  1. Looking forward to the return of the watch count. I really miss it both on my own caches and puzzle caches that I am watching. Thanks you
  2. The number of people watching a cache was, until a few days ago , shown in brackets after the "Watch" or "Stop Watching" text on the cache page. It was very useful for accessing the popularity of a cache. It seems to have vanished in the last few days.
  3. I had the same problem with all my 200 puzzle caches. Completely random missing photos from user to user. It was mainly using Google Chrome and even then it depended on how up to date the browser was to whether it rejected the host site. So some people saw them and some didn't .... It's all as a result of the changes made to hosting images since 15th September. Although GC HQ say pre 15th caches will work OK it's not actually true. My problem was solved by ensuring my web server had SSL installed. I enabled SSL and installed the free certificate and voila all the photos reappeared. Since 15th Sept I am using Dropbox to host my photos ( which is much easier.) and changed my links from http// to https// I'm still using my web server but only for HTML/CCS/Javascript code NOT for images. All very very annoying and time consuming to resolve .... John
  4. That's odd, all my caching friends in UK say the images are back ? I really don't want to edit 200 + caches if possible. All my caches post 15th are using dropbox and //https ;-)
  5. Sorted thanks to a very clever caching friend I have ..... The third party web server did not have SSL enabled. I enabled it and all my images have returned. Thanks for all the help from forum members. Happy bunny John
  6. I fully appreciate that from 15th Sept we should use an authorised host, my lastest cache uses Dropbox which is fine. However I have been putting out puzzle caches for 3 years now and I don't want to move all the images of nearly 200 puzzle caches. The 15th Sept post clearly says :- Quote. This change will only apply to new cache and trackable pages. You can continue editing existing cache and trackable pages as before, even if they contain images that are hosted on third-party servers. So what have GC done to ruin all my historic caches ? John
  7. Thanks for testing them. Yes they are historic caches published before 15th Sept ruling, about 200 of them. John
  8. Eureka First person on this forum to not see my images , thanks you, I'm not going mad LOL Thanks for all that info ..... will do some more research ... John
  9. Thank you for testing. This is getting crazy ... I have had three caching friends try and none of them can get any images ? I have 2 PC and mobile and again no images on Chrome. This is what they all get on GC8W3XT
  10. Can anyone at GC HQ help me. I have 200 cache puzzles with no images since this 15th September update ...... Only happens on Google Chrome , Ok on other browsers but most people use Chrome. Need help desperately .... John
  11. And I'm using Chrome on my mobile and no images. I've just tried Firefox on my mobile and its fine. So it's definitely Chrome that's causing the problem. What are you using ?
  12. I have a breakthrough. I have been using Chrome Browser. I have just tried using Edge and it's fine ! I have asked my friend to check on her PC and she too cannot see any images but I know she uses Chrome too .
  13. I have no images on any of those caches just the little default icon ... Same on my mobile Here is another cacher with no images :- GC3AK1K
  14. I have checked and it seems to be random. Geotrowel, Murkin & Dipole all have no images ..... Which caches did you open of mine please .... Try GC7T963
  15. Oh no ..... I've lost the images on all 200 of my caches now !!!!! What is going on ? My old caches should not be effected ... This change will only apply to new cache and trackable pages. You can continue editing existing cache and trackable pages as before, even if they contain images that are hosted on third-party servers.
  16. Ah, seem to have sorted out the Cross-Origin Resource Blocking (CORB) error as follows :- <img src="https://dl.dropbox.com/s/rgzp3oq1gx4zgn8/Banner.jpg?dl=0" /> But now GC tells me dropbox is not a supported server :-O So how can I host my jpg file from dropbox ?????????????
  17. Hi, So as I can't use my own third party server to host my banner so I've tried to use dropbox. If I type https://www.dropbox.com/s/hwdwf7zzvdqyk2u/Banner.jpg?dl=0" Into by browser it works fine: If I put <img src="https://www.dropbox.com/s/hwdwf7zzvdqyk2u/Banner.jpg?dl=0" /> Into the cache description then it doesn't work as I get a CORB error ? Any ideas ?
  18. Just one more thing. If I cannot host an image from my server and the description is in HTML, how do I add an image to the cache page ? I did have this , which no longer works. <img src="http://mattsphotobooks.com/john/victoria.png" /> John
  19. Here are a few of my caches all using HTML/CSS/Javascript, all being hosted on my server. GC8TR4X GC82AJP GC87M62 GC8AB1A Many Thanks John
  20. Just to clarify, my current puzzle caches running html/CSS/Javascipt will still work fine. However future puzzle caches using html/CSS/Javascript will not work as they are on a third party server. In future all my puzzle are limited to simple text and photos ? John
