your car? Why not attend once and write a note for the rest of your logs? Other than not changing your numbers, it would at least keep your event count more accurate. But my event count is accurate. I've attended 6 different events that happen to use the same cache page. Just because it uses one cache page doesn't mean that it's a continuation of the same event. It's just easier to keep everything together if it's all on one page.
  6. I about spit my water all over my keyboard when I read that one. Thanks!
  7. I don't like the ideal of blocking more than one attended log per event, solely because sometimes events are recurring. We started a monthly event in December of 2006, and I've attended 6 (of 7) times. I've logged all 6 times as attended, because it's been a different event each month (different people, different TB/coins, different conversations, etc). So, if you blocked it to one attended log per event, I'd have to recreate the event every month. That doesn't make much sense when I can just change the event date to the next month, and keep everything in once place. I guess there COULD be the option to set an event as recurring (plus it might allow us cache owners who forget to update the date once in a while), and then you could log once for each cycle. I'd be ok with that. In my case it isn't about the count, because I actually know how many unique caches I've found in addition to the number on my profile, but I want my logs to be accurate. Others who have attended multiple times post a note after the first time, and that's cool too. As far as "bogus" logs for temp caches, I'm totally not down for that, but as someone said very early on in this thread, why not let people play the game how they want to play the game.
  8. Some how I think I got lost in the logic of all that. But I will say this, it says nothing of the parent if they can't say thanks and teach thier child to respect others and say thanks. Oh thanks for your comments. Regards Andrew You completely missed the point of my post. Typing something once and signing from two people isn't any less thankful than typing something twice. In most cases, they only end up logging once because one signs for both instead of one who can't or doesn't want to log in to a separate account. I guess I'm just used to people in my area that care more about other people's enjoyment than they care about receiving praise for their gift. And thanks for the sarcasm. I guess I'm done posting here. Sarcasm wasn't warranted or invited. Almost every suggestion I've made here has gotten some kind of snarky or sarcastic response, and that kind of kills the fun for me. I appreciate it. Really, I do.
  9. I have no idea when my friends joined the site, but I do know their names. I would much rather have them alpha order when I go to find one to send an email or something. At the very least can we have the option of how we want to sort?
  10. Couldn't agree more. Don't take much to say "thanks." Regards Andrew What if that cacher is a one year old baby who's parent created a login for them so that when they're old enough to understand it can see how many caches they did with daddy? Should daddy have to log the same thing multiple times? In that case, the baby isn't REALLY saying thanks, so it shouldn't mean more than if the log says Daddy and Baby found the cache. Just wanted to bring up that idea.
  11. At our monthly meeting, some members of the Wichita Geocaching Society were talking and I wanted to bring this suggestion. I'm not sure if it's been made before or not, but I couldn't find anything. If it has, feel free to link me to the discussion. 1. A couple of members were bummed that a husband and wife have to buy two premium memberships when they do everything together. So either one member doesn't have any premium features, or they have to use their spouse's login to access them, which they don't always want to do. 2. Many times a husband and wife want their own logins in case they happen to do something on their own, but since logging can take a little while, and some caches that they might do are members only, they end up only logging them on one account, so their other account that should have as many finds as the other doesn't. Similarly, when a parent is getting a young kid involved, the kids many times would like their own logins so that they can keep track of what they've done, and get more excited about the hobby. But the parent probably has to do all of the logs, so they might have to write the same log four times for three kids. So, here's a thought, and like I said, it may have already been discussed. How about the idea of "Teams" Basically linking two or three (or however many the limit is set for) logins together as a single team. This could solve both of these issues. 1. The premium membership could apply to all members of the team. That way if one member of the team wants to pay for the membership, they all receive the benefits. Now, I understand that premium membership is in place to help pay for the things that the website needs to keep going. To prevent abuse of the system, maybe a limit to team sizes could be implemented. Maybe a max of four. Maybe there could be another way to help abuse it too, but I'm not 100% sure on what it might be yet. 2. On the log page, team members would have the option of logging for the whole team or logging for themselves, or maybe checkboxes for the team members involved. If they logged for the whole team, each member of the team would receive credit for the find. That would also cut down on some of the logs, as I've seen four logs by four members of the family that were out caching together. This would allow for one log in its place. Anyway, there is probably a lot more to think about with this idea, but I wanted to get it out there as a suggestion.
  12. Thanks you two. I'll be sure to check it out!
  13. Is there a mobile version of the geocaching.com website that either has a separate URL or the site automatically knows that you're on a mobile, so it uses it? I assume that the site doesn't automatically know, because when I view the site on my Blackberry, it's very hard to navigate. I'd like to request a text-only (with maybe just the logo) shell of the site that can be used for mobile devices. When I use my phone to try to find a cache page, I find it difficult, since I have to scroll through all of the main navigation links, which take up a lot of screen space in the image format. Instead there could be a set of text links at the top for all of those links. The search boxes are kind of difficult to navigate also, and when I click on #2 to go to the next page of results, I have issues with javascript. I can manage, and I will. I'm just wondering if there is or are any plans to make it easier on mobile / PDA users, since I think this sport is headed more in the paperless direction, and many use their mobile / PDA, to surf the website, and post logs.
  14. Yeah. I think what I really want is maybe a third option. Maybe some day. For now, at least I think I understand the difference.
  15. No need to be rude. I didn't think about that being an option. As far as I could see, there wasn't any difference between those two options, which is why I posted asking what the difference was. Is the same link that I use to View my lists the link that someone else would use? For example, I go to my bookmark lists, and I have an [Edit] and a [View] link, does that View link work for people who aren't me then? What about a third option then? Shareable - viewable by others if they have the direct link Profile - viewable by everyone (on your profile) Public - viewable by everyone (on the listings)
  16. I see it under "My Bookmark Lists" no matter what option I pick. I see it under "Bookmark Lists" only if I select both options, not if I just select shareable or public. What I'd like is to have it NOT show up on the listing under "Bookmark Lists" but have it show up on my profile under "Bookmark Lists" if that makes sense. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like having two options that you have to check in order to see any change is redundant. I'd like to see one option display it on your profile, and one option display it on the listing, so if you choose both it will show both places.
  17. I have some bookmarks that I've created, and I'd like to show on my profile, because I'd like people to see what I'm up to, or thinking about. However, I don't want them to show up on every listing for everyone to see. As I understand it, the listing has to be both public and shareable in order to display on my profile, but that also displays it on the listings. Why then, are there two separate options that have to both be checked for one or the other to do something? Am I missing some functionality here? Here's what makes sense to me... Shareable - viewable by everyone (from your profile page) Public - viewable by everyone (on the listings) I think that you should be able to have one without the other. You shoudl be able to list on your profile without havin to list on the bookmarks. Or maybe Public should depend on Shareable, but not the other way around. If you want to display them on the individual listings, you have to display them in your profile. Am I missing something? Does this make sense? Is this the right place to make an enhancement request?
