  1. Wow, confused the heck out of me till I got to your post!
  2. Payment sent. And good thoughts sent with it. I hope everything works out.
  3. Maybe it's just good luck, karma, or whatever, but I didn't have near as many problems with the 60csx as the OP did. I did move up to the 60csx from a Legend, but they are VERY different in their operation. I can't get over how cool the 60csx is. Mine shows me the cache name, the GC #, the terrain & difficulty, whether or not the last 4 people found it or not, etc. It also has icons showing my what type of cache I am looking for (puzzle, multi, virtual, etc). Of course it did take some time to get it personalized the way I wanted it. Plus I use GSAK to put that info on there. But that's just part of owning a device like that. I didn't expect my ipod, Palm, or many other devices I own to be ready out of the box and be exactly how I wanted them. Heck, I even did some personalization to my vehicle before it was setup just like I wanted. Compared to the Legend, I found the 60csx to be very intuitive. In fact a few new people I have taken caching with me have figured out all on their own how to get it to show the next cache without much input from me. I don't usually read the manual until I get to something I don't know how to do. And if I get get that info from the manual, I jump on various forums and usually find the help I need there. Maybe the 60csx isn't for everybody, but I don't think that the OP's experience is necessarily indicative of everyone else's experience.
  4. Try buying a Garmin I3 (best KISS gps for car?) for the lady in your life (Mom, sister, GF, etc.) as it is $200 at Walmart. You get the maps via this purchase, and you get the browny points with the lady. If you do not like it then Walmart has a 100% refund, at their store (no mail in required). At least that is what the sales rep said on the phone. I owned my i2 before my 60csx. I was able to get the maps included with the i2 loaded onto the 60csx fairly easily. And with a 1Gb microSD card, I fit the whole US on it.
  5. I am a user of several of the scripts in the OP too. They do add to the functionality of GC.com!
  6. Yes, GSAK (and maybe other programs) can send the data from the GPX file to both your GPS and your Palm. There are many ways to do this though. I export it as a CacheMate file for the Palm. Others have different methods. I suggest you try a few of the methods here and see what works best for you.
  7. The Express Logger can add certain text to each cache but since you have to submit each cache log separately, you can add whatever you want to each one. I usually start off with "I found this with blah blah blah..." and then add whatever I want that is specific to each cache.
  8. Hey guys... Does this coin have a unique icon? So far it just shows up as the generic coin icon.
  9. Maybe the problem is HOW the cacher used the express logger. When you pull up the Express Logger page, you can either have it import your CacheMate log file, or you can type in a list of waypoints (GC #) seperated by commas. I use the first method of importing my CacheMate log, which has the caches all time & date stamped along with any notes I entered when I logged them in CacheMate. There's probably not much chance of messing that up. However, maybe the cacher typed in a list of waypoints and entered a wrong number somewhere. I can definitely see where there is room for error that way. Either way, we all have our preferred methods of record keeping. My way works best for me out of all the methods I have tried.
  10. Funny that you say this... The Express Logger has helped me NOT MIX UP CACHES. Now, I know that they are getting logged in the correct order! Before I started using it, I on at least one occasion logged them in the wrong order. So now my stats page is incorrect on what cache was my 100th. It found the 100th I logged, not found. While using the Express Logger, it has a link to each cache. I pull up the cache pages for ones I need to review first.
  11. I am not choosing sides here. I agree that this coin took WAY TOO LONG to receive, especially since I paid way back in January. I also was one of the people calling for a change in date to 2007 (which I still feel should have happened). However, there was one suggestion that I made that actually made it to the coin! In post #41 that I made on July 19th, I suggested using the canal boat in Metamora and linked to the cache that featured it. Since that is the cache/location that ended up being used, I get a little joy when I look at this coin knowing that I got to suggest what ended up being on the coin!
  12. Sure, no problem! I have recently started my own website to gather together all the links and info that have helped me. I have the steps typed up there already. Take a look at it at: http://markz68.googlepages.com/geocacheloggingtutorial It's still a work in process, but it's a start! Feel free to email me if you have any questions or if something isn't clear.
  13. This is my process for preparing for a caching trip: On Palm, delete all records from CacheMate On 60csx (handheld), delete all waypoints Load PQs into GSAK In GSAK, export everything into CacheMate file for the Palm In GSAK, export everything into POIs for both my Nuvi (in the car) and the 60csx (handheld) From GSAK, load the closest (to where I will be caching) 900 caches that I haven't found into my 60csx Run POI Loader to load both my GPS's Hotsync Palm to load CacheMate Then while out caching, I log all my finds & DNFs within CacheMate. When returning home from caching I do the following to log my finds & DNFs: Hotsync Palm to get CaheMate logs onto PC Run Express Logger webpage to log all finds & DNFs That's all there is too it for me. It takes me about 15 minutes to prepare for a cache trip and about 15 minutes after a trip to get everything logged. Steps 1-3 of my preparation can be done anytime during the week before I go caching. Steps 4-8 are done right before I go caching. My PQs are mailed to me throughout the week to keep GSAK updated. The "My Finds" PQ gets run every week or so to keep my finds updated in GSAK and to update my stats on my profile. I have tried the GSAK macro way to get things back into GSAK and then log them from there, but I prefer my method. Plus, I also sync my Palm at work, so I can use the Express Logger page from there even though I don't have GSAK loaded if I have to.
  14. I received my coins today! They look great! This past Father's Day weekend, I introduced my father to geocaching. We spent all day caching together. The third cache we found that day was the one featured on this coin! Since then, my dad has become an avid cacher! We have spent many happy days caching together! In honor of his first day caching, I gave him a pair of these coins (one trackable and one non-trackable) tonight at dinner! He was very impressed with the coins and very happy to receive them as a gift!
  15. I would say if you find a bug with a specific destination as it's goal, help it move towards that destination if possible (whether it's a closer state, a closer country, etc). And in most cases, the only way to get it to a closer country is to fly or go by boat. I just sent a TB that I own with a guy going to Australia. And I work with a cacher from New Zealand. I may send one with her when she goes home to visit.
  16. I just ordered them for 4 more for units that belong to my Mom, my Dad, my brother, and I. I found an online coupon for 20% off. Use this URL http://www.shieldzone.com/rocky
  17. Another fan of the invisibleShields here! They haven't saved me from any damage yet, but they have given me piece of mind! And I have never seen a negative review. I have them on my Palm Tungsten e2, my Garmin 60csx and my wife's iPod Nano. I also purchased them as gifts for my Dad's 60cx, and my brother-in-law's iPod Nano. I just received a Garmin Nuvi 360 yesterday for the car. I need to check and see if there is a shield for it too.
  18. I sold my Garmin eTrex Legend when I upgraded to my Garmin 60csx. In the car I used a Garmin StreetPilot i2 until yesterday when I received my new Garmin Nuvi 360. If my wife doesn't want the i2, I will sell it. So, basically, I have no spares for other people to use. I could borrow one from my dad or a friend if I needed to have a spare for a particular outing that they are not attending too.
  19. There is another Greasemonkey script on this page that defaults to show all logs: http://gmscripts.locusprime.net/index.html
  20. Nevermind! I wasn't viewing "all logs on one page". Now I see them.
  21. They DO work. (for me, on WinXP at least, Firefox/2.0.0.3) It also works for me Have you restarted FireFox after installing? Where on the page are these stats shown? I added the script to my GM. I am using XP with FF 2.0.0.3 and I don't see them either.
  22. I've almost always write a similar note on WG's that I receive not from caches. Oddly enough, I very rarely note what Geocache I found a WG in. I guess I've inadvertently be blacklisting WG for the last few years, whoops. The natural movement bit is hog-wash if you ask me. The cafeteria where I work has another WG geek that frequent it, as I often receive WG as change there. Several co-workers know that I do the WG thing, and often save the bills for me. Unfortunately, I haven't converted many co-worker to Geocaching, but that still enjoy listening to my tales of slogging through the mud or getting attacked by vulture. Someone I work with always gives me the WG bills he finds too! I have just recently been finding WG bills again. There must be someone new in my area that is doing it now. I bet I went a year with no bills found, but in the last month, my coworker has found 3, I have found 1, and I found 1 in a cache this weekend.
  23. Yep, I believe I asked Mark about that flag at Brown County! Great flag!
  24. The flag would have something on it like this. How about this? I'd buy one. Make them the same size as all the college and NFL flags you see on cars.
