Thanks for all the good words. After logging this mark last year, I felt obliged to get pictures of its destruction. Hated to see it go, as it's something of a landmark in the northern part of town. Sorry, it WAS a landmark. Anyhow, at nearly 600 feet it was visible for miles and miles. And in the pre-cell phone tower days, it was the only blinking light on the horizon between Macon and Forsyth, GA.
It was quite an experience to see it drop. We were about 1600 feet from the base of the stack, and it fell in our direction. One of the Georgia Power representatives near us said it took 85 pounds of explosives (C-4, I think) to bring it down.
