  1. Looking forward to seeing the other side. Order the BN finish plus a few other items while on the website.
  2. We had a great time opening our incoming missions on Christmas Day. Thanks to all our Secret Santas - the packages you sent were absolutely great! Youngest GeoKid is looking forward to tasting all those flavours of Jelly Belly beans. Thanks to Team Fehling's Courtney for sending so many Christmas surprises. Oldest GeoKid's package came all the way from Australia. Thanks very much for sending a geocoin from our "seeking list"! Mrs. GeoKs' parcel including lots of geocoins, her first ever travel buddy and a rock! But it's a very special rock: a Keokuk Geode, which is just perfect for someone who loves earthcaching as much as she does. THANKS! We'd also like to say THANK YOU to Butterfly Lady for doing such an excellent job organizing and running this mission. Bless you!
  3. We were lucky enough to trade for a Dorsetgal and GeoDog geocoin this past summer and really enjoyed reading the story behind the coin. The story behind our personal coin is no-where near as inspiring, but since PLnauta was kind enough to put our "Highwood Pass" geocoin at the start off the thread highlighting some of the 2008 personal geocoin designs, here it is... At 2206 meters (7170 feet), Highwood Pass is the highest point in Canada that can be reached by paved roadway. Many of our favourite hikes in the Canadian Rockies start at the Highwood Pass Day Use parking lot or nearby parking areas and so far we've hidden over a dozen geocaches on the mountains shown in 3D relief on the front of the geocoin. The meadow adjacent to GC1GG69 - Pocaterra Cirque is Mrs. GeoKs' favourite spot in the whole world. We've been hiking with our kids for 5 years now, and always try to be prepared for any eventuality. Even so, there have been a couple of times we've been caught without all the necessary gear, so in addition to full rain gear, tuques (for all you non-Canadians out there, a tuque is a close-fitting winter hat) and gloves for everyone, we now consider all the items shown on the reverse of the coin to be essential geohiking equipment: a good multi-tool, our backpacks with trekking poles, comfortable Gortex-lined hiking books, our camera (the one on the coin is our oldest GeoKid's Canon G9), bear spray and an air horn (to scare any bears away), a good first aid kit, our GPSr, and lots of water and food to keep our GeoKids fueled up while on the trail. The benchmark in the centre of the coin represents the Canada Geodetic Survey marker closest to the summit of Highwood Pass. The marker was installed in the 1950s, but an attempt by the Canadian Geological Survey to confirm its location in the 1980s was unsuccessful. This past summer we tried to locate the marker, without success; we plan to try again next year. Since we received our coins from the mint at the very end of October, we've really enjoyed trading for others' personal geocoins. So far, of all the stories we've heard, we most enjoyed the tale behind Cache_in_Hand's "Adventures in Geocaching Vol #1" geocoin.
  4. Upon reading the last couple pages of posts, it's clear I haven't been following this thread closely enough! I figured by volunteering at the start, one of the witches would eventually make its way to visit the Calgary coven. But I understand that circumstances can change for people, so see the logic in re-confirming interest. Please add us to the list of geocachers who would like a visit from a (geocoin) witch! (We're on the address list).
  5. We haven't posted in this thread before, but have been receiving so many envelopes for trades of our Highwood Pass geocoin that it's time to start sharing! Today we received 9 coins in trade, 4 coins we purchased and a trio of pathtags. We received multiples of 4 coins (different finishes), but I only included one of each design in the photo.

  8. Great icon. Ordered a few of these yesterday and will definitely activate a couple so we can get that icon on our trackables page. Thanks for raising awareness around this important safety issue.
  9. Deputy #239 reporting for duty (with a big smile!). Forgot to mention in my e-mail that I love the "boot" stamp. It's that attention to detail that makes this a truly special mystery coin. Thank you!
  10. Mrs. GeoKs' package arrived today, but it's tucked safely away, at least until the GeoKids' parcels arrive. Thanks to Brett & Bismark!! I can hardly wait to see what's inside.
  11. I know, I know...we had to miss WWFM IV How about Pizza & Beer night on the 27th? Or A Cacher's Christmas Dec 21? BTW, I managed to trade for the original silver geobone the other day!!

    Unity Geocoin

My preference for finishes is also 1. antique copper 2. antique bronze 3. antique silver This is a little surprising, as I amost always prefer the silver / nickel version of any geocoin. It's hard to give a compliment that hasn't already been given. You and CnP did a fantastic job with this design. If you're building a list of people who would like to trade, please add GeoKs to the list of names.

Package Received!: Mrs. GeoKs' outgoing mission went via airmail, as it's on the way to Europe. The GeoKids' outgoing packages to the U.S. went via surface mail.
  14. Thanks to everyone who requested a trade. Any trade where we've finalized terms was either mailed Sunday or will be in the mail tomorrow. While our main interest is in trades for other personal geocoins, we will also consider offers to trade for coins on our seeking list on geocoincollection.net (see link below). See post #1 for our main trading version - the Canadian edition. We also have a 3-coin set available for trade, antique silver with polished nickel, antique copper and antique bronze benchmarks. 25 sets minted. We'll consider trades for multiple coins or VHTF coins. And finally, we have 2 versions in antique bronze, which I guess you could call LEs as only 25 of each were minted. One has a black nickel benchmark and the other an antique silver benchmark. We'll consider trades of LE or HTF coins. Please contact us by e-mail if you're interested in trading. And thanks for all the positive comments!!

  16. Woohoo! We're excited to announce our first personal geocoin "Highwood Pass". Several versions have been minted, but our main trading edition is the "Canadian edition" in antique silver with an antique copper benchmark: 45 mm across 4.8 mm thick The minting process required three 3D dies: one for the front, one for the back and a separate one for the benchmark. "Trackable at geocaching.com" is stamped on the edge of the coin and it will have a custom icon on gc.com. Our Canadian edition (qty = 125) is available for trade only. Please contact us via e-mail if you're interested in trading, preferably for your own personal geocoin. These coins are currently in transit from Victoria to Calgary. Once we have a chance to see the other finishes up close we'll post further details. A special Landsharkz edition (qty = 100), satin nickel with a polished nickel benchmark is available here. Thanks to Helen & Chris at Landsharkz for helping us through the design and minting process. We couldn't have done it without you!! 17. I'm having a different problem. I was added to the list early this year and never had any problems accessing it. But today, when I go to my google docs page, this document is missing!! Help....anyone!?!?

  19. I had the same problem - after you log in using your nickname be sure to scroll down and click the box to show that shipping address is the same as billing...then you should be able to proceed to checkout. I finally got the order through!! No, I was getting a server error...I'm finally getting through but now it seems I'm too late anyway and the items in my cart are no longer available. I got a couple extras - send me an e-mail or pm with the finishes you were after and maybe we can work a trade or re-sale (i.e. reimbursement of actual cost).

  21. Glad to find this thread as I've never had trouble with this request before but am getting the "can only be run once every 7 days" message even though the last request was on July 23. Hubby (Mr. GeoK) will just have to wait (im)patiently for me to udpate our stats to reflect our 2000th find until the query magically shows up in our inbox.
  22. We received our incoming package quite a while ago. We sent our outgoing package on June 21 via air mail to Australia but have not seen any confirmation that it was received.
