  1. I believe that Olar is correct on having to upgrade to 3.15 ver....I tried to upgrade a friends mag with ver 3.08, and ended up with the blue screen of death...Don't know if it was me, or trying from 3.08..as I was able to talk to the unit with Easy GPS before...I just hope that Magellan's service is as good as has been posted from other people with the same problem....Not trying to scare you, just let you know of what might happen...also be aware that you will loose all your stored landmarks...R Without your brain, a map is a piece of coloured paper, a compass is a glorified magnet, and a GPS is a waterproof battery case." 3. The waypoint number GC18AA is the control number issued by geocaching.com for them to keep track off all the caches...That said you can use that number our input your own name or variation of...Just use something that YOU will remember..Once you have hundreds of waypoints in your GPS, it gets hard to remember which is what....You can also use the message area to remind youof what that strange coce you entered is Hope this helped...ps: try the forums search function, bottom right of page Without your brain, a map is a piece of coloured paper, a compass is a glorified magnet, and a GPS is a waterproof battery case." 4. I love my magellan 315...ok that said... To enter a waypoint or landmark...Press Mark, mark screen will come up...At the top you will see a default name LMK001...this ie were you enter the description...hit ENTER, first space will be blank...use the arrow pad to scroll up-down to enter letter...scroll right for next and so on so on so on...once you have a name...Hit ENTER...this is the cooridinates line...using arrow keys scroll right/up,down..entering coord's...for second line ENTER...and same thing...ENTER again... elevation, skip it by Yep, ENTER...If you want a message to remind you what the landmark is ( usally a good idea..) ENTER... scroll etc... ENTER.. you will see Save LMK..ENTER You now have a landmark entered....Now hit GOTO...USER..ENTER..find your landmark 001..ENTER GO find the cache.......I prefer the compass screen.....Found it...YE HA....Hit GOTO..MENU..you will see..CLEAR GOTO???..Yep HIT ENTER........hope this helps...basically each screen has it's own MENU options..ENTER for YES..QUIT for NO...NAV to go forward through screens...QUIT to go backwards.... 6. I was doing cache maintenance yesterday and found one of my micro's laying out in the open about 1 m away from the base of the tree where it was hidden...eerrrrr.....I don't know if the last finder found it there and replaced it there hummm ???? or was just trying to make it easier for the next finder???????? But PLEASE when replacing a cache put it back from where you found it....or....if found laying in the open try to assume (ya I know, maybe within 1m) where it came from and rehide... Thanks Now get back to figuring the Northing, or is it Easting for that next cache....R Without your brain, a map is a piece of coloured paper, a compass is a glorified magnet, and a GPS is a waterproof battery case." 9. I like locationless caches, they are getting me through my first winter as a cache hunter.. Whenever I get the urge to fill a log, i'm motivated to go for a walk to bag one...And the fun of trying to catch the only yellow jeep in town parked for a pic...seriously though I've found out about places in the area that I would never have known about, so YES to locationless, and YES to the idea's Markwell posted on page 2 I think....Thanks Jeremmy for asking our opinion's My 2 bit's worth....1 bit CDN....... 16. As the trail goes right across Canada I was hoping for some input on a standard naming for all the TCT caches. I have just finished placing my second cache on Trail and was wondering on the naming of it. My first cache, goes cache area description Peterson Bluffs TCT Princeton .. Our should it be TCT Princeton, then the cache area description...or something else?? Looking for your comments and input... 21. I hid one yesterday in the snow. Instead of trying to be stealthy with the track, I just tromped all over the area, with a few different trails off the main trail. It looked like some people had just walked to the edge of the fence to get a better view of the river...I figured that was better than one set in, with a few lines back and forth and a obvious standing around, markings.... May be easier to find until we get another snowfall and it buries the bare rock the cache is under...We'll see...
