  1. Buy from the hardware store and epoxy a hook to the inside
  2. Not that I have a find in either country, this explanation I find laughable. But hey what do i know.
  3. So true! one of my favorite multis and caching memories with my late father Weekend 1 - Hit wp1 30 miles north Weekend 2 - wp2 200 miles north was visiting my parents on a planned trip, also visited GCHQ since we were one neighborhood over. Weekend 3 - wp3 final 120 miles southwest my father drove down the following weekend he was eager to finish and get the FTF and a nice trip to the beach and Mo's for dinner. Great times, thank!
  4. Wow brings back some memories. Some I forgot about. Some did not realize was that lonely. Thanks With Covid avoiding people a lot of remote camping and exploring. found 261 caches (needed: 500) not found in 183 days # visited previous days gccode cache_name type country region county 1. 2022-03-20 2013-09-02 3121 GC1GKHA Dangerous Creek Traditional Cache United States Oregon Washington County (OR) 2. 2022-06-14 2017-03-10 1922 GC45PNN <> Diamonds Are Forever <> Unknown Cache United States Oregon Multnomah County (OR) 3. 2021-07-25 2017-08-10 1445 GC3677Y -RH108- Are we there yet? 5. Hmmmm Found it after finding one clue. Not sure what they were going for. Hope I win a shirt.
  6. Prior to starting geocaching missed out on: United Kingdom, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Vatican City, Tunisia, Israel, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico. Oh well excuse to go back Current plan for this summer revisit Germany and Austria, tacking on Iceland can't wait
  7. At least on iPhones others probably work in similar ways. Go to you settings and under geocaching app you can disable sounds.
  8. Thanks for the suggestions Since GSAK does not easily work on a mac I tried the file parssing and converting the coordinates. No luck there either. Will decide if I want to and can install on my kids school chromebook,
  9. I started this most recent discussion on AL. Don't hate them, don't love them either. My irk was that the ALs were not linked with the rest of geocaching except as a find number. Did a AL in the Dallas Texas airport, but because they somehow don't have location information the same way other caches are did not get my first find in Texas. This disappointed me. Others irks that I agree with is there is little to no maintenance or ability to flag problems or issues. I do agree with the point that one find should be for completing the entire AL not each stage. Personally I believe if some effort was made to merge ALs into geocaching.com a lot of these complaints would go away. I don't think ALs will go away GS has invested heavily in this and my desire and possibly others is to improve the overall experience. Oh and my ignore list currently has 624 caches on it. Mostly puzzle caches which I have no clue even where to start and don't feel like begging the CO with questions on how to even begin let alone solve. Maybe that is a new irk, well in my case as you suggested I just make them go away.
  10. Working on two grandfathered challenges to get all 1000 longitude/latitude finds. Through random luck I'm down to needing 11 in each. But searching for specific qualifying caches is difficult now that they no longer display longitude and latitude outside the individual cache listing. Suggestions?
  11. 100% agree but not annoyed enough yet to delete finds.
  12. I think we just disagree with GS they need to be merged or separated. If they remain as is, I hate to say it but the baby may be a little ugly, parents can be a little defensive but the problem is fixable. If there was a will GS could code it up, might be difficult but it still could be done. Software can be and is amazing.
  13. Today achieved my 3rd country! Hope to get a couple more later this week though with 57 caches in the whole country 1/57 is not bad. Got Canada #2 back in 2016, hopefully will get #4 much sooner. The funny thing about the 2 I found in British Columbia was I drove there. I stated my purpose for visiting Canada upon return to the US was to get a couple of geocaches and that was suspicious enough to get my car searched. I spent longer getting my car searched by the customs than I actually spent in Canada that trip.
  14. 11 hour layover at DFW (different kind of irk) was supposed to be 6 hours and spent most of those 6 hours either sleeping or eating breakfast after the red eye so no time to leave the airport. Did the Adventure Lab Cache. But no Texas souvenir. I know they try to explain it away why, but that is lame. Write a procedure to cross reference the location of the icon with what state it is in. Come on GS add a field to the database. Hire a summer intern from UW if you need to. Seriously if they want to merge the two games then merge them fully. Geocaching is about locations, latitude, longitude and maps. I like my statistics and maps.
  15. File a NA and get the reviewer involved. They should instruct the CO as to the proper use of the OM log.
  16. Maybe specialized reviewers is what is needed. - new hides focus more on publishing scrutinizing the hide, permission, review pictures and help new COs - Maintenance & Archival
  17. I suppose what ever floats your boat.
  18. Why is this a problem. Part of the game they are promoting is being a CO. Free up the space for a new cache. Gives folks the oppertunity to find a new cache in their area. The more I think about it they all should have expiration dates unless OM logs are performed.
  19. Looks like a potential bomb to me.
  20. If I notice the red wrench I'll open it up and if the last few logs are DNFs, usually I'll skip. Specially when planning a road trip to get a new county. After all it's impossible to find them all so why waste the time. If it is close to my house and I'm in the mood for a challenge I may give it a try, if the CO is one I recognize I'll drop them a note and a DNF log, but most often the CO has moved on and a NA log is submitted.
  21. Sorry you quoted the wrong person. I 100% agree maintenance is occasionally required as I've experienced a problems and as you pointed out there is a serious flaw with them on how to report problems.
