  1. Thanks for all the good words. After logging this mark last year, I felt obliged to get pictures of its destruction. Hated to see it go, as it's something of a landmark in the northern part of town. Sorry, it WAS a landmark. Anyhow, at nearly 600 feet it was visible for miles and miles. And in the pre-cell phone tower days, it was the only blinking light on the horizon between Macon and Forsyth, GA. It was quite an experience to see it drop. We were about 1600 feet from the base of the stack, and it fell in our direction. One of the Georgia Power representatives near us said it took 85 pounds of explosives (C-4, I think) to bring it down. Again, thanks to you all for the kind words!
  2. quote:All the stakes around the point indicate someone thought it was quite important. This was why they caught my attention. Seems like I see a single stake around every corner, but to see eight of these three-stake groupings at one intersection... that made me curious. Thanks, - Michael
  3. I never had a problem viewing the pictures from home, where I posted the question. Once at work, though, I see the problem you've all had. I think I've corrected it by creating a new web page, linked below. Apparently, the folks at Tripod didn't care for the last page, or the links to the pictures. This link, I hope, works better. http://barusa.tripod.com/lagrange/twomarks.htm
  4. Thanks to all of you for responding. I'd never seen clusters of stakes like these, and just wondered if there was any significance to the metal rods they were posted around. Appreciate it, -Michael
  5. Sorry if the pictures are causing problems. They appear fine here. You can also get to them at this address... http://barusa.tripod.com/twomarkers.html -Michael
  6. I'm somewhat new to all this, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. At a four-way stop near my office, there are eight new markers placed, two on each section of road leading to the interchange. What purpose would this type marker serve? Thanks, Michael
